Ordered the garlic ahi sandwich to go. It was delicious. The bun is what made it over the top! I would definitely order it again highly recommend. Prices are reasonable for the amount of food served.

As of today Hudie's Hawaiian Kitchen is definitely my favorite Hawaiian Food place. I had the Mauka to Makai plate, my choice of poke was the Keaukaha. The Opihi was so delicious in the poke I can't even explain the taste. It was a very beautiful and tastey experience. The food was so delicious and amazing that mouth was full with taste it had my palate going crazy. I would definitely recommend people to go and experience the awesome flavored food on their own. As for me and my coworkers, we are definitely going back. It's a very very clean establishment. Awesome customer service full with Aloha. Go and check it out Delicious Hawaiian Food. Thank you Hudie's Hawaiian Kitchen for the amazing hospitality. From KE HAWAII MEDIA & PACIFIC TASTER'S

Best Hawaiian food in Hilo! Eat there at least twice a week for dinner, great service and friendly. Love DA ALI'I special which has everything a Hawaiian plate should have on it and especially love the KEAUKAHA poke !!!

My husband and I went to Verna's and ordered a Hawaiian plate but they said they didn't have any. While there, we got a recommendation from another customer to eat at Hudie's, so we ended up going there since it was just a hundred feet away. The man said it was pricey but good. When we got there we noticed the cleanliness of the place. We wanted to try all their Hawaiian food so we ordered Da Ali'i, which had almost everything on it, but since it was pretty expensive ($19.50) we decided to share it. It came with 2 small scoops of rice with furikake, laulau, kalua pig, chicken long rice, squid luau, lomi salmon, haupia, poi, and a side of warabi salad. The portion sizes were great, except for the rice, which I think should be bigger scoops since it's the main staple on the plate. Overall, the laulau and kalua pig was super salty. As we ate it kept getting saltier and by the end we were just unable to finish both of it. They both tasted oven made and quite dry, and like week old leftovers. The laulau was over cooked as the leaves were brown and was very salty too. The kalua pig was nicely shredded but didn't have that liquid smoke flavor. The chicken long rice tasted like reheated chicken broth poured over long rice, which wasn't fully cooked. The chicken was tender but don't have taste. Contrast to the laulau and kalua pig, the squid luau was too sweet and unfortunately didn't have one single piece of squid in it. I was bummed. Lomi salmon was ok, but not fresh. Haupia was ok. Warabi salad was ok as well. Our favorite thing on the plate was the poi; I think maybe it was Taro brand? Perhaps if there was more rice we could've finished the whole plate but too bad the main dishes were too salty. We also got a kalua pig plate which came with 2 small scoops rice with furikake, and lomi salmon. Same batch of kalua pig, salty. The kalua pig in the nachos we got was also very salty. It came on a bed of tortilla chips and side of lomi salmon. It would've been ok, but too salty with the kalua and salted chips. The unagi aioli was good. The girl that worked there was the only worker. She took time to prepare our plates. She was really nice and friendly so we did tip her. The eating area was very clean also, which I think was commendable. I think if Hudie's improved the quality and consistency of their food maybe it would be worth eating there again as Hilo does need a good restaurant with Hawaiian plates. After eating a Kanaka at Waiāhole Poi Factory on Oahu for less than $14 with almost the same things, it was disappointing. Hopefully my review will help to make the food better, as I try my best to support local people on the islands. I'll try this place again in the future, hope to change my review.

Good local food. Our family dinner was made to order, their laulau are amazing and the kalua nachos are one of my favorites. We will definitely be eating there again.

Came out to the big island from California to get away for the weekend and visit some friends who live here. I asked them to take me around to local gems and this is definitely one of them. I have a very picky vegan girlfriend and she was finally happy with food!!! Hats off guys that is NOT easy. As a meat loving carnivore I didnt have to sacrifice to make her happy either as I got the kalua nachos topped with lomi salmon. Havent been this happy walking out of a restaurant in a while!

Brought my friends who are vegan. They said oh yes we have vegan tofu wrap. Great. They went to eat it and there was shrimp in it. What's worse is I ordered the poke. I am now in bed sick from it. The staff has no clue what they are doing.
