Been buying Charsiu from Fong's for many year! Best tasting Charsiu! 3 generations of my family have patronize Fong's! 5 STARS ?

Hi Jambo

How does this place not have more reviews? It's awesome. Just walk up and order roast meats, the nice lady will chop it up, and send you on your way with a carton of warm love. ★★★★★★

Love getting the lechon or char siu here. Very delicious and juicy meats - not dry at all! It's a pretty popular local place, so there's usually a line on the weekends, but it's definitely worth the wait! The price is affordable and reasonable for the quality of the meat. Super Ono and fresh - always!

This is my go to spot for char siu. The meat is savory, succulent, perfectly caramelized and the burnt bits are my favorite part. Best char siu on the island hands down.

The great thing about Fong's is the helpful staff who are more than happy to offer a tasting of their Chinese Roast Pork. It's located right on King Street at the Oahu Open Market. It's so easy to locate, just limited parking. We're still on our search to replace Nam Fong which closed 9/24/23 for an alternative to this iconic meat market. Let's get to the tasting. The Chinese Roast Pork has a crispy skin that holds up hours later at room temperature. The meat is moist, but the flavor is not as deep as Nam Fong and there is no touch of anise in the flavoring. The Char Siu is good, but I've had better. Overall, I liked Fong's, especially the service. Regarding our taste tests, of the four places we've tried thus far (Alicia's Market, Asian Mix, Lee's Meat Market & Fong's Meat Market), Asian Mix continues to lead the pack in both Chinese Roast Pork and Char Siu flavoring.

Not worth $17 per lb. The quality of the char Siu, more like half the price. Heck maybe I'll just make it myself next time in the oven... a little disappointing. It's dry and tough, and the coloring is too bright red, not the red that I see in Hong Kong. I wasn't expecting it would taste exactly like HK char siu, but this is really far from it. I honestly think Costco spare ribs are juicier and more tender than what's offered here.

Char sui and roast pork . I like the flavor and texture of the char sui from here. The roast pork skin stays crispy even after a few hours. The meat on the roast pork is very tender and tasty.

Our go to lunch spot when we don't know what to eat for lunch! Quickly order and get roast port or charsiu. I also very much enjoy roast duck! Located in O'ahu market. Parking available on the same block, or street parking. Always nice to walk around and see the fresh fish and fruits available. I always end up picking up fresh poke and veggies at neighboring businesses.

Google maps had Fong's marked as "Temporarily Closed." This is not correct. We visited Fong's today and bought pounds of roast pork and char siu to bring to relatives on Kauai.

I don't know if Fong's has the best char siu and roast pork in Chinatown (I haven't visited all of the different vendors, so I can't judge). However, it is my go to place to pick up char siu. I like that it's not too fatty and has good flavor. But if I am being honest, the real reason I keep going back is because of how nice the older guy working there is. He gives you samples of pork to taste, will bluntly tell you when the fatty no dye roast pork is not good that day and to order something else, and he doesn't yell aggressively and impatiently at you like some other folks in that area do. I appreciate not being yelled at when I am buying stuff.

One of the better tasting charsiu in Chinatown. Owner is friendly and caring. He always gives free samples while you wait for him to chop up your order. They also have the biggest dry opae. We love it!

We walked by this store on our visit to Honolulu Chinatown, which generally speaking was cute but small. We got a pound of their roast pork and it was delicious. Just the right amount of fatty and meaty, I felt like our portion was generous The price was $16 for 1 pound and we were charged exactly $16. They offered tap to pay which was nice as a few stores were cash only in Chinatown. I walked down the street and 2 or 3 shops later they were selling roast pork for $13-14. I do not know if it was as tasty but I don't regret my purchase, the shop woman was very kind and generous with the portion of meat I got. I was def given more than a pound

I heard this is some of the best roast pork you can get. I thought it was good, but not the best I have eaten - although I admit I am not an expert on roast pork. I saw some guy on the ground putting his hands through some meat or something in a container with a lot of liquid that I will not mention - I initially got scared thinking he would serve me but fortunately a lady came hurrying in to take my order. She was awesome in the way only an experienced person could be - I asked for half a pound - that would be $8 for half pound. However I made the fatal mistake of starting to take a $10 out. She CHOPPED a chunk of meat off and started cutting and wouldn't you know it??? It was $10 worth of pork! "$10 OK"??? statement and my money was gone a few seconds later Yep, I may be Chinese but I am not experienced enough for this market.

Crispy pork is so delicious! Service is great! Portions are good! Will make that to my regular lunch break (once per week!)
