"Hidden Gems in a Korean supermarket"We are always on the hunt for ono Japanese Kau Kau. After coming across a posting for Fish & Rice, and after seeing the great pics on the Yelp page, I knew I had to give them a try the first chance I got. And that chance came this week when I had to make a run to Don Quixote Kapiolani. Fish & Rice is located in the Palama Super Market which is located around the corner from DonQ on Makaloa st. They are in a mini food court which is located on the right side of the market as you enter the main entrance. This is not a huge food court, but based on what I saw there seems to be a steady flow of customers ordering Kau Kau for their after work grinds (I was there about 6pm on a weekday). Their sushi platters are a good deal and is definitely higher grade stuff than other sushi to go places. Their salmon skin salad is delicious and compliments any sushi purchase. This is a sushi kind of place with all its iterations with side offerings too.

Fish and Rice has to be the best sushi takeout place on Oahu. The freshness, attention to detail, and quality is levels ahead any other place I've tried. This place is located in the food court of Palama Supermarket along Makaloa St and Kalakaua Ave. There's parking, but can get busy. Once you enter Palama, it's to your right, at the end.Fish and Rice serves nigiri, sushi rolls and bowls, sashimi, udon, salad, platters, and appetizers. The amount of variety is restaurant level! And they also have UNI!I had the Deluxe Nigiri. It came with ahi, hamachi, unagi, hotate, tsubugai, ikura, uni, and amaebi. This is definitely ultra deluxe! Everything was so fresh, excellent quality, and very well prepared. The rice was cooked and seasoned nicely. The tuna and hamachi was melt in your mouth. The scallop, clam, and shrimp were so sweet and fresh. Ikura was just amazing--my favorite. Uni was incredibly fresh--rich and decadent. The unagi was amazing! This surprised me! It had a nice firm texture with a small roast taste.Next visit I ordered the Chirashi Bowl (I know! I like try everything!). Same as the previous, everything was excellent and well prepared. Rice was good. Ahi and hamachi were melt in your mouth fresh. The salmon was very good! Super fresh with a nice texture and light taste. The squid was quite tender. Tamago was good. Ebi was excellent (these tend to be super over cooked and rubbery). Unagi, Uni, and ikura were just amazing. No need to describe again. Also ordered Fried Oysters. These were fresh and fried very well to a nice crisp. Not over cooked at all. Oysters were sweet, and went very well with the delicious Japanese style tartar sauce.Overall, this place is awesome. I know for sure I'll be returning again and again to try more items! The prices are very, very reasonable. The food are all very well prepared and of excellent quality. Service is great. The people working there are super nice and friendly. You just feel happy going there, and even more happy after eating!

Pretty good fish for the price! I got the chirashi bowl and it had a little bit of everything. The fish tasted fresh but it wasn't the nicest cut I'd say, but with that price and the location I had a realistic expectation. The staff were friendly and got my order ready fairly quickly. I saw they also had some specials throughout the week.

I was at the UPS Store upstairs and decided to come down to get something to eat. I was feeling a little under the weather and needed something with a warm broth. I was looking around and saw that they served a beef udon.I know it's kind of weird to order udon from a sushi place, but decided to try it out. Everything was good from the udon to the beef. The broth was a tad bit sweet but had a nice flavor. The portion was rather small for $11. I go to Marugame Udon and it's twice the amount of udon for $8 with an egg.

I had an amazing Tuna Poke Bowl.

Good place to get some sushi. Overall the ingredients and quantity of the food were fine. The booth is located within the food court of Palama Supermarket. it is in a seedy part of town and the property is gated. Thus parking is limited, but there is an attendant that will help you guide in.Fish was fresh and and firm. I had the Salmon and Ikura bowl(18.00) and a Salmon Avcado roll (7.00). What I didn't like was the texture of the rice. It was too mushy, but seasoned correctly. If they can improve on that, that would be a positive step.

When Fish & Rice celebrates its birthday you just roll with it and have a bowl!Literally now thru 3/19 (Sunday) the entire menu is 20% off now how generous are they to offer us this deal to celebrate their 2nd anniversary...what a treat, so when Nadine C made this her lunch plan it was something I just couldn't resist having some freshness as well. What to have...what to have...they do have just about everything you can imagine from the basic sashimi, sushi sets, nigiri, special rolls and the ever popular bowls with family platters are available by pre-order. I decided to go with the Spicy Tuna Salad bowl. It's all made to order so you do need to be patient as they put it all together my bowl was just fresh and delightful starting with a bed of salad with tuna tossed in spicy sauce and limu to which then is topped with green onions and what looks like cheese are crunchy onions that added five stars flair of texture and layer of flavor I didn't expect.Located in Palama Market right beside Don Quijote on Makaloa St parking is tight but somehow I never have issues and having a parking attendant certainly does help with the traffic flow.Handheld or in a bowl Fish & Rice has it all...Happy 2nd Anniversary, let the good times roll!Thank you!

Takeout lunch in Honolulu, Hawaii...Do you want a good deal?Don't you think 20% off is a great discount? When are you going to go???When my Lunch Buddy told me about Fish & Rice's Second Anniversary special (it ends on 3-19-23, Sunday), I made it a point to go there - not once - but twice!Located in Palama Market, near Don Quixote on Makaloa Street, you'll find a free parking lot right in front of the two-story building. Go into the nicely air conditioned market, look to the right and find the Food Court. Fish & Rice Is right before Vons Chicken and after Upon Waffles.Place your order at the window where you'll receive a number on your receipt. Walk around the market while you wait. There's fresh produce, household goods, Korean ingredients such as seaweed, noodles, kimchi, and more! When you return to Fish & Rice, your order will be ready! The service is very efficient and pleasant! Enjoy!Note: I got the Deluxe Sushi box on the first day... and Nigiri A and Nigiri B on the second day. Everything was beautifully presented and tasty! I liked the uni, ikura, amaebi, hotate, and unagi the best!I'm glad that they asked me if I wanted wasabi on my sushi... Because I don't like it. However, each set comes with sliced ginger and wasabi in the corner of the box.I'm going to return for the chirashi bowl! Maybe I'll stay and eat at the Food Court!

Fish & Rice is located inside Palama Supermarket on Makaloa (near Kaheka DonQ). It'll be on the right side as you enter where their food court area is located. Several friends told me to check them out when they had their Aburi special but I didn't have time due to work and travel. When I finally could make it, I was only able to choose from their regular menu. It's ok because I'm definitely coming back. This place is clean and a nice hidden gem in Palama Supermarket. I ordered the Nigiri A for my guest with no wasabi and Nigiri B for myself. The cashier and entire staff was incredibly friendly and crafted my order in a timely manner. You can choose to dine in or take out. We opted for take out. A nice surprise was an anniversary promo they had for 20% off the bill! Even without the 20% off, the sets were really good for the price point! We thoroughly enjoyed it and I can't wait till they bring back their Aburi special. Legit sushi spot inside a Korean supermarket!

10/10 this is probably going to be my go to place for sushi!!!! It is so good A little hole in the wall in palama market, definitely worth coming to.That deluxe nigiri set is BOMB!!! It's not often you can find somewhere that has a set of uni, ikura, sweet shrimp, scallop, ahi, unagi, and kako !!! Everything was so good, fresh, soft, and melted in your mouth. The scallop & uni was probably my top favs, the scallop was so soft buttery and sweet. Uni is always a hit for me, and they gave two nice slabs in it. We also got the ume and natto hosomakis, and they did not disappoint! It was their second anniversary so it was 20% off all items! No complaints everything was amazing.

???? ??? ???? (?/?? ?)?????: (? ?) Overall we thought the food was very good. ??? ???? $?? was very good. You get a very generous portion of uni for the price. The taste of the uni was also very clean and sweet. It didn't have the fishiness or bitterness that you get at some places. ???????? ????? ?????? $?? was very good too. The seafood was fresh and quality was excellent. I opted for an extra Hotate instead of unagi and that was no problem. This also came with a spicy tuna roll that's pictured in the next photo. I thought the roll was ok. Needs an increase in spicy tuna to rice ratio. ??????? ?????? $? ??? & ????? ?????? ?????? $? ??? was yet again very good. Seafood was fresh and sweet. Props to them for frying up the shrimp heads for you too..???????? & ??????????: Not rated due to takeout. I do want to acknowledge the phone person for saving me $3. I was going to order a Spicy Tuna Roll $6 and the Deluxe Nigiri $25. She suggest the Assorted Sushi Deluxe $28 which is a combo of the two. The honesty is appreciated!.????????: Highly recommended. Fish and Rice has been our go to lately for takeout sushi. The quality for the price is hard to beat. A lot of people like Katsu Midori because of the quality to value. Fish and Rice blows them away in addition to other stand alone sushi restaurants we've been too. It's a little hidden gem in the Kaheka Palama Supermarket food court.
