“Some of the best noodle soups ever (BBH, bun rieu, and bun mang vit). We went in for breakfast hour and it's clearly a local spot.
All the soup broths were so flavorful both in spices and depth of meat flavors. Veggies/greens on the side were also super fresh. The duck was tender, the meat toppings in the bowls were generous.

What more can you ask for? This is a homey, family run business, not a flashy trendy eatery. You get smiles and hugs if you’re local. There are laughs when you take too long to decide or drop a menu. The food is piping hot, fresh, and a reduction of sublime simplicity.

My sandwich, I will remember you with your spicy pork in a crispy and chewy roll. The cup for dipping, YES DIPPING, while a stand alone delectable, is married to that sandwich. They need each other. Please dip. Adding the pepper sauce to any part of the meal adds a spicy harmony but don’t get caught licking the ramekin. Not harmonious to your table mates. Finally, when the fam/staff recommends a dessert, just nod and be prepared for the delicious exit ramp to complete contentment.

“My boyfriend (Drew) and I picked up dinner here last night and the BBQ beef sandwhich was amazing!!! We love how the spice of the sauce wasn't too spicy. The pickled daikon and carrots complimented the spice and the beef was cooked to perfection.

We were very surprised by the mung bean tapioca pudding. We were not expecting to like it. Overall, it was not too sweet and had a good flavor to compliment the BBQ Beef sandwhich.

This local favorite spot for Vietnamese food is made with high quality ingredients and sends you home not just with the lovely flavors lingering but a sense of wellbeing. Nothing really warms you like a good pho some days; they take no shortcuts with the home made broth which as you know if you ever thought “oh I’ll just make that at home,” takes *all* *day* to make pho broth. )Some places, not naming names, take some easy shortcuts on the broth. “Wow - our fav place for pho now in town, delicious broth and rare steak was sliced perfect thickness, noodles not too soft and broth so aromatic and flavorful! Our fresh shrimp spring roll was a good size and delicious, both the satay and fish sauce choices were great with it. No wonder they've been open for 16 years and going strong, keep it up, we'll be back to try more - I saw vermicelli bowls and rice plates choices I want to try :). Reasonable prices and good portion size.

“Wow…we loved our meals. We stopped here by quickly on our way from Waikiki to the airport, and easily found street parking. The vermicelli bowls with lemongrass chicken & tofu (and a banh mi with pork + chicken) were so fresh, so filling, and really high quality. Delicious Vietnamese iced coffee. The service was kind, as well. Highly recommend for a relaxed & high quality meal!!“

“Great family owned Pho 🍜 restaurant! The broth is flavorful and clean, portions are large and priced better than a lot of places. I get the large combo (barely can finish the (XL) and I know there’s an auntie back there making it fresh everyday. I go there three times a month with my mom and would highly recommend for avid pho enthusiasts.

The ONLY downside is that the bathrooms are in the Chinatown Marketplace, which is absolutely atrocious. If you know, you know.“

“No frills Vietnamese food in a small but comfortable space on the edge of Chinatown.... The food was very fresh and authentic. Run by a local couple/family, the service was very hospitable... Prices very fair. The Vietnamese coffee was traditional slow drip and delicious. Ordered the banh mi sandwich and it was also a star... The bread was fresh baked, and had the perfect texture and softness on the inside with just the right amount of crisp on the crust. Definitely recommended.“

“Pho dac biet and com dac biet and win. The beef pho was surprisingly flavourful and had a lot of depth. I was a bit taken back at how good it was. Of the many places on this side of town, this was easily the best. The rice dish was decent. Pork chop was tender and nicely marinated. Not as much char as I would have liked but certainly passes for the real deal. I am happy to have found a really authentic pho experience here without going into town. Certainly worth your time!“

“This was my first time coming here, and I really enjoyed it! It’s a great place to hang out with friends. They have a lot of delicious Vietnamese food and many side dishes that are perfect to enjoy with some beer. You can also bring your own drinks, which is really nice.

They have many unique and authentic Vietnamese dishes that are hard to find anywhere else in Hawaii. The owner is really sweet and took great care of us, making us feel very welcome even though it was our first time here.

“First time dining here, and I was immediately impressed by the cleanliness of the restroom and the entire restaurant. The dining room is clean, modern, and beautifully decorated, creating a very welcoming atmosphere.

The staff were exceptionally friendly, attentive, and accommodating. The spring rolls were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor. The pho was rich and flavorful, loaded with a generous assortment of meats and plenty of fresh vegetables. The shaking beef was tender and flavorful, served with a delicious Maggi-based dipping sauce.

I was especially impressed with the presentation of every dish. You can tell there’s a lot of attention to detail in both the food and the overall dining experience.

Overall, one of the best authentic Vietnamese restaurants on the island. I’m already looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!“

“My Vietnamese friend suggested that we order the Super Pho Seven Courses of Beef at her favorite Vietnamese restaurant. It had a good variety of beef prepared in different ways. My favorite was the Lemon Beef Salad that we rolled up into rice paper and dipped into a delicious sauce. This restaurant not only has the best tasting food, they have the largest menu with over 100 authentic dishes. On Tuesday I ate at Broken Rice and last night I ate at Hale Vietnam, so that's 3 different Vietnamese restaurants in 3 days in a 2 block radius. “Two co-workers and I were at Whole Foods and decided to try An Di Dzo for lunch. I ordered a French 75, a cocktail consisting of London Dry Gin, Sparkling wine, lemon juice and simple syrup ($15) while we perused the menu.

I had Vermicelli Cold Noodle with spring roll and pork (Bun Thit Nuong Cha Gio, $19.50), Number 17 at our favorite place on Smith and Hotel Streets. Another chose Chicken Pho (Mien Ga, $17.75) while the third tried the Vietnamese Beef Stew (Bo Kho, $19.75). We split a Classic Combo Banh Mi ($15.50).

My vermicelli dish was fine, on par with the one at P** V******, but maybe not as good as the one at K*** V********* C******. I didn’t hear any complaints about the Mien Ga. The Beef Stew was petite but came with two large pieces of toasted baguette.
I was disappointed in the banh mi … the baguette felt stale and there weren’t enough pickled vegetables (do chua) and cilantro for me. I can get a better banh mi for $11 elsewhere.

What did I think? The food was okay, but we could get comparable dishes for less money at three places in Chinatown. I was hoping for more … As such, a rating of 3.75.

Postscript: The co-worker that ate the beef stew suffered from intestinal distress for the remainder of the afternoon. He was the only one to use the raw basil and bean sprouts. I was fine, as was the other person in our party.“

“Ha Long Pho is one of my "go to" stops when I'm home...and as always, the ono grindz did not disappoint!!! Summer Rolls: Very large!!! I don't remember them being as full as they were today...not sure if it was a mistake, or a new recipe. As I remember it was so fresh filled with crispy veggies!!! Definitely a 10/10!!! Seafood Pho: When it's an option, I always order seafood Pho! For those of you who know how to eat Pho, you know that beef broth is a must, no matter what style Pho you order. Most places I have to ask for beef broth as it often comes with a vegetable broth...but here, it automatically comes with beef broth. And the seafood was not chewy. I would have loved to see some other seafood represented (it only had fishcake balls and shrimp) but it didn't take away from the healthy portion and umami flavor!!! 9/10 (Only because of the variety of seafood.) COVID Protocols: I felt very comfortable at Ha Long Pho, they require proof of vaccine, or negative COVID test, to enter...and...instead of your spices being left on the table, they are pulled after each guest, I can only assume to sanitize before the next guest uses it. 10/10 for sanitation and safety!!!“
