⭐ 1/5 - Terrible Food Quality - Don't Waste Your Money**

I'm genuinely shocked at how poor the food quality was at The Deck in Waikiki. Despite the beautiful location and the promise of American Pacific-inspired cuisine, our dining experience was an absolute disaster.

We visited with a group and ordered several entrees, and every single dish had major problems:

The **filet mignon** - which should be the star of any menu - arrived at our table **completely cold**. Not lukewarm, but cold, as if it had been sitting on a counter for 20 minutes before being served. For a premium cut of beef at these prices, this is inexcusable. When you're paying top dollar for filet, the absolute bare minimum is that it should be served hot.

The **chicken Caesar salad** was equally baffling - it came out essentially as a plate of dry lettuce and chicken with **no dressing whatsoever**. How do you forget the Caesar dressing on a Caesar salad? It's literally in the name! We had to flag down our server to get dressing, which turned what should have been a simple dish into an ordeal.

The **Kauai garlic shrimp** was perhaps the worst offender - the garlic was **burnt to a crisp**, giving the entire dish a bitter, acrid taste that was completely inedible. This is basic cooking 101 - don't burn the garlic. We could barely get through a few bites before giving up.

For a restaurant in prime Waikiki charging tourist prices, this level of kitchen incompetence is unacceptable. It's clear that either the kitchen staff doesn't care, or management isn't supervising food quality before it leaves the kitchen. Either way, there are dozens of better restaurants within walking distance that actually know how to properly prepare and serve food.

**Save your money and go literally anywhere else.**

Had three experiences at this restaurant. Two were among the very worse restaurant experiences of my life. One was adequate. The food is fine. The views are decent. Unfortunately the wait staff are all unhappy, grumpy, and literally don’t wait on customers. It was so bad that at least had a dozen guests outside of our party were going up to the waiter station themselves to fill their own water and get things like utensils and napkins. There are much better options for service in Honolulu. Don’t go here unless you want to wait an hour for a drink and get the wrong food! That’s what happened to us 2/3 visits on this trip.

The view of Diamondhead is unparalleled. You can also see Waikiki beach.

The service is miserable. The servers hate all customers and themselves. It takes 45 minutes to get a coffee. It's a two hour ordeal to get a meal. Want your check? Good luck. Hope you don't have anything scheduled that day.

The food is decent.

From the moment my family walked in, the experience was off to a bad start. The welcome was unfriendly, and it felt like the staff didn’t want to be there. Upon being seated we heard the disgruntled employees cursing and complaining to eachother; either complaining about a manger or perhaps about a fellow customer. I don’t want to jump to conclusions but still unprofessional and created a tense atmosphere. A server brought us water and then disappeared for about 15 minutes before we were assigned a new one and were finally able to place our drink orders. The drinks themselves were also very poor.

We ordered the raw fish appetizer and were told it would take over an hour to prepare, which was alarming since nothing needed to be cooked. When our entrées finally arrived, the food was disappointing. The short ribs were decent, but the salmon was slimy and undercooked.

After finishing our meal, we asked for a dessert menu. When we said we decided not to order dessert, the server responded with, “Good — McDonald’s has better dessert,” which was extremely unprofessional.

Overall, I would pass on this restaurant unless you’re only going for the views and some drama.

The food was good, but the service was terrible. Our dishes were served with no utensils, and we couldn’t find our server. When we asked other staff for help, they were rude and said, “I’m not your server.” To make things worse, our bill included two drinks we never ordered ($40), and there was no apology when we pointed it out. Very disappointing service.

I frequented this place when I lived in Waikiki. Everything I tried here was amazing. The deck burger was one of the best burgers I’ve ever had in my life! The staff was always super nice and helpful. And the view of Diamond Head and the ocean was fantastic. The vibe is just so nice. One of my favorite spots on the island.

Overhyped… The view was beautiful, but the food and service were disappointing. We ordered the braised beef loco moco, only to be told 20 minutes later that it would take two hours to prepare.

The chairs had bird droppings, the bathroom smelled like urine, service was extremely slow, and prices were very high. I wouldn’t return or recommend this place.

Their braised beef loco moco is the best loco moco that I’ve ever had, and I’ve lived on the island for a decade! They have solid pancakes too. Breathtaking views. Friendly service!

Nice place. I got fish tacos and the guacamole and it had no flavor. It was very bland. I also got a Mai tai that did not taste like a Mai tai. The waitress said that is their style of a Mai tai there which was a no for me.

Had higher expectations, the view is amazing. The vibe was really nice as well but the food seriously disappointed me. I ordered the Caesar salad with shrimp and couldn’t finish it. The dressing was so bland the croutons were so oily I felt like I was drinking a spoonful of oil. The same thing with the truffle fries, so oily. We also ordered fish tacos and were very bland as well. I would not come back or recommend this place
