“This is one of the best plate lunch spots hands down. The prices are on point, and the food is amazing. Restaurant quality food. While most do take out, they also have a very nice and spacious air conditioned indoor area to eat. Not the average plate lunch, as even the sides are well thought out. Authentic japanese potato salad, homemade pickled veggies, fresh slaw salad, might vary slightly from day to day, but it is all delicious. Those are just the sides. If you like Ahi Katsu, get it. It is so fresh and is very high grade ahi tuna lightly battered and lightly seared to perfection. Comes with a very delicious chanterelle sauce, it's so good. If you want a simple yakisoba plate with homemade noodles, that is delicious too. Everything is good. They even have a bakery with some pretty amazing goods. Selection varies, but if they have the croquette pastry that is bomb. They also occasionally do omurice as a special tooThey also have a vegetarian menu, and I'm not vegetarian, but the miso eggplant is amazing. Best I've ever had.Looking forward to going back and keep trying more of their menu!“

“My first time here after seeing them on tv. So glad the worker tied the bag of my 3 plates tightly and that they use strong plastic containers. I took a sharp turn and my bag flipped to the side. My food shifted a little in the container, but at least it didn’t spill out or leak out of the containers. Love the hamburger steak with crispy onions! Omg, the special parmesan chicken was huge!! This was ono too. Will definitely go back there again. ❤️“

“The food is amazing and unique with a rotating daily special while also offering their main menu. Service is as fast as you can imagine, even on the busiest time. When you get your plate, you can sit down in a well maintained sitting area that has amazing views. It's definitely a great place to eat on the island. The entrance is inside NOAA.“

The staff were all so helpful with set up, service, tending to guests and clean up. The food was really good too! Had a heavy appetizer "lunch" and everyone went home filled. The crab and cream cheese won tons, garlic chicken and meatballs were standouts of the line up. Construction was going on on the outside of the building so the view was a little obstructed, but inside the building was well maintained, great temperature, simple A/V set up. Dedicated parking structure with validation made it easy for guests.“

“The Princess Pancakes are definitely the best pancakes I've ever had! The ube sauce is to die for, and Susan made the experience fantastic. After a little mix up at the beginning with our reservation, we were able to enjoy a lovely breakfast on the right hand side near the pool tables. The games were not loud or distracting! The Princess Pancakes come with morning beverages as well!“

“We were so happy with every dish at this restaurant! The attention to service, the thoughtfulness in the way to dishes were prepared and the overall care we felt from staff made this a 5/5 rating. The drinks were special, nothing I've had anywhere else. The appetizers were high quality ingredients, delicious and artistically plated. The entrees were robust, but delicately balanced flavors and textures in each bite so you never got bored or familiar with the dish. The desserts were very good. Our favorite was the earl grey panna cotta. It looks so underwhelming but the flavors are substantial and preferable over the heavy chocolate or caramel desserts. We felt so special dining here. “Loooovvvee, this little cute restaurant. The food is amazing! The restaurant itself is very quaint and clean. The restroom is very clean and smells nice. I would recommend this place to eat in a heartbeat, if you are in Hawaii or you are planning to go on vacation this is the place to go to eat. They serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner throughout the day.
It's not a touristy restaurant, but if you want great food, great price, make sure and hit this place up.“

We had filipino lemonade and mango passion tea for drinks and those were perfect too. Especially the beef brisket was the best thing. “Love this place!! It was our first time here, and we wanted to try as much as we could! The variety of sushi is amazing and everything we had was so good! We ordered the My Salmon Bento, Spicy Ahi Combo, and the Beef and Kimchi Maki. Even after finishing our lunch, we went ahead and ordered the Tamago Roll and Tuna Maki to-go. They will be led to the rest area before confirming their seats.
Then when I sat down, I noticed that the pants I was wearing were white... and they even prepared a white napkin for me to put on my feet!
After the meal was served, he noticed that I was taking photos? and he helped me adjust the meal to a beautiful angle for taking pictures!

This dish is a must-try for friends every time they go to Hawaii! The tenderness of the fish? itself is like springy tofu... super soft and tender! And the outer layer already has very tasty fish meat... which has already made the fish itself reach a high score of 85 points! Together with their specially made green sauce on the side...it directly makes this dish 100 points! A highly recommended dish!“

“there’s no shortage of good poke bowls in honolulu. this place is above average definitely but just short of special. its a solid takeout counter with very limited seating. i love that they give you miso soup on the side, which is awesome. i got the crunch bowl, and appreciated that they fresh fried the ebi tempura, instead of a big batch that sat around. so the owners really care about quality and presentation. i also like that they didn’t drown it in sauce. i think some may balk at the smaller portions, but it was just right for me. good choice if you are in the area“

“We celebrated a big anniversary at Pai and WOW - they made it extra special. We did the four course menu with wine pairings. The service was top notch. The food was inspired, creative, delicious, and locally sourced. Though the portions of each dish looked small, it was more than enough food and so delicious you wanted to eat every bite! The wine pairings were spot on, absolutely perfect with our chosen courses. The space has such a lovely vibe - clean and modern, but comfortable and well appointed. There really isn't another dining experience quite like this on the island. Justine and Kevin have created such a beautiful place with incredible food and service. Pai is definitely a must-try restaurant. We will definitely be back.“

“This is one of Oahu's hidden gems. I've only found out about this new restaurant by word of mouth. People will be lining up here soon. The overall quality and taste is Michelin star worthy. An explosion of different combination of rich flavors in every bite. A different experience from each course. It's totally worth it. I was stuffed by the 4th course of a 6 course meal.“

“walked in at around 6pm on a summer Saturday night and managed to get a seat at the bar/counter as a party of one. in hindsight i should have reserved but you may have similar luck if you are also on your own.

i gorged myself on thai iced tea, their fried chicken wings, and their pho broth with beef, steak, and rib. the thai iced tea wasn't my favourite but the food was glorious. taste and texture were perfect and portion sizes were generous.

service was also excellent. barman was attentive but not overbearing and gave good suggestions on request. i would definitely come back (with a reservation) if i'm ever in the area again.“

“These spring rolls are absolutely incredible and I definitely recommend trying them out whenever you get a chance. I had their Holy Krab rolls and the prefect balance of delicious herb cream cheese with a generous amount of crab makes them a prefect craving to anyone. The rolls were fried to perfection and didn’t have a single taste or feel of excess oil on them alongside the delicious sauce to dip them in. I look forward to trying more of their recipes in the future.“

The ambience is nice, and the service is very friendly and professional. What was a surprise to us Was that Hoku's now have a set menu rather than an à la cart menu. We would've rather had a menu where we could order what we wanted rather than be limited to a couple choices. The food is very creative. But Take away the fancy plates and bowls in the presentation and the food is average to good. The portions are small for the amount of money spent. The foei gras was delicious and well cooked, But I think the coconut topping takes away from the foei gras delicate taste. All in all the food was OK but nothing spectacular. The steak Was not very soft, but rather grainy and chewy although one of our party ordered the wagyu It was delicious. Would I come back to Hokus?, I would say would not be my first choice. Though the service and the ambience was outstanding. I would suggest you go back to the original menu with fresh oysters, larger fish portions. Succulent steaks... A set menu limits someone for coming back and ordering other things. This caused it works for special occasions, but for a day-to-day operation I think you are missing out.“
