Makani’s Magic Pineapple Shack

The girl working there didn’t get my order correct and when I said something she tried to tell me that’s what I ordered. I ordered an ores milkshake and it tasted like pure milk. I let her know and she says that’s how their milkshakes taste. Very upsetting can it cost 15$ for something that tastes just like straight milk.

Pregnant Lady with a heart tattoo by her eye eyes me out as soon as I walk in there? Looks all annoyed. Takes my order and charges me for a “$1 topping” and a “$2 topping”. When I only added ONE topping. My total was always $6.81 for the soft serve dragon fruit cup but I added a $1 topping to get charged for a $1 AND $2 topping. So my total came to $9.95.
Also btw I would come here multiple times a week and I always left a tip. For my $6.81 total I’d leave $1.19 cent tip which is 17.5% tip okay. I get maybe you would have eyed me out and added all those charges on multiple different times because I never left tip or I’m rude but I was always friendly always left a pretty great tip. At least I’d leave a damn tip. Anyways ever since then I never went back and you won’t be having my business ever again. I’ve been coming here multiple times a week since January supporting this business and never had this problem till now. After the first instance I was like okay maybe she was just having a bad day, she is pregnant too so I’m just going to be nice. But it’s been every single time I go there and she’s never worked there this much so I’m not going again. Even my friend came with me one time and ordered a cup of ube ice cream. She was eyeing my friend out too and gives her the cup of ice cream HALF FULL. Mine you my friend also LEFT A TIP $1.50. So $8 for a half scoop of ice cream. Food is great but service and atmosphere isn’t. Still wanted to come here but every time I go she’s there so never going again and it’s just annoying because I’ve never done anything to you??? We were always nice always leave tip. Sometimes we would eat in and when leaving we cleanup after ourselves of course and say thank you as we leave. but I guess she has trips with her own self cause we literally never did nothing.

Very good but too sweet to finish

We were very excited to visit the Pineapple shack, as its reputation online is incredible. Even before coming to Hilo, I’d known about this place and was quite excited. Unfortunately, when I arrived, the staff member working was on her phone and only somewhat helpful. To echo previous critical reviews, the drink my partner ordered (ube cookies and cream) didn’t seem to contain much cookies and cream, it didn’t look at all like the photo. Instead of having ice cream, it was watery/milky. I ordered the dole whip and was disappointed to see that the cup was different than pictured and when I had asked about both drinks, there was little explanation given and no intent to understand my concerns on behalf of the staff. Afterwards, I saw the place close several hours before normal hours and turn away several customers. For the cost of the drinks / ice cream, I can only say that the experience was unfortunately disappointing. We came very excited to visit and try the food, but left feeling quite unhappy with the level of service and the food.

I’m not sure who is working October 5th at around 2:30, but very disappointed in the service. The girl working was very short and dismissive. After we ordered, she continued taking other people’s orders and serving them before us. Once she served 8 other people, we walked over and said she must’ve forgot our order she said “oh did I?” Then proceeded to rush and make our 1 drink order, set it on the counter, and didn’t say a thing to us. The ice cream was overflowing and dripping out of the cup when she handed it to us, and the pineapple tasted very fermented.

Ordered a pineapple whip which was $12.00 each got a smaller cup not as shown in the picture. When I questioned the girl she said they had changed cups over the year they should let people know that before they buy it

We got some Ube ice cream and loved the presentation. It's so bright and colorful! The staff seemed like high schoolers without a care in the world but they got everyone done alright.

Staff was very friendly but the Shake was way too thin. Got the ube cookies and cream shake but so much milk added is was like drinking slightly flavored milk.

Terrible service I asked them for a Dole Whip and then the girl looks at me like what rolls her eyes and then her boyfriend came out of the kitchen and started cursing at me.

Nice place and good atmosphere. We got some ice cream cones and a smoothie. It was all very good but slightly pricey. Give them a try
