Great place for excellent sushi, sashimi, and Japanese food. Everything in the pictures was extremely amazing. They even have Asahi on draft. I would highly suggest this place if you like Japanese food. The only complaint I may have is the sound travels very easy, and the people are very loud. But if you’re having an Asahi, who cares.

Nonbei is one of our favorites but the acoustics are terrible - prior to renovation the sound wasn't so bad. Also what's with 30% as the high end of tipping? The service is good but doesn't rise to the level of a 30% tip! We are not demanding diners and make things simple for the server - 20% for our little over an hour stay should be fine.

Every dish from the eggplant to miso butterfish was superior to similar dishes across town. The upstairs space is great for a big party. The timing of dishes rolling out was perfect for a long dinner conversation.

Small and charming and just a bit noisy but that is part of the deal and expected. Casual and fun with food that is delicious. High quality sashimi at a fairly high price but worth it compared to prices across town. Butterfish top notch. Wafu steak also great if you really enjoy garlic. Prompt service. Tight parking be cautious.

We were not notified that that the kitchen was soon closing and wanted to make a last order of sushi and was told there is no rice left to make one. In all my years of going to sushi restaurants and the 25 times I have visited Japan, this is the first time a sushi restaurant did not have rice even for two or three pieces of sushi.

A hidden gem off Kapahulu. Amazing food, drinks, and service! Had their signature Nasu Kinoko eggplant/mushroom dish and it was wonderful. Crab, avocado and bacon salad was a favorite too. Salmon sashimi was high grade — fresh with no stringy tendons and it melted in your mouth. Miso butterfish and Tori Kara were also delicious and tender. Will definitely come back here again!

Fantastic experienced. The food was great, the service was great when considering there's a labor shortage. Everyone was kind and the overall experience was just like an izakaya should be ?

waikiiからちょっと離れていますが、又きたくなる お店でした。値段も比較的リーズナブルです。 味は日本の居酒屋の中でも中の上と思います。

I feel bad leaving this review but it is the honest truth. Very disappointed with our dining experience. They were out of so many things that it really ruined the the dinner. No edamame? No scallops no this no that. The excuse was “we were really busy this weekend”. Should have gone elsewhere. Definitely not recommended.

We had an excellent family meal at Nonbei, sharing many sushi and cooked items. The server was very attentive and friendly and we felt that it was a very good value for the price as well.

All items we ordered were great, top service too. Amazing dinner.

Nice food but not very friendly servers. If you are looking for some nice home made Japanese food, then this is where you can go but do not expect too much about the servers' hospitality.

Extraordinaire restaurant avec une carte intéressante et des mets délicieux! Le personnel est attentif et très professionnel. L'ambiance est très agréable! Nous reviendrons avec plaisir! Nous recommandons chaleureusement cet excellent restaurant!

Not the best izakaya I've been to but an okay place overall. Nothing too good, nothing too bad. A little overpriced.
