“Great family owned place with I love to support small family businesses. The tuna was fresh as well as good cuts. Eel was super delicious 😋! I would recommend this place to anyone here or visiting. I should have taken pictures but the sushi was to good for me to slow down. Parking is very easy at this location. Staff was very friendly and they give their own suggestions on what dishes to try.“

“One of the best culinary experiences I’ve had in such a long time. The tasting dish was so full of life and made with such care. Everything was delicious.
Even though we were 20 mins late to our resy, chef Aung was so gracious and welcomed us anyways. The vibes, the music, and the fact that we all were just hanging out made the experience something unforgettable.“

“Only go here if you’re interested in kind of a fancy experience. The lunch experience is about $100 per person. Expect an automatic 20% tip to be added in your bill before you receive it.
Consider this place as your appetizer, but not your full course meal. If you’re really hungry, this restaurant is not for you. It’ll burn a hole in your wallet.
All that being said, they serve fish that I’ve never found in a traditional sushi bar. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the unique flavors that I don’t usually get when I visit Tokyo. The waitress actually explains everything you’re eating. Definitely make reservations, as this is a very small boutique sushi bar with one large table and about half a dozen counter spaces.“

“Hihimanu Sushi is hands down one of the most unique and memorable dining experiences on Oahu. Chef Ray’s omakase is absolutely incredible — every course feels like a work of art. The fish is unbelievably fresh, and you can truly taste the quality in every bite.
What makes this place so special is that Chef Ray’s menu changes based on the freshest ingredients available and the season, which makes every visit a completely new experience. His creativity and attention to detail really shine through in each dish.
If you appreciate true omakase and want to experience sushi at the highest level, Hihimanu Sushi is a must. The atmosphere is intimate, the quality is outstanding, and Chef Ray’s passion for his craft is evident in every creation.“

“Delicious, inventive, fun, intimate and so enjoyable. We did the 150 omakase. We were really full at the end. No bad dishes at all and some really were delicious. Yes it was a little difficult to find the restaurant after parking and no we didn't see any flying bugs that a few other guests mentioned. We had an amazing time.“

“We always enjoy coming here with the family. The atmosphere is comfortable and welcoming, making it an easy place to relax and enjoy a meal together. It’s also kid-friendly—especially if your kids already enjoy Japanese food—though it’s worth noting there isn’t a dedicated kids menu. Overall, it’s a spot we keep coming back to and consistently have a great experience.“

“The best Seafood Tempura in Hawaii! Scallops, calamari, shrimp, crab, ahi & assorted veggies. Light, crispy and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!!! Ask for lemon & salt for all the seafood, if you want to take it to a higher level. I learned this from a tempura bar in Japan.“

“Not far by car from Waikiki! I think this is the only place where you can get takeout and great taste at a reasonable price! I was surprised at how friendly the Korean owner was! When you eat it, you’ll be surprised twice by how delicious it is! If I get the chance, I want to come to Hawaii and eat there again! :)“

“The perfect little spot. I stopped in after a recommendation, and am so glad I did. The lovely lady running the place was so kind and helpful with what I should order, and made sure I enjoyed it, too. I got the Poke Bowl and loved every bite. There are two small tables right outside, or you can take your food to go. They're also open early, which was perfect for my jetlagged brain. Highly recommend!“

“My family stopped by when we visited Diamond Head and cafes near this restaurant to grab some light lunch. The food even from the cold self was so fresh and the texture of rice was perfect! Quality of sushi depends on rice mix, seaweed paper, and freshness of fish.
This store has all for sushi!! We really loved them! Stop by and grab some.👍🏻I only have one picture because I didn’t expect they were that much delicious to put on my review.
I recommend this store☺️“

“We were looking for a hip, modern sushi spot that would be a little different from the usual Japanese restaurant—and Kanoa Sushi Grill & Bar absolutely delivered! We brought our auntie here to celebrate her 90th birthday, and we wanted somewhere fun, fresh, and memorable. This place was perfect. The atmosphere was lively and unique, the food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Everyone made us feel welcome and helped make the celebration really special. “Amazingly cozy local spot with tons of charm and an amazingly executed menu. The staff were all incredibly friendly and accommodating, and while the space was on the smaller side, that just added to the atmosphere camaraderie. Come here if you want quality sushi done traditionally and a place where everyone feels like friends and family.“

“Fantastic sushi spot in Ward area. Right across from Merrimans and Whole Foods. I enjoyed the twister and avenger rolls, a few pieces of nigiri, and the fried pork gyoza.
A few notes on the food. I prefer pan fried gyoza to the deep fried version offered here, but it was still good. For the avenger roll, I’d recommend getting the sauce on the side. It tastes good, but I personally didn’t want so much. They also unexpectedly put some mayo on the hamachi nigiri pieces. I would have preferred it plain.
Service was friendly and the space was really nice. Price was reasonable. Great date spot. I will definitely be back.“

“It was a genuine privilege to watch a master at his craft. The food was fresh and delicious, uniquely prepared in front of you. The restaurant is a discrete and intimate experience with only 10 seats (6 at the counter to watch the chef).
We had the 21 piece option and it is truly worth it.“
“Everything was fresh and high quality. It's a topnotch Sushi Omakase restaurant on this island with excellent hospitality. Sushi chef Tsukasa san is cool and easy/fun to talk. This is the only Omakase place with a view (city view) and it's open air. You will have a great time at this speakeasy spot. The bonus is that you can enjoy Sky Waikiki for drinks before and take that drink to Hide Sushi. I highly recommend!“

“Among all the Japanese restaurants we tried during our Hawaii trip, this was by far the best in terms of value for money. The seasoning was spot on, the sashimi was fresh, and it’s definitely a place I’d love to visit again. We sat on the outdoor terrace with a beautiful view, and the service was warm and friendly. Highly recommend!“

“Omakase is special here. Everything had an extra element of nuanced flavor and treatment that is uncommon if not rare to find in most other sushi restaurants. You can tell by the first plate you're presented as starters. Tiny place, so plan on getting to greet and chat with others. But the dinner I attended here we ran into only cute families with cute kids.“

“They absolutely nailed everything we ordered. The ahi poke bowl, rainbow roll, tempura udon, and negi hamachi hand roll were all considerably better than what I’m used to having, and I eat at Japanese restaurants quite a bit. In fact, the ahi poke was easily the best I have ever had.“

“I wonder why they serve human food but have the name “fish food”? hm, the world may never know. anywho, i had the spicy ahi bowl (?) that came with rice, some fish, and 2 pieces of gyoza with sauce. the fish was good and had the spiciness of a 3.5 on the caucasian scale of spicy; has a little kick but won’t make you cry out for jésus or anything. the convenience of having poke on base was amazing but the portion size was not! $15 or so for a small bento sized meal is a little pricey as poke bowls at foodland are about $5 cheaper and they give you more fish and rice as well. For the size of fish food hawaiis spicy ahi, i have attached a pic to show the size with an ice breakers ice cube gum for a scale (didn’t have banana for scale)“

“OMG what a sleeper foodie find! I was looking for a quick lunch place in the shopping center and thought I’d just grab a quick bento to go from this place… no way, once inside there’s so much more than sushi!
I perused the large sushi menu for a while before finally deciding on an already made bento of salmon collar. They offered a side of rice to go with it but I decided to go with cucumber sushi instead. I couldn’t help but look in their pastry fridge and immediately decided I had to have dessert - a super cute pair of lemon and strawberry tarts.
They also make boba tea to order, and offer a variety of desserts, from mango panna cotta to bagged cookies - feed that sweet tooth while you grab lunch or dinner!
So excited to find this place - you could bring a small or large group here, there’s great seating inside the restaurant.
Highly recommend this place if you’re deciding where to eat at this center!“

“Located inside the Central Pacific Bank Plaza at the back corner where it says Aloha Beer (but it's bento actually).
Quality sushi! It's in a casual setting, but the quality and taste are not casual. There were many things I wanna try but finally decided on doing the chirashi bento.
Delicious and fatty fish! One thing you can tell if this place has good fish or not is by trying their red tuna. Quality places would give you a nice cut that's bright red with subtle mild fish flavor. Budget places will give you tuna that has a lot of ligaments and almost no fish flavor. Their red tuna was good, along with the ika (squid), negitoro (minced tuna), some fatty white fish, hamachi, crab meat (with light mayo), salmon and shrimp (although I wish it was amaebi instead). Their rice was also yummy with good seasoning and al dente texture.
Prices were not cheap but not ridiculous. I paid $24 for my bento, wish there's just a little more seafood. They have other options that are more affordable.
I went during week after 12:30pm and there was no line. I just walked up to the kiosk to browse what they had and placed my order. The card machine on the left of the screen also takes tap payment. There's also plenty of indoor and nice outdoor seating.
Would definitely go back if I want some sushi for lunch!“

“If you’re a true sushi lover, this place is an absolute must. From the moment you step inside, you’re greeted with warm hospitality that instantly feels like you’ve been welcomed into a traditional Japanese sushi-ya. The staff not only provide impeccable service — attentive, gracious, and prompt — but they also speak Japanese, adding an extra layer of authenticity that’s increasingly rare to find outside of Japan.
But let’s talk about the real star here: the sushi. The hand rolls are, without exaggeration, the best. The fish is impossibly fresh, the rice is seasoned to perfection, and the balance of flavors is masterful. Every bite is crafted with such care and precision that you can tell the chefs are true artisans of their craft.
What’s the catch? They close early — like, 3 PM early. And that’s honestly the only downside. It’s a bit of a heartbreak knowing something this incredible isn’t available for dinner. But if you can plan your day around it, you’ll be rewarded with a sushi experience that’s unforgettable.“

“First time here. Bought 2 platters for a birthday party. My phoned-in pickup at the time requested. Parking was easy having a shared lot. I ordered The Big Island and Aloha platters plus separately 6 Spicy Ahi nigiri and 6 salmon sushi. The spicy ahi was unanimously the favorite. Everyone said it was their favorite. All the food was almost totally wiped out. Reasonably priced. Fresh.“

“Found this small restaurant as I walked around the area. Prices have increased from the menu I saw posted on here. Most are three dollars higher. There is a small seating area and I suppose you can eat there but this seems more like an order and go type of place. Food is decent. I found the portions to be spot on. I couldn’t finish my bento box and I took a bite of the poke bowl my wife ordered. Both were good. Fresh stuff. I’d recommend for sure.“
