The wait was a little long for a table but it was absolutely worth it. The food was amazing and the service was great. Will definitely come back next year!

Every single time I go, it’s extremely slow service. It was also suffocating hot in there.

Our waitress, Beronica took great care of us. The food was ok, but nothing to write home about. Great selection of tequila available. I would likely go on the search for another Mexican restaurant before returning here.

Took a bit long to get our food but the waitress was nice and it was very nice to be in a packed restaurant as the pandemic winds down. Felt like things are truly getting back to normal. The restaurant is very clean and decorated, looks new inside. While I loved the previous restaurant that was in this building, it was clear they spent nothing on updating the inside. It was musty and looked like an early 2000's restaurant. El Rey changed that! For those from bigger cities; this is like El Nopal but better. Very fairly priced, very good portions, very standard, tasty generic Latin food. Loads more options with a few "special" dishes mixed in. Even if you don't go mingle at the bar, the atmosphere here is refreshing.

The food was so fresh and delicious. I love how they did not take a long time to cook it. The steak was on point. Great people and great food.

This is a great place to eat and to just meet friends in the bar for great drinks or a cold beer of your choice. So meet me there for Happy Hour in the afternoon for a good time.

Had the pork Chile verde which was basically just shredded pork with green sauce. Not very flavorful. I actually make it better at home. Comes with rice and refried beans which are very generic. Usually comes with tortillas in other restaurants but did not receive any here. One of our group ordered a quesadilla with mushrooms, spinach and substituted the chicken for shrimp of which the upcharge was $3.50. They said it was just ok. Another guest had the #2 combo and asked for a beef taco, cheese enchilada and a beef chalupa. This was repeated to the server twice by the guest and twice by me. The taco was right as well as the enchilada. The chalupa shell was not deep fried as customary and also did not contain the beef that was requested. Instead it was a soggy mess of refried beans, lettuce, tomatoes and some guacamole. When we spoke to the manager/head server about this she said “well, that’s the way we make them” and then proceeded to insult my guest by saying “this isn’t Taco Bell “. Funny part is that my guest has never even been to Taco Bell, he just has had chalupas in better quality restaurants. It’s a lovely restaurant physically and I would have given it a second chance but after the response given to my guest we will not be returning.

This is brand new, having moved from the old location very recently. It is HUUUGE - separate bar, big private dining room, and lots of space for regular diners, even at peak 6pm! Servers are charming, if a little slow (they need more staff, hence the 4 stars) but the food is just as good as ever. Why go anywhere else?
