Food was authentic tasting Japanese food. Greeted when I got there. Tables were clean. The parking lot is good sized and I found an open stall right away. Most customers seemed like they lived close by since they arrived by foot and not by car. Price was reasonable. The reason for the 5 stars is that my elderly parents loved the food. My mom is a picky eater.

Great food for casual Japanese dining. The other side has a bakery. Spacious and comfy. Lemon water is self-service & free. Cellular data signal is good too.
This place is a local hangout for folks who like to eat Japanese dishes. Happy hour is on Monday-Fri from 3-5 pm.
The Ginger Pork meal was good, has a kick to it and a faint shiso (Japanese basil) on the rice. The Gyudon bowl has a nice calm taste to it, and a deliciously rich egg to make it at the center of the bowl. Miso salmon is good dish worth trying, on the slightly salty side.
If you need more flavor to the food, there’s the nanami togarashi (assorted chili pepper) that goes well with the meat, salt, pepper, Japanese soy sauce, and chili Tabasco options. The air plant adds to the good ambiance.
Plates are returned on the side near the restroom by the patrons. Restrooms are clean. If you want a takeout box, ask from the counter.

Casual dining. Friendly staff. Good food that can either be take out or eat in on actual plates with silverware. There is a small parking lot and a restroom.

You’ve probably driven past this spot at South Beretania & McCully, but trust me ...it’s worth pulling over for. Nearly everything here is made in-house, and Chef Dell (who’s also behind Vein in Kaka‘ako) is absolutely delivering.
Expect top-quality ingredients like fresh Mio Pastalogy pasta, egg salad sandwiches made with Japanese eggs, and premium-grade Matsuri rice. The biggest win? It’s affordable without compromising on flavor or portion size.
– A lineup of favorites worth every bite:
- Egg Salad Sammy!!
- Kawagoe housemade gyoza with mustard sauce
- Kurobuta Tonkatsu
- Izakaya Kawagoe’s famous chicken karaage
- Garlic Chili Chicken
- Mahi Furikake Katsu
– Small private lot for dine-in or takeout, plus nearby street parking when it gets busy.
– Spacious dining area with plenty of room to relax and enjoy.
– Warm, friendly, and attentive from start to finish.

I love the loco moco here—it comes with a very tasty sauce, grilled onions, and mushrooms. The salad dressing was excellent, and the potato side was delicious too. This loco moco bento, feels like a Hawaiian loco moco with a Japanese fusion twist, and the quality is amazing for the price. Everything is made to order, so it takes about 20 minutes to get your food, but it’s worth it because it’s freshly prepared. I absolutely love this place.

Burnt nori chicken. Ordered chicken adder for wafu shoyu butter noodle but didn’t get the chicken. Called them back and they did refund the $2.50 to add the chicken. I ate the miso salmon. That was perfectly cooked and seasoned. Very good.

Ordered loco moco. The hamburger was good. The biggest issue I had was how sweet it was. I think it was the onions, like they used sweet onions, making the sautee sweet which didn't work well with the gravy imo.
Service was avg (technically there was 6 of us each ordering separately and I ordered second but got my food last) but ehh that can be due to a multitude of factors so I'd say avg. Nothing greatly wrong and nothing amazing either.
Atmosphere was avg. It was pretty clean. There are bins set up to clear your own plates, which depending on how you feel about that, that could be a negative. I'm sure you're not required to, because I've seen staff clearing tables too.
Really biggest issue was the loco moco. I am willing to try something else just not the loco moco. Probably something more Asian than local next time.

I was able to have a fast and delicious breakfast! There is so many options for the bakery section and I really like that they have sandwiches to go available. We got a tuna sandwich, mio's salad, custard w/ fruit, and sugar toast. I love their bread because it's so light and airy! I go here often and the service is honestly hit or miss but food is the highlight for sure!
