had the brisket, ribs and chopped pork, all of which were dry. the pit fries were also below average & the fries were mushy. the best dish was the mac & cheese.

Absolutely disgusting! Food was way too greasy and the utensils were not cleaned properly! Customer service was terrible and everyone had nasty attitudes… as nasty as the place was itself. DO NOT GO HERE I AM SO SERIOUS 🤢🤮

Great food, great service. I always get to eat half of my wife’s plate, not here!!! She ate it all
This review is for us old timers. I've been eating Southern pit for about 30 years now when they used to be across the street from Summit before it even existed in McDonough. They changed owners a few years back & when we went 2 or 3 times after that you could tell the recipes & the quality had went down. I simply stopped going. I spoke with the owner on Facebook and she assured me that nothing had changed but when you eat something for 30 years you kind of get to know what it tastes like LOL. So decided to give it another shot cause it's been about a year since we went, I get people might like the way it is today but for us old timers it just wasn't there. The meat was stringy and had fat in it. I had 2 pieces of cornbread neither had cracklin in it. 1was full of gritty sugar & the other was dry. The stew had definitely been changed with the way the meat was in it and it now has a spice versus the old style. It just wasn't good, as I don't mind spice but you could tell the quality just wasn't what it use to be. Also something was off with the beans. However the coleslaw, french fries were phenomenal as always, as well as the sauce. Also maybe I just missed it but I didn't see a sign on the door or on the menu and don't recall seeing one of the register saying that it was a surcharge for using a card but again that could just be me not seeing it. But let's be real, this day and age who does that? Just build it into your price. Yes I know some people like to save the money by paying in cash but I imagine 75% of your payments are probably in some form of a card.
