Hats off to the manager! What an awesome place, great food, atmosphere and staff!!! Our food took longer than we had hoped but the manager didn’t hesitate and made it right with his outstanding customer service!! Definitely recommend this place and will return on my next trip!

We stopped in here before our dinner reservations and were very pleased. The bartenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. Highly recommended!

Highly recommend Planters Tavern! Serving same menu as The Old Pinke House above with incredible ambience. No wait on a Wednesday night, we were seated in wingback chairs right in front of the fireplace for dinner. Friendly staff and lively vibe with the piano guy playing familiar tunes. Dinner menu was great, but we enjoyed dessert most of all. Order the Praline Basket. We'll be returning for that dish alone! Next time we'll call ahead to reserve the wine cellar, I hear they only do three seatings a night.

I went to planters tavern on Saturday night. The hostess was lovely, and able to seat my friend and I at the bar immediately. Upon sitting down, it took the bartender almost 15 minutes to get our drink order. After another 15, we ordered food. All of the bartenders were so rude! Especially the older man with the glasses. We were derided for being from out of town and made to feel very very unwelcome. We were slaughtered with many rude quips after showing California IDs. We finished our apps and drinks and left as soon as we can. Such a shame because the food was great and we were entirely intending on ordering entrees. Just moved to Savannah and will definitely not return! I went to church this Sunday in hopes to find internal forgiveness for these bartenders, but even the lord himself couldn't convince me, hence this review.

Went to the downstairs tavern attached to the Olde Pink House prior to dinner reservation upstairs. It was very busy but we were able to get a seat at the bar after waiting a few minutes. Service was fantastic. Charlene, our bartender helped my girlfriend with an impromptu wine tasting to get the perfect wine. My cocktail was delicious. Ambiance was terrific with lit fireplaces and live piano music. Decorated well for Christmas, which really added to the evening. Felt like walking into an old tavern from the past.Full menu from upstairs is available. As we arrived we were checked in upstairs and when our table was ready the upstairs staff came and get us. Highly recommend!

Went there for our wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better spot! Has a real 1776 feel to it. Service is the star here. Manager, upon hearing it was a special occasion for us, gave us the fireplace table. Staff is fantastic. Bartenders were on the money as well. And I dont mind paying more for higher quality food and service. A very special night at a very special place.

Very rude and would only accommodate party of 4, we had 5 and would not allow us to break up, even if not sitting close to each other.

So this should be called “pink house downstairs”. Because thats really what it is. Same menu but different vibe. Food was outstanding. Lineup 45 minutes before 5 to get a table. And if you are seated at the counter and Sheldon is at the counter, ask for the biscuits. No one at the counter seemed to have been offered any and I had to ask, TWICE. Bummer…

Loved our stop off in the bowels of The Old Pink House. Everything we love in a historic tavern. Bricked up catacombs perfect for a cocktail and a nosh. The atmosphere is the type that only maintained and continuous history can provide. Food is the same as upstairs and very good at that. Drinks were inventive and well made. Service was excellent. If you can't score reservations upstairs (and that's a good bet). Head over 15 minutes before opening and queue up on the stairs with the other lucky ducks. You'll love it.

I tried to make a restaurant reservation over a month before our trip and nothing was available. After searching online I discovered you can go to the Tavern in the basement on a first come first served basis. The line usually starts to form on the corner around 4:30 under the Tavern 1771 sign. The doors downstairs do not open until 5:00. This place was our favorite during our week stay in town. We went on a Monday and again on a Friday night. This is a fun place with a cool vibe. Great people behind the bar where we sat both times. The other patrons were all very friendly. Everybody was just happy to be there. It is pretty dark and only candlelit. Too many people were using their phones as flashlights to read the menu. That took away from the ambiance somewhat. If you are there to eat as we were, you get the same food as the people upstairs. Things are a little pricey but over all very good. My complaints are minor. The artichoke fritters need more goat cheese and the spring rolls need more crab and sausage. Over our two visits we recommend the Caesar salad with anchovies, the filet (it is unbelievably tender), the corn bread fried oysters (I easily could have eaten a dozen), the seafood with Parmesan cream sauce (even as your meal cools the sauce stays creamy) and the key lime pie with Pecan Sandies crust.

We recently enjoyed a three night stay in Savannah and treated ourselves to some of the finer restaurants in Savannah. The best food by far was at the Planters Tavern (The Olde Pink House was booked farther in advance than I had anticipated...apparently there was a festival that weekend). We opted for a Cheese Plate accompanied by traditional Southern favorites - fried Green Tomatoes, Fried Chicken, and Green Beans. I know they probably sounds like boring choices but all of them were truly exemplary. And our drinks, The Proper and a Jalapeno Margarita were also fabulous. The service was perfect...but it was the atmosphere that blew us away. Dark, woodsy, and unique, we were given a nice table next to the fireplace (we got in line early). Go. Just Go.

If I had given this review right after our visit I might not have been as kind. I really wanted to love this place. We drove a couple of hours to stay overnight, and meet friends for dinner. They highly recommended The Olde Pink House. When we arranged the visit, I checked the restaurant to make a reservation. More than a month ahead there were no available reservations on a Monday. I mentioned this to our friends, and they said we would be going to the Planter’s Tavern which was first come, first served. One couple owns a condo near Savannah so they were very familiar with this restaurant. Our friends arrived at 3:30 so they would be first in line when doors were opened at 5 pm. At 5 pm, someone opened the Celler door, but we were told there was a party in the main restaurant so overflow reservations were brought downstairs. They said the 6 of us could not sit together, but after one friend got quite upset they found a table for 4 of us, and the other 2 had to sit at the bar. Not what we expected, but we had no choice. My husband and I had Scallops…. 4 scallops for $40…quite disappointed. We both had salads, and my husband loved his house salad…my Caesar was not very good. One 2 oz. Cocktail of straight vodka was $14! My husbands house wine was $11 each. When we go to Savannah again, we will try another restaurant.
