My favorite restaurant in Helen. I have yet to be disappointed and I have visited many occasions. It’s small and food is cooked to order so bring some patience with you. There is usually a wait but to me that’s a testament of tasty food. It’s well worth it. They run out of items so I’d suggest getting there early. They will cut off to go orders if they are busy because they would rather make sure each dish is well made rather than sling slop as fast as possible to as many as possible. They have a nice selection of German sausages and deli meats and delectable pastries as well.

German chocolate cake was so dry it was inedible.The apple strudel pastry tasted like wet paper.I don't know what changed since we were there a year ago, but everything we tried was just bad.

Don't miss an opportunity to visit Hofer's Bakery and Restaurant if you are in Helen, GA. Their bakery goods are a delight to the eyes and the palate. We enjoyed breakfast. The service was top-tier. There are many, many choices. The food arrived quickly and was delicious.

We decided to visit Hofer’s for dessert based on it’s reviews but we were greatly disappointed. The German chocolate torte was dry and underwhelming. The cream puff was flavorless and the Linzer cookies were hard & bland. The location was great and service was good though!
Loved this place. So many bakery options. I ordered German chocolate and carrot muffins. Not good vegetarian options for breakfast though.

The bacon and onion hash is absolutely delicious!! Very friendly staff. Great location, with nice view of the pretty mountains. Highly recommend this place, and will be visiting again soon.
