I had a good time eating at Gen Korean BBQ. Everything from the food to the service was good. To start I would say the meats were good but some were not of the highest quality. The selection of different meats were quite extensive which I thought was nice. I enjoyed the side dishes we order such as the cheese corn and cheese tonkatsu which was fresh and crispy. The service started off slow as our waiter was busy but gradually improved as some tables were finishing up. Considering the price of the lunch menu I was very impressed and would come back again.

Corey is exceptional! We had no idea what the restaurant entailed but Corey/Cory ? Sat with and explained everything. The food was delicious! Our favorite was the steak. Such a neat experience and everyone was friendly. A+

Food was delicious but service was so awful. Forgot to bring us multiple dishes multiple times. We asked for kimchi fried rice three times and never got it. When on a time limit with food service should be fast and efficient, at least not slow. This place was unbearable and they were cleaning up 90 min after we sat rushing us to leave (so we didn’t even get to enjoy the two hours).

Never eating at this restaurant again, food was good but service was mediocre and on top of that while we were eating I noticed a roach around our dinner table. My girlfriend and I told Our server and he went and grabbed the manager and they moved us to a different table but the manager didn’t really say anything, it seemed like he didn’t care and so we just got the bill and left , we definitely won’t be back after that terrible experience

Gen K-BBQ is a great option around the Waikiki area. The price can’t be beat. The food quality is decent, made better considering the price. The selection of items is good, even the regular non premium menu option. Some of the meat options were on the tough side, like the premium steak, pork belly and ox intestines. Our server Lauren was great. Initially she was really busy so it was a slow start but when she wasn’t as busy, she was quite attentive and friendly. I would recommend it and will be back.

Our waitress gave attitude at the bar. During meal, did not bring us children's waters for at least 10 minutes. When they did arrive, they were adult waters anyway. Why wait? Just bring all the waters at the start. We were overcharged for drinks we didn't get and no discount or free item for being over charged the $20. We received scissors with meat on it so asked for new ones, again receiving dirty scissors.

Besides service, the food was mid. The tofu soup tasted like tobasco soup. Overall unhappy with the entire situation.

Had the worse experience here on the 27th July 2025. We found hair in my rice. Our server was nowhere to be found. The girl that was bring the meat kept bringing us the wrong order even after I had told her but she came back and tried to put the blame on us. I’m absolutely disgusted and would NEVER recommend this place to anyone unless you want your food to come out 2hrs later. The cherry on the top of this terrible experience was the manger. I had called him over and he literally rolled his eyes and did a massive sigh. Like if you don’t want work in a customer service environment go find a job where you don’t need to talk to anyone. Anyone we asked for help from was absolutely useless. Honestly the worse experience.

If I could give a zero I would. The worst service EVER, kept having to wait for the servers for bring things and it took them 15 minutes long. They were getting agitated and mind you it was just normal sides. Literally the WORST service I have ever received. Don’t know how this gets a 4.1 and the manager was the roar of all, literally rolled his eyes at us. Like if you don’t know how to give good customer service why be in the industry? I’ve been in customer service and I know customers can be rude but to give attitude from the jump and for asking for stuff as simple as the sides? Ridiculous!

They have very tasty all you can eat Korean BBQ!

Awesome place !!! We were with a large family group and not one of us was disappointed ! In fact the entire wedding party went back the next day !!!

100/10 I absolutely recommend! First let me say that Corey the manager is a life saver! Our soccer team traveled to HI from CA to compete in the Aloha International Cup. We are a group of 60+ people. I had the hardest time finding a restaurant in Waikiki that would serve a party our size. I was even laughed at and told such a large party would be impossible in Waikiki especially on a Friday. Corey proved them wrong. He not only accommodated us, when we arrived all our tables were prepared, we started with the most popular 4 premium meats, we had the absolute BEST service! Thank you Corey, Joel, Randy & Willy for saving the day and making sure we were not only well taken care of but also made sure we got to experience the delicious variety Gen Korean BBQ has to offer. The location has plenty of parking, the atmosphere was amazing, restrooms were clean. If you are looking for a great place to eat with family/ friends, look no further.

Waiter never took my order. Waiter took everyone’s order except mine. I tired to order and got ignored. It was my first time there. I’m not ever going back or to any other location
