HONG KONG STAR CHINESE CUISINE-MARIETTA

I was looking for my new favorite in chinese restaurants and I found it today. Happened to be in the Marietta area, even though i'm not from there and lucked up and found this gem. I went during the lunch/dinner switch over. I was greeted and seated immediately. I had questions about a dish, the owner graciously answered and detailed the preparation and differences to note between certain dishes and their flavor. Even gave me a dish suggestion based on my preferences, for a future visit. The decor was beautiful, restaurant clean And everyone willing to help. And food was nothing short of amazing! I had the chicken string bean, and it was quite flavorful. Cannot wait for my next visit @ Hong Kong Star.

My husband and I split the Sesame Beef, General Tso Chicken, & the Chicken Fried Rice, all made Gluten Free due to my allergy.
The food was phenomenal!! I had not eaten Chinese food since 2023 when I visited New York City and ate at Lillie and Loo and this is much better with bigger portions. I am thrilled that this is only a two hour drive from me. Finding asian food that is GF is difficult, but this is just good no matter the alteration!! My husband was floored at how good it was and we are already planning our next visit.

I do like the food here. It's better than other places nearby. But the prices are way more than what it's worth. Fried rice with chicken is $22. And I called today to add water chestnuts to my to go order of veg with broccoli and they wanted an extra $5.00. I asked how many that would give me? Sounds like a week's worth. She said prices have gone up too much. I know that other places don't charge to add it. I probably world of received 5 to 8 of them. Crazy! I will start to go to the other one's.

After waiting for the host to seat us for more than 10 minutes, we sat ourselves at a booth. After waiting for another 10 minutes at our booth, no waiter showed up to take out order.

Oh and also, you increased your prices. But where is the level of service to back up your price increase?

Never returning again...

I've been coming to this restaurant for years and have always enjoyed the food and consistency. This time, I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken with fried rice on the side. The main dish was still flavorful and well-prepared, but I noticed the fried rice was different. It used to include vegetables like peas and carrots, along with some egg, but this time it was just plain rice with soy sauce. I'm not sure if the recipe has changed or if it was just a one-off.
I also tried the house cake, which felt a little dry. Hopefully it was just an off day.
Despite these small changes, I still really like this place. Looking forward to visiting again soon.

Not only is it the best chinese around, but they have excellent and very accommodating gluten free options. We love their General Tso’s and Mongolian Beef. Their pork dumplings (not GF) are excellent as well. If you are looking for a chinese place that takes it up a notch on quality, Hong Kong Star is for you

Their dishes are the best. Large portions and everything we have eaten here has been top quality in flavor and fresh ingredients. It's a weekend favorite of ours.

I love Hong Kong Star. The food is always tasty (especially the soups), the vibe is relaxed, and the service is great. The host is so charming — it’s one of those places you just enjoy going back to again and again.
