This little Japanese lunch spot is amazing. They have a variety of different bentos, somewhat a blend of a sushi bowl, and musubis of all different flavors for you. Every item is made with so much care and I love that they have multigrain rice options. You can really taste the freshness of the ingredients when you bite into anything and everything that you get there.

My favorites are the butterfish, and the cheeseburger musubi (This is such a unique and amazing musubi! You must try it!)

Pro tip: A lot of their sushi bowls sell out very quickly and so you need to get there early to snag one.
Also, they only have two small 2 seater tables outside the restaurant so it's probably best that you take your food somewhere else to eat it.

Fast and quick. Bentos are reasonably priced and filling...definitely a place to pick up prepared meals.

Good selection of bentos and musubis with option of white or multi grain rice.

Located next to the new restaurant Rice burger and cafe, outside has one table and three chairs. Inside is setup as a grab & go.

Great food and pretty authentic Japanese food but big portions for Hawaii! Their mentaiko onigiri is highly recommended!

Amazing food! But the store is pretty small, so they only allow 3 people inside at once. So mostly, you will need to wait outside.

Cute musubi and bento spot. With a great variety of musubis in interesting flavors like tuna mayo apple cucumber and their special musubi for the day was chicken tsukune.

Will be back to try their desserts too!

The bentos are amazing! One of the best miso butterfish / miso salmon bentos I've had. The ikura sushi cup is also great. I love the multi grain rice option.

I looked at Google Maps and went shopping for the first time at 11:50am on Saturday. A sudden day off. I was shocked to find out about it for the first time since it wasn't listed on the website or Google Maps! It seems that it will be closed until September 17, 2024.

Before coming I really wanted to like this place based on reviews, demand and aesthetics, but alas what we had just wasn't good.
We had the hamburger steak and the yakitori bentos. Hamburger steak had a teriyaki-like flavor and yet they provided ponzu-oroshi (why?). The patty itself was very firm almost hard, and I struggled to cut it with my chopsticks. The yakitori wasn't even really yakitori, unless a literal translation is being utilized. The cost performance is terrible imho.

If I recall correctly each bento was around $16. It just wasn't tasty. I now understand why everyone lined up was local and not Japanese.

All this aside, the food presentation and the shop were aesthetically sound. Sorry, but this basically means that they fooled us. Never judge a book by it's cover is an apropos cliche as far as our experience was concerned.

If one is going to pay this much for a Japanese lunch or bento, there are just so many other better options.

I don't think that they really need to do anything as they already have a formula that seemingly keeps them in biz, and a following. This review is merely my observations and for the more discerning Japanese bento/lunch connoisseurs thinking of trying Higoto.

Thanks for reading.

Very good portions for good price.
Compare to other Japanese bento shop, it's worth coming here.
I like to buy extra ikura for $4 , even with that, it's under $20
They were out of white rice with fish bento, they were kind enough to make 2 for me in a short time. Thank you!
They do limit only 3 people in store, so sometimes line is longer outside, but line moves quickly. And you can make phone order.

Weekend trip to Oahu stumbled on this placeon a beer run to Times supermarket. Price point good. Quality and presentation at the Japanese level! Especially loved the to-go size ikura that can be added to any poke bowl or bento. A pickup only eatery.

Parking: Park in front Times supermarket.

After my trip to Japan I thought to come here to continue to enjoy authentic Japanese food. I love their sushi cups, especially the ikura and crab.

The food is top notch but the hours are completely wierd for such a popular store. What kind of popular joint closes at 4pm with only 5 hour days and also closes on Mondays and Tuesdays?

I’ve been here several times and I try to get something different on each visit, everything is fresh and flavorful. I feel like I’m in Japan while inside the tiny but well stocked shop. If you have a sweet tooth, make sure to try their cream puffs.
