The food is great. I'd prefer they use the compostable containers instead of the plastic ones. Please consider using compostables. Save the island. Save the ocean. Save the turtles 🐢🌊

Ngl...the only time I visit Hamada General store is for the Hot Ginger Fried Chicken. I've had other things on the menu, but anytime they post on Ig this special...I call my connection to order and be first in line. Usually when this special is available, it sells out in the first 15 mins at opening. Mind you that they open at 9am...people order 9 at a time....its ridiculous.
Other the years, the ginger chicken has changed...cant quite figure it out, but its not as good as it was.

Ordered the special, the nori salmon. It was delicious and packed with flavor. I liked the mix of textures, and the added fukujinzuke was a nice touch.

Great elevated local plate lunches, very friendly service, lil pricey but you get what you pay for, a nice meal at a clean local spot 🤙

This place is a hidden gem!
Casual lunch spot with delicious grinds.
They mostly offer plate lunches and have four specialty sandwiches. They also had some daily specials.
I ordered the kimchi Ruben sandwich (a regular item on the menu) and oh my goodness was it incredible (I still think about it and it’s been two weeks since we ate here).
If I recall correctly, sandwiches come with a choice of side- mac salad all the way for me.
Highly recommend and we’ll definitely be back.
Free parking available in lot infront of building.
Short walk from Ward Center area.

I stumbled on this place randomly via Google Maps, wow wow wow! The location is a bit hidden, in the middle of a local district, nice and clean inside. The food is so so good, typical plate lunch offerings, they have regular dishes, sandwiches, as well as specials. I got the steak poke, and the bang bang salmon katsu, so delicious!!! The portion is very generous too. Would love to come back and try the other stuff. The store is frequented by a lot of locals and repeated customers, the staff is very sweet. Highly highly recommend you to step out of Waikiki to get here, experiencing the local aloha.

If I could only eat at one restaurant for the rest of my life, it would be Hamada General Store. I love the way their menu works because it’s always new and fresh. And on top of all that, the food is 10 out of 10. Absolute perfection!
One of the best lunch places in the state. Specials are always amazing. The seared ahi today was fantastic. The kimchi reuben is my go to non special item. Hits the spot every time.

Growing up, this was a local grocery store that my mother found deals on food for our large family. The grocery store is gone but the restaurant is fabulous.
Check them out on Instagram as well.
Didn't eat anything, but the menu looked good, maybe a little pricey (1 star deduction). Very friendly stuff!
Great place for lunch. Came all the way from Seattle for one of my favorite plate on the menu. Ribeye pok.

My mom says that she used to come to Hamadas when she was a little girl. Used to be a cheap place to buy dented cans at discount price. Today it's a restaurant. The food was on point. Small comfy environment. Food came out quick. I would go back.
Delicious! One of my favorite lunch spots. Daily specials are creative and amazing. Just wish I didn’t crave something I know I can’t get again the next day. I’ve never had something here I didn’t like. Recommend this spot to all my clients when they ask for food recommendations.
