Usually when people here in Hawaii speak of chicken papaya they're talking about the soup. I was happy to find a half papaya filled with chicken salad! Was very good! And it came with a piece of very yummy bread pudding! My companions all enjoyed their various lunches and we will definitely return to try other menu options!

the chicken spinach pasta was phenomenal! one of the best dishes of pasta I've ever had. creamy white sauce.. not too heavy not too light. and a slice of garlic bread. super yummy and I thought the female waitress was really friendly. I can't wait to go here next!

Outstanding dining experience. From the tablecloth clad tables, to the freshest ingredients expertly prepared, this place is a real gem. The lamb shank was so tender and flavorful, it literally fell off the bone. The potatoes and carrots were so fresh, they could have been harvested today. The lobster ravioli was so decadent and filling, neither of us (sadly) had room for dessert. Five-star dinner at a very reasonable price.
The food here is great. I have had both pasta and the shrimp creole as well as the fondue. The creole could stand to be a bit spicier, but that is a personal thing. It was very flavorful though.I was considering the loss of a star as a result of short staffing. Although we were told of the delay, we didn't expect to wait an hour after ordering. Nevertheless, The food did outweigh the very delayed service.

5 star experience in Hilo? Try classy dining at affordable prices. A great restaurant-experience realized! This PapaJac created an ambiance with fresh kitchen aromas, 'vibe music', professional decor and attentive staff, the menu sells itself with soups, salads and sandwiches, there's literally something for everyone! PJ's concept of "Classy dining at affordable prices" takes you immediately into a world where you feel comfortable and like you made a good choice and then anxious to see your lunch or dinner exceed your expectations! Bon appetito!

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Food and service were both excellent. Homemade ginger ice cream was a special treat. Bonus… it was very nice sitting at a table with table linen. Will definitely be back soon :)

Restaurantji Recommends
The plate was 14"x6" with eight, three inch in diameter cheese ravioli, topped with spinach, four shrimp, mushrooms, tiny tomatoes and short sticks of parmesan cheese. An absolutely delicious and stunning presentation. Exemplary service and sooo reasonable. This restaurant is worth a trip to Hilo no matter where you are staying on the big island. Oh yes, there is individual French press coffee too! A gem of a restaurant, don't miss it!!!!! PS. My friends Greek salad was astounding, a masterpiece, the best she ever ate.

There was hardly anyone in there. Empty when we came in. Then one woman came in. We ordered minestrone soup and it tasted like it had turned bad. Then we ordered the chicken Oriental salad and it was very good. We shared it. Then they gave us a piece of cheesecake to make up for it and subtracted the cost of the soup. They were very nice.

My family and I went there this past weekend, the food was awesome. The atmosphere was great. Everything we ordered tasted really fresh and made from scratch. I loved the pumpkin curry soup. The escargot was awesome! We devoured the mushrooms. We had chicken pasta, the sauce was rich but didn't make you feel heavy after. The star of the night though was the roasted lamb shank. The meat fell off the bone, we didn't need to use our knives although they provided us with it. The cheesecake for dessert was homemade and sooooo good! We didn't get pictures of the other stuff because we were too busy eating it. Lol!
