Great pies! Love the filling to crust ratio on the mini pies. They have a lot of good tasting fillings too! Love the Hawaiian pear and banana cream so far :) Parking and getting there are a hassle. Small lot, construction in that Kapalama area. Wait time not too bad. And the staff is friendly, local place so hard to get to picky with the limitations. Hope they do well and move to a bigger place and make more pies per day!

We tried two of the mini pies to see if we liked them. We bought the pear peach pie and the pineapple whip pie, both of them were absolutely delicious. The buttery crusts were tender and beautifully flakey. The filling had perfect Hawaiian flavors. Sweet and tangy, not too sweet, just the right bite to the fruit. Perfect texture. We can't wait until the next time we are in town so we can pick up full sized pies. I am a third generation pie maker and I can tell you, if you haven't had these pies, you've got to try them.

Family owned/operated, the Hawaiian Pie Company (HPC) has had 4 generations working first-hand in offering delicious homemade pies/baked desserts since it opened in Kalihi on 12/16/14. Interesting company background: * 1st generation family patriarch, Yoshio Hori/wife Miyako, opened the popular Holy's Bakery in the 1930's in Kohala on the Big Island. Yoshio had intended the bakery to reflect his last name of Hori, but his Japanese accent was misunderstood as Holy's instead (Japanese language makes the "R" into an "L"). * 2nd generation Richard (aka Yasu & is Yoshio Hori's son) & wife Janet w/ son Joel Hori opened Holy's Bakery in Manoa in 1979. (Note that this Holy's Bakery in Manoa is not the same Holy's Bakery in Kohala on the Big Island. They were 2 separate bakeries using different recipes, & the Manoa bakery sold fruit pies/baked treats to supermarkets, convenience stores, hotels & restaurants. Holy's in Kohala continues to operate by Joel Hori's aunt.) Yasu & Janet retired, closed the Manoa bakery in 1994, & son Joel went to work for the federal government. * 3rd generation Joel & wife Jan Hori opened the HPC in Kalihi in Dec 2014 after Joel retired from the federal government. They revived his family's baking legacy on Oahu w/ the many stories & memories of their ancestors while understanding the importance of family. And Yasu could be seen at the bakery helping out his family w/ his passion for baking while continuing the family's legacy. In addition to its brick-and-mortar building, HPC tried to increase community awareness by participating in many pop-ups, farmers' markets, & special events. * 4th generation of Joel/Jan's kids, Lindsay, Matthew, & Drew Chun-Hori began their involvement with HPC, as they understood their family's passion for the business & the love & respect for their family. The kids specialize in certain aspects of the pie making, & each is responsible for the bakery operations: Lindsay does the crimping of the crust & is the Marketing/Communications Manager, Matthew does the crust & is the Retail Manager, & Drew does the pie fillings & is the Operations Manager. No doubt there will be an upcoming 5th generation. HPC specializes in melt-in-your-mouth buttery fruit pies baked daily as whole pies, mini personal sized pies, pie slices, & frozen whole pies that you can bake at home. The whole pies are pricey; however, they are full 9" deep dish pies w/ high quality fillings, weigh a whopping 3 lbs each that serve 8 to 12 people. The mini pies are 5" pies, serve 2 to 3 people & are perfect if you can't finish a whole 9" pie; however, for the two of us empty nesters, we didn't have that problem, as the pies are so good that we can easily finish the whole pies! Popular choices include Hawaiian Passion Pear (tart lilikoi w/ crunchy pears), caramel apple, & pear-peach. Pie filling flavors are very creative and are offered on a rotational basis, such as: blueberry peach; kalo krunch (taro/sweet potato blend); passion pear; banana foster; caramel apple; pineapple whip; POG; pumpkin custard; strawberries & cream; aloha medley (blend of peach, pineapple, strawberry, mango, lychee); chocolate chess; blue pineapple; etc. Several pies are given the honor for Yoshio: apple, coconut, peach, pear. Yasu also has the honor of creating baked specialty items: manju, bread pudding, turnovers, cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, rum cakes, blueberry cream cheese scones, tea cakes, kahlua cakes, etc. Selected flavors of whole frozen pies that you can bake at home can be found on Oahu at Safeway, Foodland/Foodland Farms & at CVS Longs during sales promotions. I've tasted the frozen apple pie purchased from CVS Longs & participated in the 2024 Mystery Pi Day promotion, which I got the apricot pie. It takes an hour if you bake your own at home; but I enjoyed the freshly baked apricot pie w/ its flaky, buttery double crus

Ono! Buttery flaky crusts with fresh fruits from the tree fillings. One of the best tasting pies that I've ever eaten! I'm definitely going to return for a lot more tasty pies in the near future!

Guilty pleasure. I have 3 pies sent to our home in San Francisco. Passion Pear is my favorite, Orange Dream is truly a dream and POG. Well worth the price of shipping, I always share and have never had any bad comments!Keep it up HPCo.

First visit to Oahu and the Hawaiian Pie Co was one of my first stops. I like to visit pie bakeries in every state I visit so I couldn't wait to make my way out to the islands, and I wasn't disappointed. Although I wanted to try the pineapple whip pie, and wasn't able to, I did very much enjoy the strawberry and pear mini pies. Staff were friendly and nice as well!

Love their strawberry guava and caramel apple pies. So Ono!!I’ve made it a tradition to pick up their pies as presents for my neighbors, friends and family as well as getting some for our own new year and Christmas parties. The team here had the frozen pies all ready to go and I had earned enough points for a treat for myself.Only humbug thing is that a lot of people like their pies so sometimes hard to find parking

The pies were so fresh and delicious, waiting for opening again after Thanksgiving! The service and ambiance is A+ If not a Pie lover you will be after one bite!

I really don't know how to feel about the owner. She has such horrible customer service to the point where it's offputting but the only saving grace is her food is good. If you're okay with a snobbish (per my coworker) tone and you really want a pot pie, then enjoy it. If not, go elsewhere.

My manager recommended this spot to me and I'm SO glad I took the time to visit this place. The shop is small and cozy, and the staff is so nice! I only picked up ONE mini Hawaiian Passion Pear pie because it was only supposed to be a snack. My husband and I basically inhaled the pie in like 3 minutes and I was really sad about it afterwards. IT WAS DELICIOUS. I honestly wish I could've brought an entire pie home back to the Bay Area! I hope to visit Oahu again someday so I can try more of their pies and speciality baked goods! (Their instagram posts about Oreo rolls and other types of bread have me drooling)

I followed Hawaiian Pie Company on Social Media for a couple years, never had been nor had their pies. I finally visited during my bday in Honolulu and was happy to have supported them - their Korean Garlic Bread, Passion Pear pie, and Pineapple Whip pie were all delicious! Please support and visit their store, another gem in Hawaii. Thanks so much!

Why settle for just one? If you're a big fan of trying samples of different flavors of sweet treats then look no further ! @hawaiianpieco is serving up not only your standard size pie, but also mini pies ! These mini pies are perfect if you want to try yourself to a pie, but don't want to commit to a whole one! Located in Kalihi, this little hole in the wall bakery is really serving up different flavors of pie that you really can't get anywhere else. When I went in , I really couldn't decide between what flavors I wanted , so I just got them all! The best part is that because their minis, the next time I have an event I will know which flavor I liked the best and can buy a full sized pie to bring. Out of all of the flavors I tried I would have to say the guava/ strawberry and cherry pies were my favorite, both were tart, and not too sweet with a really well balanced flakey buttery crust . You really gotta check these guys out !
