BBQ Bears Restaurant & Catering

We went here with about 20 to 22 senior citizens from the barrel county senior center. So everyone ordered a different meal. There was not one complaint about the food. Everything was fresh, great tasting, and everyone had smiles. This place is probably the best barbecue place you can get in town. They also got excellent catfish and their hush puppies are out of sight! So if you’re looking for a good place to eat for barbecue, seafood, even a burger give this place a try you will not be disappointed.

Did one order and was missing an entire plate of 12 smoked wings. Put in a second order and received wings clearly fried and burnt to a crisp. Wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!

We couldn’t have asked for a better caterer for our wedding! Amanda was professional, attentive, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire planning process. The food was absolutely delicious – our guests are still raving about the flavor of the barbecue and the mac & cheese. They handled everything with ease and made sure everyone was well taken care of. Highly recommend for anyone looking for exceptional service and amazing food.

Smoked wings are hearty and good!! I was a little disappointed the last time I ordered my wings. I practically was spending money here at least twice if not three times a week for lunch. And I left good tips every time, even though I had my order to go. I pulled back from coming so much now, since my last experience was not so good.

We had lunch here today. Both ordered the pork plate. The pork was great. Loved the spicy sauce. Collards were to die for. Will be back to try the ribs

I haven't had this place in a few years because the last time I did the food wasn't great. I thought I would try again and my experience was the same. I'm not sure how this place is still operating. The hush puppies were completely raw on the inside. I could only finish a little bit of the pork sandwich until I threw it away. The fries were extremely old and greasy. This place isn't cheap either. I wasted money on dinner tonight trying this place. I won't be back. I wish they would listen to their customers and work on their food quality. It seems this place is always empty for a reason. It's sad because when they first opened it was really good. We used to eat there a lot. I won't anymore.

2nd visit to this place. 1st time (spring ‘24) was really good. But they have gone straight downhill since. Ate there for dinner tonight (2 of us) and it was straight awful. Bbq pork plate came out COLD. Mac & cheese was lukewarm at best. And we had to laugh at the “Texas toast” — they literally took a piece of plain bread (absolutely zero butter, garlic, etc) and slapped it on the grill for a minute and then put it the plate. Just a total embarrassment. But to make it worse— paid $32 for 2 people to eat a meal that was lower quality than a Baptist church Wednesday evening supper or a homeless shelter.
There were just 2 kids working in there (on a Fri night); they seemed overwhelmed even though it was totally empty besides us.
Hate to say it but avoid this place and go to Smokin’ Po Boys instead.

Wonderful food and great customer service! John and his team catered our recent event and I couldn’t be happier with everything.

Tasty barbecue with generous portions. We enjoyed the macaroni and cheese and the hush puppies.

today was the first time we've gotten BBQ here, it was the best we've had in ages. We live in Hoschton but will definitely be back. Pulled pork was great and priced perfectly. Have tried many other BBQ places Barbeque Bears beats them all hands down!!

Ordered take out . Last two times we tried their food it's been extremely disappointing. They did finally have brisket unfortunately this is what we got.. un edible fat and grizzle.. not sure why anyone would purposely serve this. sides were overly salty and seemed to be from frozen or canned. Pulled pork was chopped not pulled and extremely dry..tastless

YOU MUST TRY IT!!! We tried this place last Sunday & are headed back there tonight! Their Brunswick Stew, Ribs & Homemade Ranch Dressing are AMAZING!!! The Ribs fall off the bone! The Stew & Ranch taste exactly like what we had from another BBQ place on the other side of GA that burned down years ago. I have searched many places but never found another that tasted the same. It truly brought tears to my eyes because it reminded me of my Mom, that Brunswick Stew was her favorite! Erica waited on us and she was awesome! Hearing about the owner, Amanda, and the history of the restaurant was really nice! We will make this a regular restaurant for sure!
