Well we love to come downtown Gainesville to eat and last night we stop and ate at Yellowfin. Big mistake, BIG!
Well we sat at a table directly across from the kitchen and that’s where the first mistake was. The had 3 chiefs in the back cooking, not one of them wore gloves, no hair nets, no beard nets and I watched them cook, vape and touch food with their bare hands. That gentleman touched every bit of food to make tacos without gloves. Then the waitress came to pick food up coughed repeatedly where you pick up food never washed her hands before she grabbed the plates and also coughed again while holding the food which then freaked me out after watching all of this take place couldn’t eat all of our food. Requested the check and left. Ended up with really bad stomach aches we ended up home and used the bathroom all night and first thing this morning. We will not be back to eat here ever again.

This restaurant is one of the best in the area! The food is amazing and the drinks are perfectly made. The owner is present and so conscientious about his business. The staff are so helpful. I would highly recommend.

The best part about this low quality high price place was leaving and not coming back. Food is rotten, nasty and lacks culinary common sense. Preposterous non-existent service. Shut it down and start all over. The concept is dead.

Parking: Free parking across the street.

Went here for dinner with my dad on Ash Wednesday. We were surprised to know that Yellowfin was a sister restaurant of Recess Southern Gastro pub which was evident as the interior was a mirror in set-up minus the obvious ocean decor. We ordered the oysters Rockefeller appetizer and for our meals a seafood pasta and fish tacos. Both of our meals and the appetizer were delicious with the fish tacos being cooked well and the pasta and oysters having a rich cheesy and smooth taste. Overall despite a little high bill at the end, the food and atmosphere made it worth it.

Very disappointed, especially with quality to price. Bar couldn't make drinks and my $48 steak was not as good as Longhorns. Wife's meal.just as disappointing.

Food was just ok. Waiter was nice. Way over priced for the taste and quality of the food we received.

When traveling for work I like to try local restaurants. The service from the bartender was great as she was kind and attentive. The drinks were REALLY good as well, highly recommend the key lime pie martini. The food was pretty good, except the croutons in the salad were really stale. The Rockefeller oysters were my absolute favorite, they were fresh, well seasoned, and just all around tasty. The seafood pasta was okay, the noodles were dry and could have used more butter sauce. All around it was a pretty good experience.

We were looking forward to some good seafood, and given the ratings, we decided to try it, and we quickly regretted it. It was well after dinner so there were not many people. We were seated, and not a single waiter even looked at us. We sat there for 20 minutes and decided we were not going to be served. They certainly were catering to a group of women who clearly had too much to drink. So my wife and I decided to get up and leave. The venue was not impressive at all, so I will not be going back. The AC was not working well, and it was uncomfortably warm.

Took my son out for dinner - being from Charleston, SC I was curious about seafood selections here in Gainesville - more than surprised I was very pleased with their great quality and presentation of their menu. Loved the seafood sampler (cream chees

I reserved the private room for a retreat dinner for about 12 people, and we were not disappointed. The chef prepared our dinner off-menu (thank you, chef) it was all excellent. Everyone was quite happy with dinner.

Being that this was primarily a seafood restaurant, and I am allergic to shrimp and shellfish, I usually dine at places like this a bit on guard in case of cross contamination. The waitress we had overheard me talk about my allergy before I had ordered (I mention it usually at that point) and she went the extra mile to make sure the kitchen knew about this and even told me at one point, that she saw the staff using fresh gloves to prepare my food. I felt so relaxed and cared for. She was amazing.

This place is a hidden gem for really great food and a relaxed and inviting atmosphere. I could say so much more, but this book would become a novel.

Thank you to Carrie Griffin for being so kind, welcoming, and helpful when I came to inquire about the space. Your welcoming demeanor is what won me over. We had a blast!

Dietary restrictions: Allergic to shellfish, they were very careful when I told them. They have awesome non seafood dishes to enjoy.

Parking: There is a free parking deck about a 1/2 block away, and another one couple of blocks up on the other side of the square.

Got fish and chips tonight. Fish and fries were way over cooked. Fish was bland and fries were over salted. First and last time here.
