“4.7/5 — nearly perfect. Sushi Sho was one of the best and most focused sushi experiences I’ve had. The meal is prepaid through Tock, with gratuity included, so once you sit down the experience is entirely about the omakase.

Don’t expect caviar, truffles, or unnecessary luxury ingredients added to justify the price. Sushi Sho is about technique, precision, and thoughtful combinations of both local Hawaiian and Japanese ingredients. The rice, temperature, seasoning, texture, and progression of each piece were incredibly deliberate. It feels like a pure sushi experience rather than a luxury tasting menu disguised as omakase.

Keiji Nakazawa wasn’t behind the counter during our visit, but that didn’t detract from the experience. The sushi masters were extremely attentive and detail-oriented, with warm, personal service throughout.

We spent about $490 per person all-in, including sake, beer, and one additional piece. Expensive, absolutely, but the value is in the craftsmanship and execution rather than flashy ingredients. 4.7/5 and about as close to perfect as a sushi experience gets for me.“

“We celebrated my wife’s birthday at this place with $125 menu. Most of the food was good. We love the Hokkaido scallop and Toro(?) with a touch of Yuzu Kosho (in picture). “The food was absolutely phenomenal. We have tried a variety of sushi places including several omakase experiences. This place is a fantastic for sushi. I mean truly in a league of its own. The other touches like the authenticity, the ambience, and the service were also great. The chef was quite friendly and the staff was great. They do have an added, automatic gratuity of 20% but it is well earned and deserved. It may be better framed as a service fee or baked into the price, but that would be my only mention to set expectations. Other than that, every single option we chose on the menu (as a party of 2 we ordered 9 different items and each was a delight) not only reads well but is delicious! Their house made soy sauce served with a brush-tool as well as the wasabi in rice was a first time, unique culinary experience for us, and it was nothing short of phenomenal. Both really help bring out flavorful bites!“

“A friend of mine highly recommended this place. I passed by a few times and there was always a line. So I decided to go on a week night right at 5pm when they open instead of waiting in line.

The plan worked! No wait. We could choose to sit inside or outside. Since the staff were still getting ready for the evening shift I got to see details like the sushi chef carefully putting hachimaki on his head. Everything was done with care and intention.

The wait staff were wonderful. Food arrived quickly. They were so delicious, we ate everything!

What touched me most was that when we first placed the order, I wanted a hot tea, not ice water. The waiter apologized and said they were unfortunately out of tea. I later forgot about it.

In the middle of eating our food, this lady came, seemingly out of nowhere, and presented me with a cup of hot green tea. It was perfect! I could taste the love. I felt so touched they remembered! And took the time and effort to make it for me.

For food, we had the sizzling beef sukiyaki, Tonkotsu ramen, salmon avocado 🥑 roll. Everything tasted fresh and authentic. The portion felt just right, we ate everything, felt content.

The staff were so wonderful, serving us, and I loved the welcome and send off greetings. The whole experience reminded me of being back in Japan.

You can tell by the first plate you're presented as starters. Tiny place, so plan on getting to greet and chat with others. The food was delicious, with very high-quality, fresh fish and seafood — we were very happy with everything we had. There is also a great selection of sake and wines.

One small suggestion for improvement: given the intimate setting, it would be nice to be greeted by the chef personally at the beginning. Other than that, it was a great experience that we would gladly repeat!

“Currents Sushi & Sake is a standout spot for fresh, well-executed sushi in a clean, modern space with great vibes.
The unagi avocado bowl was excellent—glazed eel with a nice char, perfectly ripe avocado slices, sesame seeds, and a generous pile of green onion over seasoned rice, plus a solid hit of wasabi. The rolls delivered too: the spicy tuna-style pieces with green onion and tobiko had bright, clean flavors, and the salmon roll topped with crispy bits and sauce had great texture contrast. The fried bites (served with lemon and dipping sauce) were crispy and satisfying as a side.
Service was smooth, the dining area feels open and comfortable with nice lighting and ocean-themed details, and the overall experience was relaxed and enjoyable. “This is an adorable little sushi bar tucked in a shopping center. The owner was super helpful and showed me all the plant based options on the menu. I got a veggie roll and seaweed salad. Food was prepared very fast and packaged with care. I will definitely order a second roll next time, since the sushi roll was a bit small for making a meal out of it. I ended up adding some extra veggies, soybeans, and sauce at our hotel to make It a more filling dinner. But everything was really delicious. I forget what the salty umami fruit was in the veggie roll but it really emulated the texture of fish without being fish. Well done!
