The absolute BEST hidden secret is The Catfish Shack! It is locally owned and operated by two of the NICEST, FRIENDLINESS couple ever known! As for the menu, O. M. G. what GREAT FOOD, everything from (of course) Catfish, burgers, hamburger steaks, shrimp and THE BEST Cheese Grits you’ll EVER eat! The Catfish Shack offers the freshest fish in a long time, highly recommended for anyone looking for fresh catfish. While some found the prices steep and the service mediocre, there is potential for improvement. The chicken tenders were small and cooked in old oil, with fries tasting like the inside of a freezer. The fish sandwich had a good crunch and flakiness, but the onion rings were few and too thick in batter. On the bright side, the sweet tea was perfectly brewed and sweetened. Overall, the restaurant provides excellent food and good service, with a great outdoor dining experience in Newton, Georgia.
