Currents Downtown Reviews
The sushi was fresh! I ordered myself and hardly interacted with anyone. It is a calm place to go for a quick bite with a friend. Definitely take out style.
Excellent sushi, to rival Seattle and Japan. Price is on par with global prices, yes there are cheaper options, but they were open on Friday after 3pm AND the quality is OUTSTANDING. Probably some of the best flavors my wife and I have had (We get sushi every where). The eel, smoked tobiko and the spicy ahi were THE BEST we have had. Compliments to the chef!
This neighborhood needs more places like this.
My go to place for a sushi lunch downtown. Very fresh sushi, generously sized.

Located inside the Central Pacific Bank Plaza, Currents Downtown is a quality sushi spot hidden in a casual setting. The quality and taste are not casual, with excellent sushi that rivals Seattle and Japan. The eel, smoked tobiko, and spicy ahi were the best, with melt-in-your-mouth fish and sticky rice. The red tuna was good, along with the ika (squid), negitoro (minced tuna), fatty white fish, hamachi, crab meat, salmon, and shrimp. The carpaccio with truffle ponzu was excellent, and the nigiri bento was beautiful to look at and delectable to eat. Everything tasted great, with fresh and delicious flavors. Prices are not cheap but not ridiculous, with a $24 chirashi bento and other affordable options. The rice was yummy with good seasoning and al dente texture. Order at the Aloha Beer counter, and there is plenty of indoor and nice outdoor seating. The card machine takes tap payment. This place is perfect for those who do not care about a dining experience. It is also a great catering option, with a $36 Hosomaki platter that was a party hit, featuring takuan, ahi, and salmon hosomaki. Worth a detour if downtown.
