We stopped here for takeout during our weekend on Hawai'i. I had no idea that such high quality barbeque existed on the islands. Definitely compares to some of the better barbeque I've had in the Carolinas and Virginia. I highly recommend stopping here!

I was unsure when i got here as the sign says Crazy grandmas'. We almost headed back out but the server/owner(?) ushered as in and told us that they only have a brisket sandwich , pork ribs and pulled pork, we both said its fine. The decor is outdated, but if youre willing to let that slide, the food is awesome. That chili beans!!! The brisket, pulled pork and ribs are tender, flavorful and smoked to perfection. Pleasantly surprised but always a good indocator when locals are eating there. Love the family vibe,the food is impeccable.

I phoned order about 2 hours early had hope it would be ready nope I had the beef brisket tough and fatty all 4 pieces wife had Combo pulled pork, beef brisket and pork ribs she just didn't like the taste. Highly Recommend! Uncle Bob is very friendly and makes delicious food for very fair prices. Located about 8 mins from the airport, we found the place by just driving by at the end of our trip. The chili and rice blew me away and if we go back to Hilo I will visit Bob’s again just for that alone! My two girls enjoyed their pulled pork sandwich with cornbread and my wife, who only wanted coleslaw, ate half of my brisket sandwich as well! Bob mentioned he’s going to fix up the signs, as he’s just recently taken over, so I look forward to seeing what he comes up with!

By far the best bbq on the Hawaiian Islands Lived in Kansas and Missouri for one year and this is even better.The owner is so humble and said that he loves doing this out of love for cooking. Please go to get some ono bbq, don't anywhere else. The hostess was also so friendly and comfortable vibes. The brisket was so tender, juicy and the baked beans was delicious. Mix his sweet bbq sauce with spicy bbq on top of both beans and brisket. Will be going there soon again

“Best ribs I’ve ever had” says my BBQ loving husband.
My 1 year old & 3 year old housed the beans, cornbread and pulled pork. I couldn’t get enough of the fresh, delicious peppery slaw and their homemade sauces. My whole family rated it 5 stars and the best food of our trip (and we’ve been all over multiple islands).
We were so appreciative of the quality and cuts of the meats. Nothing overly fatty and all the meats were succulent and rib meat fell right he off the bone.
Four adults ordered two combos and it was perfect. We added a side of beans and Mac n cheese for the kids and shared everything. It ruled. We ended up ordering an extra cornbread and slaw cause we wanted more!
When you first walk in you aren’t sure you’re in the right place. The chef is making the food at his home and bringing it into the bar a few days a week and cooking at home on the other days. Probably by the time you read this there will be an Uncle Bob’s BBQ oasis and global franchise cause this bbq is so good.
I hope they’ll get a couple high chairs soon and some keiki cups. What would also be amazing are a few toddler plates or bowls that suction to the table.
I have no doubt Uncle Bob will go far! We can say we knew them when!
Ordered Take out. Food was ready as soon as I got there. Hot and amazing. Best BBQ this side of the (insert some river here, it doesn't matter which one cause it's amazing BBQ). Sauces are amazing, brisket falls off the fork, pulled pork is sweet and savory and fluffy. Cornbread and Cole slaw are delicious and unique. Such great flavor combos for a complete BBQ dinner. Recommended it to friends before my fingers were clean, no lie.

This is a humble building that’s easy to overlook but a great experience! As Texans who love bbq, we were not expecting it to compare. It was PHENOMENAL, however. The meats are tender, sauces are flavorful and coleslaw is the best I’ve ever tasted. Very nice people too! Go to Hilo and eat here.
