“A friend and I ate lunch here after a recent visit to the Botanical Garden in Athens. The food and service were great! My friend had a vegetarian chimichanga and I had the quinoa salad. The salad was fresh and tasty, a nice departure from a taco salad. The fried plantains were scrumptious. The service was very friendly and efficient. We will definitely eat there again!“
“My experience is based on South western US Mexican restaurants. My first experience at this restaurant. I have visited a lot of restaurants in the greater Athens area. We visited for a late lunch. We ordered the combo plates. Excellent food, delivered fresh and hot to our table. Chips were great, not too thin, not too thick; salsa was ok, spicy, but plain. Enchilada was great and taco-ok. Chile relleno was excellent, large and filled with cheese. Definitely plan to return to try other menu items.Parking: Afternoons good. Evenings might be challenging, depending upon night of the week.“
“My family loves this place and it is easily the best Mexican restaurant in Watkinsville (and probably in Athens, too). The more unique decorations, rock work and fireplace gives it a nice vibe inside and definitely shakes off that generic strip mall restaurant feel. Food is authentic and delicious every time. It has never been even close to crowded for us, but we don't go at what would probably be considered peak times since we have two small children. Staff have always been very nice and helpful, as well. Also, ask for the spicy salsa, if you dare. It's awesome.“

“This is my go to place for Birria Tacos in Athens. The food here is absolutely delicious, probably one of the best birria tacos I have had in general. I tried some other places before writing this review and this by far is the most fair priced, tastiest, and authentic. I went to one place I say on tiktok and it was really white washed and bland. This is a local and hidden gem. Definitely recommend you trying this place especially if you want Birria.“
“I only stopped in for a second to grab a few tacos because I was in a hurry. They told me to sit down while I waited and tried to give me chips and salsa. It didn't feel right to get them since I wasn't staying, but after trying the tacos and salsa verde, I wish I had! The al pastor and chorizo were perfect with fresh ingredients. The salsa verde was the best I've ever had in my life- fantastic spice and flavor! I will certainly be back to try many things on the menu. Highly recommended!“

“Food is always great, and it’s tough to beat the atmosphere (especially during spring and fall). Service as far as efficiency is top notch. For the most part, employees are friendly and do well at handling the nonstop business. Unfortunately, there are at least two (full-time/regular) employees that are quite rude and unpleasant. It is clear that the customer’s presence alone is an inconvenience. Other than that, all around great spot for any Athens residents and visitors.“

“La Pa off Jefferson Road is my favorite Mexican place. I’ve been a customer since they started in the other space (more than 20 years ago). Their cheese dip is unmatched. The food is consistent, served quickly, and the staff are always friendly. Our family goes there a lot - we know many of the staff by name and it’s a place that feels like more like hanging out with family & friends.“

Our waitress was friendly and patient. We got our order quickly.The food was extremely good and the drinks were good.Just note, it is kid friendly but drinks do not come with the kids meal and the drinks are around $4 each.“
“Having recently moved back to Athens I did not know this place. I will be back again and again. To my knowledge everything is made from scratch down to the myriad of salsa options. “Their welcoming team was excellent. After a terrible experience at the restaurant next door we went here with 12 girl volleyball team and 14 parents. Even though we had no reservations they expedited clearing some tables and set all of us up for lunch in 10 minutes.Food was very good and great drinks for the parents. We all had a great experience. The servers did very good job handling such a large group and gave us all separate checks.“
“By some fluke, I have never had Taco Stand, even though I live in Athens and grew up 30min south of it......I HAVE WASTED TOO MANY YEARS....Don't make my mistake, try Taco Stand now! So freaking good. My wife talked me into eating here, she's a huge fan! The Fiesta Sauce and Queso dips are incredible. I was too busy inhaling my food and forgot to get good pics!. I had a Beef and Bean Combo burrito. Top notch! If you read a review claiming the food isn't good, be careful. “As a Floridian I've eaten my fair share of Latin food including Mexican food in Mexico. This place was delicious and unexpected in rural Georgia offering way more than the normal Mexican restaurant. The Birria Tacos were delicious but by far my favorite were the Habanero Mango wings fried to perfection. If you don't already know about this place you must be stopping through like we did and this place deserves your visit.“
