We decided to drive up to Ellijay for no particular reason and googled restaurants. I have been looking for a good po-boy for ages, even being disappointed last year on a trip to New Orleans. This place is where it’s at! We got the zydeco sampler to try a little bit of everything and then a po-boy for me and crab cakes for my husband. Everything exceeded expectations. The restaurant is clean and inviting and the staff is incredibly warm and friendly. Our server, Kadence, was amazing and her coworker, whose name we didn’t get, was equally helpful and friendly. We’re happy to make the one hour drive to come here regularly now that we’ve found this little gem!

This used to be out “go-to” for lunch and dinner with friends. Unfortunately, due to our experience last Saturday night, we will not be returning our waitress was lackluster at best. Our granddaughter wanted to go because she said they had the best burger she had ever had. This time, she was served a charred rock we got ribs that lacked sauce and when we asked for napkins, we were ignored. My husband was supposed to get bread with his order, but when he requested it, the waitress said sure, but never returned. The restaurant was not busy. It took almost an hour from ordering to food served. That would have been ok had the food been good. When we were all finished, the waitress came by and asked if we still needed napkins and bread. I’m saddened as this was one of my favorite local restaurants, but to be treated that way and not to check on our food being prepared properly before serving was inexcusable.
Sadly disappointed. Food was delicious, as it had been when I took friends a year ago. Service was insanely SLOW. Drinks (no craft beer, Louisiana beer, etc) took forever, as did the crawfish appetizer, which was eaten quickly by party of 5 (server should have suggested 2+, they were out of crab cakes) . Never asked if we'd like more. Then the protracted wait...I finally asked for bread, as we were all hungry...4 pieces...no butter, oil, anything. And the wait continued, so I had to ask for more bread. 2 servers and 6 tables. Over an hour get food and by that time only 4 tables. 1 server was at small bar consuming a large plate of food. Couldn't find the other. Finally got second drink as we finished meals....and place was empty at 7.40 pm on Saturday night. Who owns or manages this place and why aren't they serving, greeting, engaging customers or monitoring things? THERE ARE SO FEW LOCALLY OWNED SPOTS W REASONABLE PRICES AND GOOD FOOD....THIS IS ONE! But, it cannot make up for the terrible (non-existent) service. It was almost as though our party of 5 wasn't there....it was that bad. We arrived es at 6 pm sharp and were there until 7.45 with most of that time waiting and being ignored. As we left we overheard another group saying the same thing.

If you haven’t eaten at Cajun Depot Grill, you absolutely need to go! The food is absolutely amazing—flavorful, hearty, and cooked to perfection. But what truly makes this place special is the owner and staff. They are incredibly kind and welcoming, making you feel like family from the moment you walk in. They remember you on return visits, ask about your family, and genuinely care about how you're doing. That hometown feel and personal touch make all the difference. You really can’t go wrong here. We’ve been dining here for years, and I’ve never had a single complaint. Highly recommend!

Super cute restaurant, great food and service. We love eating here and highly recommend it!
Best restaurant in Ellijay by far! We went to every restaurant in town and mostly go for the atmosphere because there is really nothing special that we couldn’t make at home. Moved here from Seattle and really missing good food. Once driving by I noticed Cajun Depot Grill right outside of downtown, it’s hard to see from the road. Did not expect much and were blown away by the variety and flavors. Outstanding Cajun food and great service! Our waitress was super sweet and even gave us a little history on the place, told us about this amazing chef and his passion for Cajun food. Highly recommend! Honestly I think it’s best Cajun food I ever had.

Best restaurant in Ellijay by far! Outstanding Cajun food and great service. Lived here for two years and never noticed it, just outside of downtown. It’s my new favorite now. Highly recommend! You’d not be disappointed.
