First time here! Heard it was the best Japanese plate lunch! It was delicious. Next week it's Hamburgu Steak! Nice friendly owners. Parking in the back. Go check it out. Take out only. Call in advance!

Do-ne is a fantastic authentic Japanese bento spot. I have a high standard for Japanese cuisine and I've had two meals here with my wife and we were both very satisfied. There's a parking lot at the back of the store.

Had the salmon bento for dinner. Came with miso soup, salad and some other tasty side dishes (noodles, okra, not sure the name of the other but it was good). Even though I just walked in off the street and ordered, service was fast. $14 + tax.

Excellent special bento!! Only take out and delicious. They have a bunch of side dish offers. All reasonably priced too.

The once hole in the wall Japanese eatery has transformed into a made when ordered, takeout bento shop with authentic Japanese flavor.First, having had numerous requests from mainland yeeps to translate Japanese ingredients to their western counterpart, here goes. I promise I didn't hit my head and turn into a banana. The weekly "Special Bento" offers a cross section of their entire menu and sides. The perfect way to taste the flavors; light and slightly sweet hailing from the Kansai region of Japan. A very flavorful nishime (burdock, lotus root, dasheen, konjac, bamboo shoots simmered in a kelp / soy / sugar broth), simmered pumpkin, and shirae (ground sesame seeds, tofu, soy bean flour, and cooked watercress). Decent quality, agreeably seasoned sushi rice with reasonably fresh fish (except the ahi) used in both nigiri and mini chirashi. The ahi had a slight off, fishy taste not found in any of the other seafood.Very good, properly cooked ahi katsu and solid miso butterfish that is actually the even more flavorful gindara (sablefish) versus a black cod. Finally, if available, grab a pack of goma dango (red bean paste filled, deep fried mochi balls). Good eats.Prices are very reasonable ranging between $12 - $18.Note: This is a two person operation. Call in your order in advance. Don't be shocked when they answer in Japanese. Follow on IG for weekly specials. It may not be the most well known bento spot. It may not be the easiest to get to. The effort will satisfy.

Blown away by the special bento box at this small mom and pop shop! We called in the order for lunch, picked up and brought to eat by the beach. Highly recommend!

Have you ever seen a beautiful bento? Just take a look at my photo! I was seeking a bento lunch and Yelp led me straight to this little hole-in-the-wall off of Kalakaua Ave. At first I was hesitant, as I always associate Kalakaua with Waikiki and parking is horrendous there, however this place is closer to Ala Moana. The bento I got is called "Special Bento" and it sure was special! For just $16.50, I got a bento that had 9 small compartments with various items in it. I wish I could tell you all the items but they didn't list them on the menu. Some were familiar foods like sushi, sashimi, salmon, unagi, chicken, fruit, etc. Others were not as familiar, but still very tasty! It also came with miso soup. This is a take-out only place (at least it is as of Jan. 2023). I called my order in and it was ready in 15 min. Parking is on the left side of their place. Just drive down the narrow way and you'll see parking in the back. Service was outstanding. The lady who gave me my bento was very sweet and kind.In addition to the Special Bento, they have about 10 lunch bento options, 10 dinner bento options and a few appetizers. Lunch is from 11-1:30 and dinner is 5-8, Tues - Sat. They're closed on Sun & Mon.Get your yummy bentos here, folks!

Mom n pops are always worth looking into. Do-ne is another one of these types of shops you might want to check out. When they did dine-in service there were only a few tables, take out was brisk. They only do take out now. They put a great deal of effort into their offerings, we particularly like their sukiyaki offering and their special bento which has nine different portions which allows you to sample nine different samples- a potpourri of Japanese delights. Do-Ne is a hard working husband and wife team and they are putting out delicious food. You enter through a single lane to a rear parking area. The parking is limited but we have never had a problem because everything is take out. Check them out on Instagram, call in your order and pick it up. The longer lead time you give, the better chance they won't be sold out. Support a great Japanese restaurant that won't break da bank.

Imagine a place where you can order any dish and know it's going to be . The rice is sooooooo good and perfectly cooked( Japan Level Good). My coworkers and I have tried everything saba bento, unagi don, hamburger steak, oyster fry, salmon bento, beef tongue, tonkatsu ... etc. They have parking behind the shop and it's close to Ala Moana. Tip: To order you should always call ahead (1:30 or 11 am) and pick up is usually about 1hr later.

Update as of Sep-22:Google map says dine-in is open, but they’re actually not open for dine-in yet. Still take out only.Every dish we ordered was tasty, but the portion could be a little bigger. Perhaps it’s served as traditional Japanese portion which is somewhat less than the US standard.

We ordered takeout and the presentation was great! Everything is neat and orderly in the bag.The food is very high quality. I got the shrimp and oyster which was a special for the week. It retained its crunch and the flavor was perfect. My partner got the tuna-don and the fish was very fresh!Amazing experience!

Katsu plate was really good, the special combo plate is a bunch of relatively basic items, so I personally wouldn't recommend, but it can be fun to try a bunch of things. Pumpkin tempura unfortunately loose its crunch but still very tasty, fried mackerel breading and flavor was great, potato salad was also very enjoyable and I loved the addition of apples inside. The lady behind the counter was very nice and we appreciated how helpful she was. If I wasn't a tourist, I would order from here fairly often I think.

Do-ne NEVER fails to provide the best Japanese food!!! Everything on their menu and weekly specials are delicious. Prior to the pandemic, when Dine In was on option, their service, attention to detail in serving delicious, elegant and eye pleasing dishes, reminds me of Japan. The same can be said about their "Take Out" plates.Call in your order and they'll tell you your pick up time BTW, they're on time, which is a big plus!!Parking is conveniently located in the back of the restaurant. The owners & staff are always friendly, accommodating and you can't beat their service. Highly recommended
