I’ve grown up going here with my family for 18 years and stopped by to grabbed some pulut hitam on my way home and they were closed. I’m depressed. Always the best food, service, and the staff knew my order and my family. this one hurts. so many memories with great food!

This place closing is an absolute travesty. Customer for over 15 years, had the best Pad Thai in Atlanta. I'm going to go talk to a therapist about this now.

Posted May 2024 Hopefully the previous owners come back
These new owners destroyed a world class Malay resturant. Ran off family that had worked and managed for decades!
Shame on the new owners

Under new management, service and food have gone down hill. Will not be back ever.

Every dish we ordered was watery and lacked flavor. It was like they poured water on every dish when they finished cooking it so it was diluted and tasted terrible.

Panang has seen better days. Our table was super sticky. Two items on the menu weren't available at all. Two items we ordered were prepared with different ingredients than described on the menu. We discovered that all the items marked as spicy "are not spicy". What we ate was well-prepared, but disappointing without the correct ingredients. There's a reason that the place was empty.

I was hesitant when I saw just two cars in the parking lot during lunch time, still I wanted to try. They have beer in the menu but not available. AC was not on , I was sweating and have to ask to have the aircondition turned on. I have been to many thai, malaysian restaurants and this is the worse one I have been. Food was not at all tasty and I could only eat 1/4th. Will never go back.

This place is terrible. I can't understand why its rating is 4.4.First, the environment. It's 90F outside but the a/c is not on. The tables are sticky and the store smells oily.Second, the food. Simply terrible. Shrimps have a weird aftertaste that comes from baking soda which is used to tender the shrimp. The tastes of other dishes are also off. The cook does not know what he is doing. And I agree with other comments here, the ownership of this store must have changed.Lastly, I want to remind all my fellow customers that their cleanliness score is merely 84.

This place has gone downhill. The server was nice! However the food and general ambiance was not good. The curry was very bland. The exterior and interior of the building felt very dirty. The table was sticky, all our plates stuck to it. Also, jt was so hot in the restaurant that I had to step outside for fresh air. Won’t be returning.

Penang Malaysian cuisine was a disappointing experience. There was not a lot of people dining inside, maybe like 1 or 2 other customers. Even with less amount of people, the waitress was incredibly slow. The service was slow as well. By the time I finished my first meal I was too full to finish the others due to the fact that the food came in late. The food proportions were good but just did not taste good whatsoever and was really expensive. It was about 15 dollars per dish so it was not worth it. The atmosphere was depressing and I did not feel welcome by it. Would not recommend to anybody. I would rate this place a 2/10.

Sad to say it but RIP to Penang. The only thing about the place that's the same is the name. They need to either call the old owners and beg for their help to get the place back on track or just shut it down. Awful experience. Absolute travesty what's happened here.

Update, this restaurant is under new ownership. The restaurant went from a five star rating to a one. Terrible customer service and a lying manager who claims the restaurant is still being run by the old family. I hate being blatantly lied to. The red curry was so watery, my wife (who is Chinese and used to love this restaurant) refused to finish it. It took 45 minutes for them to fulfil my order, and then insult my intelligence by telling me it is owned by the same family.I have been eating here for years... Order the Red Curry Chicken "bomb spicy" and you will have your taste buds tantalized and scorched! The Roti Cenai is also something that you must order! If you are vegetarian, try their vegetable curry. It has a lighter/thinner sauce and is filled with fresh vegetables. The fresh colorful vegetables and intense spiciness keep me coming back. Absolute staple in Kennesaw.

Well, our go to place for well over a decade for Malaysian food changed hands last year and we have given it several tries after the owners sold and retired but we are sad to say we have given up. Service has dropped, food quality and taste has dropped. We now go to one of the Food Terminals in the Atlanta area for our Malaysian food. I hope the prior owners are enjoying their retirement as they worked tirelessly to serve their customers for many, many years. I wish we knew they were leaving as we would have loved to thank them and wish them well!
