“The 5 Stars are for the employees who were very nice, polite and friendly. When I went to check out and the machine asked me if I wanted to leave a tip I asked the employees if they split the tips at the end of the day. Surprisingly they said No. The employee that works the most hours gets the tips. Well, the owner always works the most hours therefore when you tip, you’re actually tipping the owner for the good work and service the EMPLOYEES gave you. As a business owner myself I am appalled at this practice. Your employees can make or break you. If you’re business accepts tips the employee(s) that EARNED them should take them home. If I could give the owner a 0 I would. The reasoning that the employee who works the most hours gets the tips doesn’t make any sense in the first place. But for an OWNER to do this to their employees is completely unacceptable. Especially considering the owner makes the schedule and the employees are all part time so the owner doesn’t have to pay the additional required taxes, unemployment, etc., he’s already making money off of them. My suggestion, if you visit the establishment and choose to leave a tip… hand it to the employee. Don’t leave it on the credit card machine. #tipsforemployees“
