“I am a Miami to Alaska transplant and seek out great Cuban food and cafe’ whenever I travel. Castro’s is the real deal!! The Cuban Cafe’ is spot on and the French Toast with the Rum Sauce is off the charts!! Enough food to feed two! The owner is friendly & engaging as is the staff. Stop in, grab a Cafe’ and chill on the sidewalk seating while your breakfast is created..I say created because it is a true work of art…at least in my professional opinion.“

“We sampled several menu items. We started with the Potstickers which we ordered steamed instead of deep fried. Very good appetizer. Don’t miss out on the Banana Flower Salad, very unique and delicious! We also shared a Banh Mi sandwich, tasty but our least favorite item. And also shared the Gochujang Ramen, it looked and smelled so good we forgot to take a pic until it was half eaten. The very-friendly staff warned us that it would be very spicy “a 7 or 8” but we found it to be more of a 4-5 and absolutely delicious! The Salad and Ramen were tied for our favorite. Definitely a place we will return to. And the Thai Tea was good. We took home half the sandwich, salad and soup. All for less than $60! Incredible value. Updated from previous review on 2026-09-27“

“Would have came here for the third time within 5 days if I could! I tried the basil pesto, arugula and shrimp burger. I'd rate them as follows: 9/10, 8.5/10 and 11/10. The basil pesto burger can get soggy if not eaten right away and the arugula burger could have used more balsamic and arugula flavor profile. However, the shrimp burger with wasabi aioli was perfect. It's genuinely the best seafood burger I have ever tried.

Disclaimer: the patties are thick and they are more of an gourmet burger spot, so you will have to wait some time for them to prepare you food. Otherwise, I wish they open a spot in LA at some point!“

“The best old skool saimin joint on the planet...the broth just brings back alot of memories of enjoying saimin with your parents and grandparents...its just so rich in flavor and the noodles are second to none...then its time to sink your teeth in the smoky flava of their bbq stick,omg doesn't get any better..my go to is the wonton min and bbq sticks, if you haven't already visited this place, do yourselves a favor and check them out soon.. 🤙🤙🤙“

“My husband was in search of some good fish in Waikiki. We stumbled upon this place and decided to give it a try. I’m not a seafood person so I got the chicken pasta and he tried snapper for the first time. Both of us were blown away by how tasty everything was. The portions were huge too! Out of all the places we had been to during our trip, this place is at the top. Even as a non fish eater, I loved it! There can be a wait, but it is well worth it. Try it, you’ll love it.“

“Lunch Set was nice and a good price, $30. Tempura, 3pcs sushi and a choice of miso soup or $3+ for udon. We chose to have it with udon. Everything was tasty, from the quality of the sushi and the tempura. I have no complaints, some of the items are a little pricey but its worth it for the quality.“

“We celebrated a big anniversary at Pai and WOW - they made it extra special. We did the four course menu with wine pairings. The service was top notch. The food was inspired, creative, delicious, and locally sourced. Though the portions of each dish looked small, it was more than enough food and so delicious you wanted to eat every bite! The wine pairings were spot on, absolutely perfect with our chosen courses. The space has such a lovely vibe - clean and modern, but comfortable and well appointed. There really isn't another dining experience quite like this on the island. Justine and Kevin have created such a beautiful place with incredible food and service. Pai is definitely a must-try restaurant. We will definitely be back.“

“Hidden gem near Sand Island and exactly the kind of place we never would have found without a little extra time before our flight. The second you walk in, you know it’s where the locals eat. No tables? Didn’t matter one bit. This was probably the best food we had all week in Hawaii.

The loco moco was hands down the best of our trip and somehow also the best price we saw anywhere. The beef patties were clearly homemade and absolutely delicious, the eggs were cooked perfectly, and the fried rice was unbelievably good. Gravy- fire.

Was it a little grungy looking inside? Sure. But the kitchen looked clean, the food came out hot and fresh, and honestly that just made us trust that it was going to be amazing. The kind of spot you remember long after the fancy tourist restaurants fade together.

If you care more about incredible local food than trendy decor, don’t skip this place.“

“Oh my god it was amazing. I had the grilled cheese with bacon (Aloha Melt) and the tomato soup. And the sauce they included is next level. It just hit whatever needed to be hit after a super long day of exploring and driving around oahu. I'd go again but I don't live here.“

“4.7/5 — nearly perfect. Sushi Sho was one of the best and most focused sushi experiences I’ve had. The meal is prepaid through Tock, with gratuity included, so once you sit down the experience is entirely about the omakase.

Don’t expect caviar, truffles, or unnecessary luxury ingredients added to justify the price. Sushi Sho is about technique, precision, and thoughtful combinations of both local Hawaiian and Japanese ingredients. The rice, temperature, seasoning, texture, and progression of each piece were incredibly deliberate. It feels like a pure sushi experience rather than a luxury tasting menu disguised as omakase.

Keiji Nakazawa wasn’t behind the counter during our visit, but that didn’t detract from the experience. The sushi masters were extremely attentive and detail-oriented, with warm, personal service throughout.

We spent about $490 per person all-in, including sake, beer, and one additional piece. Expensive, absolutely, but the value is in the craftsmanship and execution rather than flashy ingredients. 4.7/5 and about as close to perfect as a sushi experience gets for me.“

“My family ate at 4 different poke bowls places during our stay and this place was the Best. There’s a little spicy kick to it that makes it stand out. The Musubi are also excellent, I highly recommend you add this eatery to your trip, you won’t be disappointed. There’s relaxing koi ponds outside the place the kids would really enjoy too.“

“Probably the best fried chicken that I have EVER had. If they were to offer a fried chicken plate, chicken sandwich, or just a bucket of chicken I think that I would eat here every day of the week. The fried chicken biscuit and gravy was delicious, but give me just the chicken. I can't rave enough about it. The service here was excellent, very friendly and thoughtful of the entire party. However, it was a bit slow. And don't expect your food to come out quickly. This is a small operation so expect freshly cooked for the table. Parking is the biggest complaint. That said, the headache of finding parking and the longer wait time is worth it for that chicken. An absolute must go for anyone.“

“The Zaru-soba sauce was perfect...the soba itself was good, but the sauce is amazing. I haven't had sauce like that since I was in Japan.

The hamachi carpaccio was a little sad looking, but the salmon with yuzu was really good. There were other dishes I wanted but they were out of it when I went.

Quail eggs were nice, the eggplant tempura was really good too...didn't care much for the grilled tofu. I guess it was because it was harder and dryer than I thought it was gonna be even after letting it sit in the sauce (i poked holes in it to help it absorb more of the sauce, but that didn't work).

Overall this restaurant has some really amazing food, as well as some not so amazing food. But overall I enjoyed it there. But for sure I'll be back when I want zaru-soba and salmon.

One interesting thing that happened was we asked if we could sit at the bar and we were told no. There was plenty of open seating at the bar, and there were only 1 or 2 couples up there at the time eating. I guess we were not good enough for the bar seating for some reason.“
