I had the pleasure of staying at the lodge for two nights during the recent ice storm. It was truly amazing. The reservationist Shelia and Keith made the process very easy. From arrival time to check out time the entire staff was accommodating and very friendly. Shirley Welch and her Daughter Freida made soups and brought in to the restaurant for guests to enjoy. The restaurant was closed during this time of bad weather and was limited on staff. Stan the innkeeper was wonderful. The hospitality shown during my stay was very much appreciated. Thank you all so very much.
Interesting place to eat. Down home cooking. It was pricey.

The food was great, we had a goup of 4 and happened to notice the party of 2 next to us got the same amount of sides. Kinda feels a little cheap considering you are paying $25 per person for dinner and 2 people get more bang for there buck vs the 4 people.

First time we ever ate here, we came down from Chattanooga for the Christmas parade and festival. $25.95 a person is very expensive for a very low amount of food. There was 3 of us, and we received the same portions as a party of two. Literally got a teaspoon size portion of each side and that was it. No refills and needless to say we will never be back to this restaurant. We usually don't leave bad reviews, but this was crazy for the price! We should have checked the reviews first.

Food and atmosphere were wonderful. Only problem was our table seemed slightly forgotten. It wasn't too busy and we were almost done with our meal before our multiple time requested bread basket arrived at our table. We plan to return.

We waited 3 hours on Thanksgiving day for what I was assured was well worth it by everyone outside. The food was fair at best. Straight out of a can veggies with no seasoning added. Ham that was bland. Yams tough and bland. I never would have thought I would leave hungry but I didn’t find any of the food worth eating.
It’s been a while since I had been, and was truly surprised to see nearly everything go down in quality and value. The food wasn’t nearly as good or plentiful, although the price had gone up. The math just doesn’t make sense anymore. Spending more money for less food that doesn’t taste nearly as good as it used to. Unfortunately I think this was my last trip to the Smith House. Too many better options elsewhere. Too bad. I have had some great memories of family gatherings here. Too bad it’s a thing of the past. If they keep these changes up, I don’t think they will be in business much longer. I honestly don’t know who would continue to come and pay these prices for the quality or quantity of food you get now.

Concept could be amazing… but choices are too limited and food was blah. The takeaway feeling was overpriced cafeteria food.

If you go the whole price for dinner expect alot of food. To me the place waste alot of food. People coming through this time travels and have no place to carry take out. There is a price of a smaller plate no refills or anything like that, just a normal dinner. What kills me they sit you in another room by yourself not in the big room where everyone is being served family style food. It to me was a very cold atmosphere. All that food wasted just kills me.

Great service, but the food is not good. The mashed potatoes are gross and watery and look like they were made with powdered potatoes. I expected better southern food.
