We are so lucky to have an authentic Chinatown here in Honolulu with little shops such as this who are doing it right! Succulent moist meats served on rice with a side of bok choy. You can also buy the meats by the pound to take home. I love this place. Super authentic and delicious. Very reasonably priced too. My photo shows a charsiu mini plate?

I recently ordered from New Char Siu House through DoorDash and, unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While I was excited to indulge in their renowned Char Siu, the pricing on DoorDash was shockingly high at $25 per pound. First and foremost, the exorbitant price tag took me by surprise. I've been a loyal customer of New Char Siu House for quite some time, and I've always appreciated the quality of their dishes. However, this time, the pricing seemed unjustifiably steep, especially considering I've paid significantly less elsewhere. While I understand that DoorDash may have its own set of fees and charges, a $25 per pound price for Char Siu feels excessive. This experience has left me questioning whether the convenience of delivery is worth the inflated cost, particularly when compared to nearby alternatives. I hope New Char Siu House and DoorDash can reevaluate their pricing strategy to ensure a fair and transparent experience for their customers. Until then, I'll be considering alternative options that provide a more reasonable balance between quality and affordability.

My favorite Filipino takeout place was closed and I had ventured into Chinatown to go there, which I rarely do. On my way back to my car, I passed the New Char Siu House. I decided to stop in. It was early morning and there were no customers. I decided to get a half pound of Char Siu and a half a cold Ginger Chicken with extra sauce. It came out to just under $20. Prices are very reasonable! That saying, you get what you pay for, applies here. The cold chicken was a half chicken, as i saw it being cut up. However, it was a small chicken and IMO more bones & skin. I love Ginger Onion Sauce. The one here is so salty, I ended up using Oyster Sauce. The Char Siu was dry and tough. The flavor was good though. I have had way better Cold Ginger Chicken & Char Siu at other restaurants in Honolulu. Service by the young man who spoke English was friendly. I won't be back!

I love this friggin place. The char siu is some of the best I've had anywhere. Love the pig ears and roast duck as well. True hole in da wall. Go there in the morning. They sell out everyday.

Friendly service and must try Roast duck. Go early because they sell out quick! Won to. Is to die for. Sell it in a bag frozen for those days when you want won ton soup but too lazy to go out!

Meh...expected more from the Char Siu. It was okay...little sweet on the front end, then no taste. Little dry. The burnt parts are always the best... same with this one, but not much of it. Pig ear was okay. Really not my thing so I'm not the best judge. Hubs liked it. Will go back so I can try their roast pork...but probs get my char siu elsewhere.

Hands down the best roast pork and charsiu!!!! I've tried many places but they all don't have that crispy crunch that they have here. So if you have a legitimate challenger for me bring it on. It doesn't get any better in Hawaii.Boom Mic Drop

I was anticipating that this new place that specializes in char siu, roast pork and roast duck would be amazing, albeit a "hole in the wall" on a busy Maunakea street. Heard about this from a friend who saw a recent segment on Cheap Eats or some other local news piece. On the TV segment it looked like there was a small area to sit, but not anymore as itʻs a small, tight spot. The large bento was $15 for a combo char siu and roast duck. Came with a lot of rice, some ong choy (nice touch) and a small container of sauce for the duck. The lady at the register was pleasant and the prep and take out meal came fast and hot. The taste of the char siu was a little different than others. good but not a "wow" and the roast duck was also good. I would return if in the area but would not make a special trip for this.

Char Siu and shoyu chicken are absolutely the best. Very nice people who work there.

Traditional Chinese BBQ pork, roast pork and soy sauce chicken. Get there when they open at 7:30 and you can smell and see the steam coming off the road pork. Good service.

Tried this place through door dash and was very happy with all the food. We ordered about 5 different meats and all of them were a hit with my family. Seeing the old reviews, it seems that the owners must be reading these and making the needed changes because the what we got was perfectly seasoned, cut, portioned and packed. Will be my new go-to for roasted meats!
