Our go-to place

We arrived to eat at 11 am on July 5th and I expected a wait . I was told as I went in to give my name that the wait was about 30-40 mins and was given a pager . I looked around the restaurant and there were 5-6 tables that no one was at, only dirty dishes . I sat outside in the hot sun for about 25 mins and I kept looking inside and noticed at least 3 tables that were unoccupied . My grandson I finally came in and asked the hostess if we could sit at a perfectly good table for two as we were the only ones left waiting and just sat down there . Now I don't know if the employees don't care or know enough that if you clean a dirty table that creates a fresh place for customers to sit . It's all about turn over and either they don't care or they are severely mismanaged . I watched probably 6 parties turn around and leave because of this . It would be nice to have so much money that I didn't care if I made anymore .

The service and wait staff were awesome. Unfortunately they had to apologize for the behavior of the owner, who was having a melt down and yelling at the staff in sight and earshot of customers. He, (the owner) may want to take some time to reflect on the right way to vent his frustrations and anger In a more discreet way. There is no reason the waitress needs to apologize for the behavior of an owner to customers.

Bustling and charming breakfast spot with super friendly staff. Great menu with a lot of choices but some of the staples fell flat. Both the grits and sausage gravy were runny and tasteless and the omelets a bit sparse. The service more than made up for it though. Our waitress was a gem.

The Other Curmudgeon says:
Not just a cute name; this place sets a new standard for breakfast dining. ... this place rates at least seven [stars]. It was utterly outstanding in every way: ambience, service, food quality and quantity, and value. I had Eggs Sardou and (more) coffee, a pleasant exchange with the three employees, and a long conversation with the elderly couple with a service dog ... who sat at the next table. These are the kinds of interactions one always hopes for when out in public. Dogs make them possible, I guess.
