“Omakase was very good! There was a variety of sushi pieces and presentation was simple but carefully created! Atmosphere was quaint but roomy enough to the person sitting next to you. Domo Arigato Chef!!“
“Great family owned place with I love to support small family businesses. The tuna was fresh as well as good cuts. Eel was super delicious 😋! I would recommend this place to anyone here or visiting. I should have taken pictures but the sushi was to good for me to slow down. Parking is very easy at this location. Staff was very friendly and they give their own suggestions on what dishes to try.“

“Really cute omakase restaurant hidden and tucked away in the back corner. There were like 10 seats and 3 staff members, whom were all super friendly. We had the $100 omakase set and it came with all the premium goodies! Super happy with how fast the food comes out, the freshness and quality, and how delicious each piece tasted. Definitely going to be my go to omakase spot now.“

“Only go here if you’re interested in kind of a fancy experience. The lunch experience is about $100 per person. Expect an automatic 20% tip to be added in your bill before you receive it.
Consider this place as your appetizer, but not your full course meal. If you’re really hungry, this restaurant is not for you. It’ll burn a hole in your wallet.
All that being said, they serve fish that I’ve never found in a traditional sushi bar. I was pleasantly surprised by some of the unique flavors that I don’t usually get when I visit Tokyo. The waitress actually explains everything you’re eating. Definitely make reservations, as this is a very small boutique sushi bar with one large table and about half a dozen counter spaces.“

“We had the pleasure of dining at Hihimanu last night, and it was easily the highlight of my time on the island.
Chef Ray makes the best sushi I’ve ever eaten look almost effortless. Of course, nothing about it is effortless. That kind of ease only comes after years of discipline and doing the work when nobody is watching. You are eating in the house of someone who has truly mastered his craft.
The omakase is thoughtful from beginning to end. Nothing feels random or thrown in for effect. Every cut, garnish, plate, and progression has a reason behind it. The courses unfold like chapters in a story, each one there not just to impress you, but to teach you something about the cuisine.
Then there is Chef Ray himself. Sit at his bar and you may hear how he worked his way up from the dish pit, developing his passion and an almost unreasonable commitment to finding the best possible ingredients. He tracks down exceptional ingredients from remote corners of the world—fish you have probably never heard of, sourced from places where they can scarcely be found anywhere else. It is always flown in fresh and served the same day it was in the market in Japan. In many cases, he even makes or prepares the accompanying ingredients himself, because a master does not cut corners when telling the best story.
It is extremely rare to encounter that level of precision without ego. Usually, it comes with excessive performance. Rarer still is leaving an omakase genuinely stuffed.
At Hihimanu, there is more than enough food, but the real generosity goes far beyond portion size. Your reservation comes with conversation, warmth, and a genuine desire to serve you the very best. By the end of the evening, you don’t feel like a customer who has completed a tasting menu. You feel like someone who was welcomed into a home, fed properly, and sent on your way like family.
A truly unforgettable meal.“

“Had lunch here after hanging out at Waikiki Beach. Super easy walk right across the street. Amazing atmosphere with a great view of the beach. The inside is cozy. Not best situated for large groups. Place was clean with great AC. I got the mini udon soup and the spicy tuna roll. Zero complaints. The server and chefs were amazing. Would definitely come back.“

“If you are looking for top-tier, fresh fish without the formal sit-down price tag, this low-key takeout spot is an absolute must-visit. They have a casual setup with great outdoor seating, making it the perfect spot to grab a quick, delicious lunch or dinner and enjoy it outside.
The quality of the fish completely punches above its weight class. A massive highlight is their Hamachi—it is explicitly imported from Japan, and you can absolutely taste the difference. It's incredibly fresh, buttery, and rich.
Best of all, it is significantly cheaper than standard sit-down sushi restaurants in the area without sacrificing an ounce of quality. Excellent value, amazing fish, and a relaxed vibe.“

“Not far by car from Waikiki! I think this is the only place where you can get takeout and great taste at a reasonable price! I was surprised at how friendly the Korean owner was! When you eat it, you’ll be surprised twice by how delicious it is! If I get the chance, I want to come to Hawaii and eat there again! :)“

“This is an adorable little sushi bar tucked in a shopping center. The owner was super helpful and showed me all the plant based options on the menu. I got a veggie roll and seaweed salad. Food was prepared very fast and packaged with care. I will definitely order a second roll next time, since the sushi roll was a bit small for making a meal out of it. I ended up adding some extra veggies, soybeans, and sauce at our hotel to make It a more filling dinner. But everything was really delicious. I forget what the salty umami fruit was in the veggie roll but it really emulated the texture of fish without being fish. Well done! Overall, fantastic and affordable vegan sushi with a small family-owned vibe! I will be back!“

The atmosphere was lively and unique, the food was outstanding, and the service was top-notch from start to finish. Everyone made us feel welcome and helped make the celebration really special. We had such a wonderful time and will definitely be coming back!“

I h a d something g I never have before.. red snapper but with a special spicy wasbi... but I dont think he said it waa wasabi but it was straight from Japan... anyway. Again, another off the strip place where you are not paying an arm and a leg for FANTASTIC sushi. Fresh friendly, fast (i was ther early) inhear it c an get packed. I recommend you try it first... then try the ones on the strip for 3 times the price... if youre ok paying for bougie and a bougie experience, i get it... and thats cool, me too, but NOT all the time

“The best Seafood Tempura in Hawaii! Scallops, calamari, shrimp, crab, ahi & assorted veggies. Light, crispy and cooked to perfection. Highly recommended!!! Ask for lemon & salt for all the seafood, if you want to take it to a higher level. I learned this from a tempura bar in Japan.“

“Lunch Set was nice and a good price, $30. Tempura, 3pcs sushi and a choice of miso soup or $3+ for udon. We chose to have it with udon. “Omakase is special here. Everything had an extra element of nuanced flavor and treatment that is uncommon if not rare to find in most other sushi restaurants. You can tell by the first plate you're presented as starters. Tiny place, so plan on getting to greet and chat with others. But the dinner I attended here we ran into only cute families with cute kids.“

“OMG what a sleeper foodie find! I was looking for a quick lunch place in the shopping center and thought I’d just grab a quick bento to go from this place… no way, once inside there’s so much more than sushi!
I perused the large sushi menu for a while before finally deciding on an already made bento of salmon collar. They offered a side of rice to go with it but I decided to go with cucumber sushi instead. I couldn’t help but look in their pastry fridge and immediately decided I had to have dessert - a super cute pair of lemon and strawberry tarts.
They also make boba tea to order, and offer a variety of desserts, from mango panna cotta to bagged cookies - feed that sweet tooth while you grab lunch or dinner!
So excited to find this place - you could bring a small or large group here, there’s great seating inside the restaurant.
Highly recommend this place if you’re deciding where to eat at this center!“
