“Chen's China has been a favorite of mine for years. I expected that once I moved to Portland, I'd find a place I liked more. I did not. Their sesame chicken in particular has only one equal in the dozens of Chinese restaurants I've been to across 5 states.However, I'm taking a star off because in recent weeks they have this annoying tendency to not answer the phone. They have closed the dining room since Covid, which is fine, but they have pushed a call-in model and not adjusted to accommodate the extra phone traffic. Before covid, calling an order in ahead of time wasn't an issue, but as I sit here writing this review I've been trying to call for an hour and 20 minutes. It would have been faster for me to go in and order at the window, despite the business pushing for call-aheads.“
