My family and I have been coming here for years and have never been treated this way. My mom was getting coffee with a friend who has a brain tumor that affects her auditory senses. Often, near the end of the day at Talk, the music gets louder and… more specific to the employees individual tastes, which is fine. I’ve worked in coffee shops and understand how annoying it is to listen to the same generic “vibe-ey” music all day long. The volume of the music was physically painful for my mom’s friend, because of her tumor’s proximity to her auditory nerve. My mom asked, politely (I’ve seen her do this before), if the music could be turned down. The waitress responded rudely and huffed off, claiming she would turn the music down. Unclear if she did. When asked again, and again politely, if she could turn it down more, she blew up at my mom, saying that she could not accommodate everyone’s individual needs (who knows what legal implications that has given the Americans with Disability Act…). She slammed things around, said she’d just turn off the music, and stormed off. My mom later approached her and explained how offensive her behavior was. She did apologized to my mom, still angrily, and said that she had had a long day and worked the evening shift at Talk’s bar the night before. While I empathize with this, it’s a really lousy excuse for treating a customer, or anyone, this way. Again, I’ve worked at coffee shops, I’ve worked long shifts at coffee shops, and I would never, never treat a customer this way, especially given that this, in my opinion, was a reasonable request. My mom felt humiliated, angry, and upset. I don’t know what I would have done if I had been there. I would normally not leave a review like this, but this is unacceptable. I’m in my 20s, and I know that this is inacceltable. I have been going to Talk since middle school, while it was still Coffee Talk- this is really disappointing.

Very bad coffee, it tasted water down and sour. I dont know if I got it on an off day but it wasn’t worth it. The way they take care of your drink is odd, They will take your order, make it, then make you pay. It was a weird system, I felt bad for the person in back of me who couldve gotten his coffee alot faster.

Honestly, this place has a cool vibe, but it’s laid out so weird. There’s almost no room to occupy while waiting in line. Someone takes your order and then makes your order, instead of one person taking the orders and one person making the food. So it took longer than any other coffee places I’ve been to for that reason. The coffee taste burnt and was overall pretty disappointing. I felt like they didn’t actually care about making good quality drinks so much as just getting us out of the line. The ham and cheese roll I got was almost wet just not good at all.

absolutely loved this coffee shop until a bad experience yesterday. i can’t handle too much dairy so i drink “flat white.” i ordered one, tipped $2, then was handed a massive latte. i said, “wow, that’s a big cup of milk.”
i said i ordered a “flat white” and asked if it could be remade. i pointed out a flat white is stronger, it’s a smaller ratio of espresso:milk. the barista told me, “you’re wrong, flat white just means no foam. next time you can ask for a smaller cup.”
i left, but should have just abandoned the latte on the counter. barista seemed very unfamiliar with standard coffee drinks and was annoyed i asked her to correct my order. she was so rude about it, i will not be coming back here.

I met my friend early on Saturday morning had some good coffee and some espresso coffee cake and we sat and planned our trip over to Kailua kona. The girls at the counter were great and I definitely will be going back

Everything about this place is great but the coffee. Nice atmosphere, plenty of space to sit. Decent looking pastries, and they have a bar at night. Sadly ive been here many times and NEVER had a decent coffee. And thats not being pretentious, mcdonalds coffee blows theirs out of the park which is saying more than it should. Theyre always busy and overhyped so they do fine, but curb or somehwhere else is going to have cheaper coffee thats actually drinkable.

I stopped by for a quick breakfast sandwich before running errands. There’s usually a line but it goes quickly. The staff is exceptionally friendly. I got my sandwich to go and was pleasantly surprised that it still came on a plate. It had a beautiful cheese pull and hit the spot.

Got thrown out after ordering and sitting quietly in the back. Apparently they didn't like the way I looked.
Talk Kaimuki is more than just a coffee shop—it’s a space that brings people together. This was for a special event however i’ve been before. Nestled in the heart of Kaimuki, this cozy café radiates warmth, making it the perfect place to start your morning, catch up with friends, or dive into a good book with a great cup of coffee in hand.
The coffee is rich, smooth, and crafted with care, while the menu offers a mix of fresh pastries, wholesome bites, and locally inspired flavors that keep you coming back. But what truly makes Talk Kaimuki special is the atmosphere.
At night it goes from coffee to comfy where Brit, Noah, and the team escort you to nirvana! Whether you’re looking for a quiet spot to work, an inspiring environment to create, or a wind-down/turn-up, this place delivers. Staff are a true reflection of the owner.
Talk Kaimuki embodies the true spirit of the neighborhood. If you’re looking for more than just coffee—if you’re looking for a place to visit or belong—this is it.

The Wi-Fi is fast and the service friendly (the afternoon staff was great) but…
The baked goods were quite bland, and instead of fluffy or moist a bit gummy.
The tea wasn’t given time to steep before tossing milk in and was nothing special. The coffee was fine but again nothing special.
It’s incredibly loud, and unless you want to sit in the back by the restrooms there’s no plugs which limits your time if you go to study or work (which is how we ended up there).
Maybe cocktails are better!
