Food and service were both outstanding. .. my only complaint is that the BBQ sauce was too runny and had too much of a vinegary twang to it. I will STILL definitely go back!

All I can say is you smell the deliciousness of the smokiness of the wood smoked food. However, it doesn't transfer over to the food itself. When you eat the food it does not taste like it has been smoked on the grill or cooked with wood on the grill. It just doesn't. That part is missing. I don't know exactly how but I go home and grill myself with some wood. When I really want some smoked flavor some or smokiness to my ribs etc..I'm not saying the food is nasty or anything, but I am saying when you grill all the time using wood, it tastes smokey/smoked!! You will definitely not get that smokey flavor here.

I really do not know what all the hype is about! This place has the worst ribs I've ever had. We ordered 3 full racks and none of them had much meat and seemed to have been reheated from the day before. They were tough and tasted like they were thrown in the smoker without any seasoning. And the vinegar-based BBQ didn't help much. One of our racks still had the membrane on it! ? Then there are the fries...they were so greasy, bland, and undercooked. The only reason I gave 2 stars for the food was because of the blue cheese dressing that was recommended for the fries. We will not be back.
I have been coming to Hudson’s my entire life. I will no longer be coming backCalled last night at 8:20 to place an order for a pound of pork. I have done this countless times. I’m always told they close at 9 and it will be about 10 minutes maximumToday, I reached a very rude lady on the phone who refused to take my order. She said she had cleaned up for the night 40 minutes before closing and would not take my to go orderNow… I could have came in and eaten in person up until 9, but I can’t place a simple to go order for a pound of pork only?This is unacceptable. This is not the way Hudson’s has done business in the past. If this is the new standard, they have lost a very frequent and over 20 year customer.

Hudson’s Hickory House is a staple in Douglasville. Very complete menu. Lots of neat things to eat.Being a BBQ place, I tried the ribs with potato salad and a jalapeño cornbread muffin. The ribs are very tough, and it’s really the only reason I can’t go with 5 stars. They have a great taste, and I like the sauces they have, but the ribs aren’t tender.The potato salad was fantastic. Great taste, lots of mustard. Delicious. The cornbread muffin was delicious. Dunking in the sweet BBQ made it even better.I also ordered a pulled pork grilled cheese sandwich with sweet pickles. This was really good. The pork seemed pretty bland on its own, but as a whole, I really liked it. Very unique. I should have ordered two of them.The service was fast and friendly. And attentive. It’s going to be busy, on a Monday at 6:30pm it was very busy. Plenty of seating and very good service.If I go again, I’ll just avoid the ribs. I absolutely enjoyed everything else.Kid-friendliness: The place is loud. Lots of kids.
