We tried two of the mini pies to see if we liked them. We bought the pear peach pie and the pineapple whip pie, both of them were absolutely delicious. The buttery crusts were tender and beautifully flakey. The filling had perfect Hawaiian flavors. Sweet and tangy, not too sweet, just the right bite to the fruit. Perfect texture. Family owned/operated, the Hawaiian Pie Company (HPC) has had 4 generations working first-hand in offering delicious homemade pies/baked desserts since it opened in Kalihi on 12/16/14. Interesting company background: * 1st generation family patriarch, Yoshio Hori/wife Miyako, opened the popular Holy's Bakery in the 1930's in Kohala on the Big Island. Great pies! Love the filling to crust ratio on the mini pies. They have a lot of good tasting fillings too! Love the Hawaiian pear and banana cream so far :) Parking and getting there are a hassle. Small lot, construction in that Kapalama area. Wait time not too bad. And the staff is friendly, local place so hard to get to picky with the limitations. Hope they do well and move to a bigger place and make more pies per day!
