Pho Vientiane…food truck extraordinaire
I admit that I’m a bit of a foodie and I’m always looking for new and tasty places to eat. I have even traveled abroad in anticipation of experiencing the local cuisine.
I was originally introduced to the world of phở by a Vietnamese friend a lifetime ago. I have been exploring the variations of the iconic dish ever since. My favourite restaurant in the world is Vietnamese-owned and operated, back in Canada.
While visiting the Islands, I only recently had occasion to spontaneously stop and try “Pho Vientiane,” a long-time frozen-in-place food truck—secreted along the Kamehameha Hwy, Hauula - on Oahu’s North Shore.
I was more than pleasantly surprised by the quality and selection of Vietnamese street food this wonderful eatery was offering.
The proprietors of this humble food truck were quintessentially customer service-focused.
The menu options are impressively diverse, especially considering the size of the space in which they are stored and prepared. The service was impressively expedient, and the quality and generous size of the offerings were extraordinary.
I was sufficiently impressed by Pho Vientiane to offer up five stars for the authentic tastes they offer. They are every bit as addictive as those I experienced in South Vietnam - back in the day.

Beef lemongrass Ban Mi & Spring rolls were super good. Added avocado on the sandwich. Rolls were cooked perfectly, not greasy, just crispy and the filling had great flavor & fresh. Wasn't too hungry but i couldn't stop eating. Finished it all. 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

OMG! One of the best pho I’ve had. The broth is delicious! Must stop by for this if you are going to PCC or Kualoa Ranch from Waikiki.

Incredible lemongrass chicken Bahn Mi and tofu summer rolls made to order. So fresh and full of flavor. Service was very welcoming and friendly. Highly recommended!
Small food truck just up the street from Pat’s condos. We ordered on arrival but several people had called in for takeaway that became ready as we waited for our food to be prepared. We ordered the avocado spring rolls and they were SO good. The peanut sauce was amazing! Also had the avocado banh mi sandwich…all the vegetables were super fresh and the pickled cucumbers made it extra special. Very tasty dressing as well. The star of the show was the tofu pho…just WOW!! All of the vegetables were super fresh again…crisp bean sprouts and jalapeños, perfectly cooked daikon radish & carrot, tender braised tofu, and the pho broth…so flavorful & rich it left us wanting more. We’re already planning how to fit in another meal here before we leave…thanks for an amazing meal! ❤️
Vegetarian options: Plenty of vegetarian options including avocado, tofu & vegetarian pho broth, which was the most delicious I’ve ever had!
