“We visited The Temple several times while we were in Hilo in January 2023. Interesting and unknown cocktails are offered that tasted very good. There is a small but fine selection of delicacies to accompany your meal. They are not multi-course dishes; in terms of size and filling, they are more like European starters in both respects. The atmosphere and the charm of the location are something. It's difficult to describe. Go and feel. There's something relaxing about it.There's a bit of the Hilo lifestyle thrown in too. It's not like the tourist bars in Waikiki. There are locals here.Vegetarian options: There are vegetarian dishes.Parking: You can park on the side of the road in front of the building. Since we were able to reach The Temple on foot from the hotel, we can't say how much luck and time it took to get a parking space.“
“The food was excellent. We had scallops and fish. And of course onion rings! Everything was Panko coated and cooked to perfection. Liz waited on us and she was just fantastic! Thanks for everything! You absolutely must stop here for a meal. Highly recommend.“
“Awesome! I love local dive bars and this one didn't disappoint. Great friendly bar tender (Nathan) and they have TROPICAL DRINKS!! Especially in this Covid BS they make it work! Totally recommend this place...little skeptical when I parked, but glad I stayed!“
“If youre staying at the Hilton, dont pass up the opportunity to enjoy the many offerings here. Open air windows and pleasant music greet you in the am for strong complimentary coffee and breakfast offerings. Try the spam musubi, especially if you have that resort credit. Evenings great local Hawaiian music and hula dancers entertain you while you enjoy their special island breeze cocktail. Our party of 4 finally decided to just eat dinner there on a Friday night .. place was packed, but food came out pretty quick. We were all surprised how good it was (Im sober so can't blame that). Prices reasonable service friendly. Margherita flat bread, Kailua pork w cabbage and the pulled pork were scarfed quickly. Entertainment was fabulous on Friday. I recommend this place for casual meal and drinks.“
“Honestly, been coming to the Tavern for a decade and always have a good time. The venue space is evolving into more restaurant vibes which had its +\- (but big + for being one of the latest places serving food when every other restaurant kitchen in Hilo is closed!), but my STARS go to the Exhibit Gallery because it is 100% where I go FIRST w/ drink in hand to ease into the overall scene. I’m sincerely grateful for this art centered space. It allows for introspection, one-on-one conversations and true enrichment. Every time I come in there is something new to appreciate! My home is adorned with at least 3 pieces purchased from this gallery, each being a dynamic conversation starter for friends/family/visitors. I wish more bars had art galleries inherit within, creating a space to warm up to the external vibes and emerge centered and confident. MAHALO to the gallery owner for providing this safe space to network, grow and for LAYAWAY, making art affordable and accessible for the community!“
“My husband & I stopped in for a small quick bite and we settled on the nachos with chorizo added on as our meat choice. How can you go wrong with nachos right? They did not disappoint! The nachos were plentiful and delicious. The chorizo was very flavorful and toppings were plentiful. There were a good amount of tables to sit at, under covered area. The service time took about 25 minutes, but the gentleman taking our order was up front about the wait time which I really appreciated. The only observation we made was that there was no hot sauce anywhere. I should have asked the man in the window if there was hot sauce or jalapeño for purchase as I like my food a little spicy. Next time I will and there will definitely be a next time. If the owner is reading this, can you tell me if you offer hot sauce or jalapeños to add on? Thank you“
