The Cuban Cafe’ is spot on and the French Toast with the Rum Sauce is off the charts!! Enough food to feed two! The owner is friendly & engaging as is the staff. Stop in, grab a Cafe’ and chill on the sidewalk seating while your breakfast is created..I say created because it is a true work of art…at least in my professional opinion.“

“I was visiting Honolulu from Wisconsin, and this food truck ended up being one of the best surprises of the whole trip. I’ll be honest the walk to it looks a little sketchy at first since you head down this small alley, but don’t let that fool you. Once you get back there, it’s a whole different story. The customer service was awesome super friendly, super welcoming. And the food? Straight-up 10/10. The loaded barbecue fries were insane, packed with flavor and totally worth every bite. The burgers were just as amazing, juicy and cooked perfectly. Everything we tried was out of this world. If you’re in Honolulu, don’t sleep on this place. I’d come back in a heartbeat.“

“This was one of the best meals we had on our Hawaii trip and I wish we couldve returned. We ordered the Shrimp nest appetizer, Mapo tofu, and Banana flower salad. You could really tell everything was prepared with care and the flavors were delightful. I particularly enjoyed the refreshing balance of herbs in the banana flower salad, the warm earthy spice of the Mapo tofu, and the shrimp nest had a crispy outside yet rippy wrapped noodle texture that was so unique! Never had anything like it before. Perfectly filling portions, great value, and a family owned vibe with friendly service! So glad we decided to try it!!!“

“Lunch Set was nice and a good price, $30. Tempura, 3pcs sushi and a choice of miso soup or $3+ for udon. We chose to have it with udon. Everything was tasty, from the quality of the sushi and the tempura. I have no complaints, some of the items are a little pricey but its worth it for the quality.“

I got the shrimp crunch and we tried several others that I can’t recall the name of but was all excellent. Service was good. The atmosphere was quiet. Would definitely eat there again if I ever come back to Waikiki.“

The food was inspired, creative, delicious, and locally sourced. Though the portions of each dish looked small, it was more than enough food and so delicious you wanted to eat every bite! The wine pairings were spot on, absolutely perfect with our chosen courses. The space has such a lovely vibe - clean and modern, but comfortable and well appointed. There really isn't another dining experience quite like this on the island. Justine and Kevin have created such a beautiful place with incredible food and service. “Marugame Udon is one of my favorite spots whenever I’m craving fresh, affordable comfort food. The food is always made fresh, the line moves quickly, and everything tastes consistently great.

My go-to order is the Nikutama Udon with shrimp tempura and chicken tempura. It’s the perfect combo every time. The portions are generous, the prices are hard to beat, and it’s easy to see why this place is always busy.

The only downside is the parking—it can definitely be a challenge. But honestly, the food is worth it. If you’re looking for a quick, delicious, and budget-friendly meal, Marugame Udon never disappoints.“

“I got a delicious breakfast from Sunshine & Pineapple. This is my new favorite breakfast and brunch spot on Oahu, just a short stroll from Waikiki or Kaimuki area. The cafe has a cute atmosphere. The menu features a variety of delicious options, from crispy croffle and acai bowls and Avocado Toast.
Many dishes are made with fresh local ingredients. The friendly staff and quick service add to the overall charm. This is a must-visit for a breakfast or bruch time in waikiki. Their Matcha and coffee are amazing. My kids like the smoothie too.

“Probably the best fried chicken that I have EVER had. If they were to offer a fried chicken plate, chicken sandwich, or just a bucket of chicken I think that I would eat here every day of the week. The fried chicken biscuit and gravy was delicious, but give me just the chicken. I can't rave enough about it. The service here was excellent, very friendly and thoughtful of the entire party. However, it was a bit slow. And don't expect your food to come out quickly. This is a small operation so expect freshly cooked for the table. Parking is the biggest complaint. That said, the headache of finding parking and the longer wait time is worth it for that chicken. An absolute must go for anyone.“

“The Zaru-soba sauce was perfect...the soba itself was good, but the sauce is amazing. I haven't had sauce like that since I was in Japan.

The hamachi carpaccio was a little sad looking, but the salmon with yuzu was really good. There were other dishes I wanted but they were out of it when I went.

Quail eggs were nice, the eggplant tempura was really good too...didn't care much for the grilled tofu. I guess it was because it was harder and dryer than I thought it was gonna be even after letting it sit in the sauce (i poked holes in it to help it absorb more of the sauce, but that didn't work).

Overall this restaurant has some really amazing food, as well as some not so amazing food. But overall I enjoyed it there. But for sure I'll be back when I want zaru-soba and salmon.

One interesting thing that happened was we asked if we could sit at the bar and we were told no. There was plenty of open seating at the bar, and there were only 1 or 2 couples up there at the time eating. I guess we were not good enough for the bar seating for some reason.“

Place was clean with great AC. I got the mini udon soup and the spicy tuna roll. Zero complaints. The server and chefs were amazing. Would definitely come back.“

“We arrived before 11am. Super small place. The food was amazing. Lots of options. We purchased and ate outside where there was plenty of seating. There is only street paid parking. My husband had to drop us off and circle around a few times before he found parking.“

Their chef is continuing to improve on the traditional Roy's dishes that everyone loves, bringing newer tastes to the zucchini bao buns, the hibachi salmon, the butterfish. And he is bringing new dishes to the table that continue to make dining there interesting. We were a party of five last night and every dish hit the mark. Butterfish and salmon were high quality and perfectly prepared. The ribs were the best we've had. the bao buns are better than ever. And our guests loved the desserts. The service matches the high standards of the food perfectly. Great attentive waiters who know the menu and are helpful without overdoing it. Excellent service through the meal. “South Shore Grill has been part of my routine for close to 20 years. It’s a family‑run business with a lot of heart, and I’ve watched the owners’ kids grow up working behind the counter. The food is consistently good, the prices are fair, and there’s a great variety to choose from. It’s an easy stop before the beach or park, or the perfect place to refuel after a day in the surf. My go‑to is always the fish burrito. The cajun seasoning and macnut pesto are always on point. Truly one of those local spots that feels like part of the community.“

“The staff at Cafe Kaila are so warm and welcoming. They also have best breakfast whether you choose to eat an eggs Benedict or a banana bread French toast. Always fresh fruit there so pile it on everyone and just enjoy 😉“
