Mohala’s Bayfront Fish and Chips is highly praised for its exceptional fish and chips, often described as some of the best ever experienced. The mahi mahi fish and chips with garlic dill sauce is particularly popular, with many reviewers calling it the best they’ve ever had. The ono fish and ono dishes are also well-loved, with one customer noting that even a non-fish eater enjoyed the ono. Portions are large and prices are considered decent, making it a great value for the quality and quantity of food. The captain’s platter is recommended for sharing, as it can feed three people. The atmosphere is friendly, highlighted by entertaining open mic nights and a nicely decorated bar that isn’t too crowded. Service is appreciated, with staff being kind and accommodating, including generous gestures like allowing bathroom use. Customers also praise the clean environment and quick service, especially during midday visits. While some meals occasionally arrived with minor errors, the overall experience remains highly positive. Visitors frequently mention the delicious food, welcoming staff, and the spot’s enjoyable ambiance, making Mohala’s Bayfront Fish and Chips a must-visit for fish and chips lovers in Hilo.
