So glad I finally got to try Mama T's Ital Kitchen! I went to the new location @umeke market in Honolulu! I actually extended my trip just so I could try the delicious menu on the Grand Opening Day, I stopped by on the way to the airport! Everything was so Ono. I shared a couple plates (don't judge, i don't get this all the time ;p): The 'Aina Stew, Crispy burrito, kalo cinnamon buns, & hibiscus cooler. Everything was so delicious! It was mixed emotions, being so happy for each forkful but also sad because it was that much closer to the end of the meal. The 'Aina stew was creamy & very filling, with big chunks to kalo cooked to perfection. The crispy burrito was served with a side salad and the most delightful mac nut sour cream. The kalo buns traveled really well, as I ate them for breakfast the next morning (sharing them with my beloved, who was so excited I brought him a piece of some Ital eats!). The hibiscus cooler was perfectly refreshing with a twist of mint, not too sweet, not too watery, it was balanced to perfection.
I really appreciate the extra mile that Mama T goes to source & serve up delectable local (when possible) organic ingredients & featuring so many Hawaiian staple foods! Even my friend who was not vegetarian/vegan said it was the best food he had his entire trip on Oahu! The portions are perfect & priced very fair. Absolutely no complaints here! ~
