Great Izakaya experience, be prepared to wait to be seated if you come late. The room is cozy, with dark wood interior, and you'll feel like you're transported to Japan here. Food is awesome, has a lot of options, small bites are plentiful, you can choose to eat several of those instead of choosing a main course. Their sushi is fresh, ramen is always yummy and we love the various small dishes. Vegetarian will definitely love this place.

I visited this place for the first time 12/3/24 at approximately 7:30pm, for my daughter’s birthday. The server Shen was great, everything was fine until a roach crawled across the table we were dining at and another roach was located under a water glass we were served. Management was called over to view the roaches. We were only offered an 10% discount on the bill. A $3 debit card/ credit card fee was applied so essentially about $3-$4 was taken off from such an appalling, disgusting, unsanitary ,roach infested dining experience. Roaches cause illness and carry lots of diseases. This was not okay. My family and I had to throughly shake our clothing out upon returning home to ensure we didn’t carry this restaurants bugs .

The tonkutsu ramen doesn’t come with tonkustu pork! Interesting!
I’ve been going to this restaurant for a while and most likely I’m not going here anymore!

We have been served a half plate of grilled squid.
The sashimi comes with no ginger.

Our table is the first table on the second floor. The service ring is out of order, I assume that our server knew it in advance but she still only came our table once by our request.
She didn’t offer us the option of “ frying sweet shrimp head” until we asked about it.
Hope Shoya could do better next time.

Certain employee with red hair at the front very clearly does not like darker skinned people. Looking at past reviews her mistreating those who are darker skinned even goes back years at this point???? Quite disappointing. Newsflash to her and the owners, if you don’t want non light people going to your restaurant that badly, don’t pick metro atlanta to be your restaurants location!
An izakaya restaurant that a local Atlanta friend often goes to. The menu is so extensive that they serve almost all Japanese dishes. My friend's favorite dish, salmon rice bowl, tasted like high-quality soy sauce egg rice with sauce, butter, and egg mixed in, and the rest of the takoyaki and chirashidon were fresh and delicious.
A must-visit place when you come to Georgia! Rather, it's a good place to go for a quick drink and conversation with friends when you're craving Japanese food. It seems to be run by Japanese people, and it has an izakaya atmosphere, so it's a good place to introduce a Japanese feel at an affordable price.
There are so many menus that it seems impossible for all of them to be successful, so you will have to choose wisely. Highly recommended is the salmon rice bowl!!

I've visited Shoya many times and have always loved the food, especially the yellowtail cheek—it's one of my favorites! However, during my most recent visit, the dish was too fishy for my taste, which was quite disappointing. I’m not sure if I’ll be back, but I hope this feedback helps improve the dish for future diners. I really appreciate the overall experience and hope to enjoy my favorites again soon!"

It's a very authentic Japanese restaurant in ATL. Good quality of food and various traditional Japanese food along with sake. One thing I didn't satisfied was 2 hours limit per each table due to high volume of customers. Even we reserved the room and spent almost $500 but we only got 30 minutes more.. 😢

It's like they took an Izakaya from Japan and transported the whole thing to the US. It's exactly like you would find in Tokyo, down to the menu, the service, and the ambiance. Well worth a trip!

There's a great variety of options and all of them were delicious! Our server was super kind, and quick. We were seated upstairs but nothing took any time at all. I'd love to come here like once a week if I lived in Atlanta. Salmon had the freshest taste I've had in a long time.
