“Absolutely recommend Orchids at Halekulani! This is an incredible brunch experience overlooking the ocean. Tony, Benjamin, and the entire staff that waited on us were amazing -- they truly made the experience! We had a special request, and they listened and made it happen perfectly. The food was exceptional. Compliments to the Chef and staff!“
“You won't believe the amazing 60th birthday party my uncle had at this place! The food and ambiance were absolutely incredible! We had live Hawaiian music played by my boyfriend, and our entire family danced the hula all night long! And let me tell you, that roast pig was to die for! It was so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside...you have to check out the video I took! The location is unbeatable, right by the ocean and next to the Prince Hotel in Waikiki. Trust me, you don't want to miss out on this incredible experience!“
“Delicious food, great service! The signature martini (pineapple & coconut) were too easy to drink (a bit steep at $19ea!). The dragon roll was amazing, as were all our entrées (Butterfield, based short ribs & whole snapper). I appreciate the half servings available for some entrées (I didn't even finish my whole dish).“
“We had not been to Michel's for 30 years and still the setting cannot be beat. The waiter assigned to our table was busy so two other waiters, both named Michael, came over at different times to speak with us. They were personable and knowledgeable. I wanted foie gras as an appetizer and the chef was very accommodating. We shared three appetizers; foie gras, oysters, and escargot which were all first rate. Our entrees were Beef Rosinni and steak and lobster, again they did not disappoint. The reason I gave it 4 and not 5 stars is the elegance it used to have has dropped a notch and excluding the two Michaels, the wait staff lacks the finesse that they all had previously. It is still a very good restaurant and I will go back again.“
“Yelp suggests a reviewer consider food, service and ambience in crafting one's review. Olili hits all three. It is off the main beach walk so somewhat less crowded and it's a bit hard to find. But pet the three criteria, you can't go wrong eating here.“
“A good friend of mine and I meet for lunch once a month. I've only been to Merriman's for dinner and had a great experience. Lunch proved to be just as good an experience. I ordered the prime roast beef sandwich and didn't expect it to be exactly like prime rib, so it was a little too raw for me. I asked the server if he could ask the kitchen to make it medium or medium well and within a few short minutes, he brought it back perfectly made. It was really good and the rosemary fries were out of this world! The service was outstanding with continuous refills of iced tea and water, and the atmosphere relaxing and quiet! Would definitely go back! =)“
“Lovely, smiling and friendly person who kindly explained all the vegetarian options to us and two very good tasting vegan tofu bowls. One with cold tofu, sesame dressing and the other with a garlic chili hot sauce. Generous amount of tofu and rice that was topped with delicious pickled vegetables.Small no frills cafe still when a few tables to sit down and eat. We did a takeaway and ate by the tables by the marina.“
“We ate at Uncle Bo's Pupu bar in Waikiki on the second to last night of our 3 week stay, how I wish we had discovered this place sooner! The food was amazing we ordered 4 dishes off the Pupu menu which came out slowly allowing us to savour each dish, service was super friendly and for once we did not feel rushed to finish our meals and move on, which is how we often felt in the restaurants on the main Waikiki drag! Thanks Uncle Bo's we will definitely be back and will definitely tell our fellow Kiwis about your fab restaurant. Much aroha.“
“My husband and myself loved it so much we came back 3x over during our week stay on Oahu. The first day we tried the poke platter and honestly they were all so great but the winner for us was the wasabi furikake AND my husband HATES wasabi. The sushi rice is magical and all the toppings are a must. This will forever be a staple stop for us during our yearly trips. Definitely worth the venture into the island.Thank you for such a great foodie experience.Parking: There are a couple spots behind but very limited. You can luck up with street parking but mostly we parked across the street at Safeway and ran across.“
“Delicious and thoughtful tasting menu with wine pairing. Fresh and flavorful ingredients with friendly and professional service. I am a big man (6'5", 240 lbs.) and I suggested I might still be hungry after the tasting menu, so our server gave us sliders on the house, which filled me right up and were delicious. We highly recommend... Mahalo, MW! :)“
“I don’t give out 5 stars often but the Hideout gets full points. Great atmospheres, fantastic service and obviously tasty food. Prices are about average for the area. We ate here in the morning for brunch and in the evening for dinner. Both times did not disappoint. The live music is always a great touch. Typically busy and reserving a table ahead of time is recommended. Will be back when we return.“
“I ♥️ SPAM. The place is quite small, but there are a few tables/seating inside where you can wait and eat. You can also wait outside if it gets too crowded. The menu and ordering process is pretty simple. My favorites were the basic spam musubi and the salmon seaweed onigiri. These can be a great snack on the go or even a full meal (okay, maybe you have to eat 2+). Grab a few, go to the beach, go hiking, drive around the coast, take your pick!“
“I’ll start by saying I have not had the gold standard of Maine lobster rolls. But I grew up in the PNW eating fresh shell fish of all kinds. This buttered lobster roll was delicious. It had a heaping amount of juicy lobster. The bun was toasted and held up well against the amount of butter. Wasn’t soggy. (I’d eat it right away though… might not be fabulous for take out.)You order at the inside window and then pick up and eat at the picnic tables on the patio. You can see it when you first turn into ward center. Right next to Rodger Dunn golf store. Food came out in less than 10 minutes. The staff was happy and friendly. After I finished eating, one of the girls asked how everything was and was genuinely happy to see that we enjoyed it.Worth the $20 for the roll. Especially considering this is Honolulu and the amount of lobster that was included.Parking: 3 levels of parking at ward center. It’s tight. But it’s free. Never have I not found a spot, even when busy.“
“Delightful dinner at Kala Hale! Every dish and every different item on each dish had distinct and complementary flavors and textures. Ahi special was excellent; holu lei salad crisp and tasty; desserts just right. Don’t miss the vanilla ice cream — often overlooked on menus but not here. And goes well with banana pudding. Friendly service, staff gave helpful information and smiles all around.“
“"Indulge your senses at Island Vintage, where the perfect blend of exceptional coffee and delicious fare awaits! From the moment you enter, the aroma of freshly brewed coffee fills the air, inviting you to embark on a culinary journey like no other. The café's cozy atmosphere provides the ideal setting to unwind and savor every sip and bite. The coffee selection is superb, with expertly crafted lattes, cappuccinos, and pour-overs that showcase the flavor of premium Kona coffee. Pair your coffee with one of the delectable dishes on offer - my favorite is the Vegan Scramble or Taro Bagel with Ube Cream Cheese- and you're in for a treat. From hearty breakfast dishes to gourmet sandwiches and salads bursting with fresh ingredients, there's something to satisfy every craving. What's truly remarkable is the attention to detail in both the coffee and food—each dish is lovingly prepared with care, resulting in a symphony of flavors that will delight even the most discerning palate. Whether you're a dedicated omnivore, vegetarian, veganor simply looking for a cozy café to enjoy great coffee and wholesome food, Island Vintage is a hidden gem waiting to be discovered. Don't miss out on this unforgettable dining experience!"Vegetarian options: Menu has a great Vegan selection??“
“Was here last year and found it disappointing.BUT. TRIED AGAIN TODAY AND WOW!!;food was amazing from ribs to parmesan bread to shrimp ravioli yummmmIf I had to pick anything souflee took to long even though I ordered at the startm but it is worth the wait ..l“
“My husband and I came here after visiting Pearl Harbor and we had such a beautiful view from our table! We stayed longer than we thought we would enjoying the view:) the food and service was incredible and I really enjoyed the ube cocktail they had! My husband enjoyed his lychee martini, too:) pictured are the salmon bombs and the grilled ahi club?“
“Mamma Mia.... Request for TIA!!!!! Probably one of the best servers will come across... the host working yesterday was super chill too. Her food knowledge was A1 and she specials spiel was very natural! I love when a server can give me a spiel on a dish and it not feel redundant or "scripted." On that note though, I would have totally got the burger of the week if I could tolerate spice... All i heard was jalapenos... I really wanted to try the seafood linguini arrabbiata pasta. However, it does comes with a spicy marinara sauce(for those that don't know what arrabbiata is). Thankfully Tia had suggested to do it with "white sauce" (roasted garlic cream). And that my friend, is why... I say she made an amazing recommendation because I will be back for that pasta! Small things I would like to mention... i wish they had noted which items were a bit spicy... maybe with a . The Bruschetta was a bit spicy for me, but the topping mix was amazing... i believe it was the peppers on top of the crostinis... On another hand, the FUJI APPLE flatbread is the way to GO! If you are looking for something sweet and savory... it WEEERRRKS! The fig jam brings a nice little sweet wander in your mind with the tart of apple and saltiness of the prosciutto... and the bite of the apple with a nice salty finish! Every bite is different honestly!!! I love the balsamic glaze too!!! (Honestly, anything with a balsamic glaze is chef's kiss). Oh yeah and it had a nite bite because of the arugula! As mentioned, my pasta was cooked to perfection. It is not easy to get all the components to be as perfect as it was. The seafood, individually and together, was perfectly cooked and not over done. It was very abundant with the fish, shrimp, and the mussels. Like I said, I want thing again when I come back. I also tried some of my friend's pua'a taco that was tasty and filling! Lastly, i love the location, by the marina! I love the open air experience! The vibe is very laid back and just a nice spot to be. We were in the corner and could see everything. And this is how I imagined celebrating my friend's birthday! I would also like to mention... they do free beer (least that's what i was told... don't hate me if they don't do it anymore) for your birthday... of course you have to be "of age"! Anywhos, thank you sooo much Kona Brewing and Tia for making this one of my best lunch experiences!“
“Got two mixed plates so got to try the smoked meat, smoked chicken, hamburger steak, and chili. All the smoked items were definitely the highlight. I didn't care much for the chili and the hamburger steak. The chilis flavors were not the best and I definitely prefer brown gravy for my hamburger steak. I'd come back again but will definitely just get more smoked items - if it's in the name of the restaurant, stick to those items.“
“Yummy sandwiches! I really liked my Pesto deluxe sandwich. The gooey, melting cheese oozing out after a bite. Pesto was delicious and the sandwich was hot and crunchy and tasty! Friendly service and inside was very cutely decorated. A long table and several chairs looking outside, so I was able to see people passing by as I enjoy my food. Smoothies and drinks seem to be pretty popular too. People were swinging by for pickup or just to take out and eat at the Ala Moana Beach park.“
“The Hale Koa Luau was really good! The food was good and entertainment!! The dancers ( both the men and women were awesome) The young lady who was the host was a bit annoying. I know that sounds mean her voice was so nasally . She was probably all of 25 ? But was acting like a 50 something talk show host . I just don't know why she is needed in the show at all . Anyways I would go again , hopefully she will be replaced by one of the actual Hawaiian folks. fire dude was awesome as well!“
“I thought $18 for a plate of shrimp curry was a little expensive until I ate it and realized they could raise the price to $25 and I would buy it again! It's was worth every penny. The restaurant was clean and very well maintained I just wish they had a full size dining area. The service of the food was surprisingly quick and easy. I will definitely be back one day to try more items on the menu. I recommend this restaurant to all my friends and family 9/10. Well done.“
“Tucked away in Aina Haina's shopping center, Jack's exudes culinary authenticity, particularly in their all-day breakfast haven. The homemade corned beef hash takes center stage - a sizzling blend of expertly seared corned beef and potatoes, accompanied by gravity-defying grilled biscuits. Beyond breakfast, Jack's specials beckon with the sweet and sour ribs, where pork ribs, slow-cooked to tender perfection, are drenched in a tangy-sweet sauce that promises a symphony for your taste buds. It's not just a meal at Jack's; it's a journey through flavors curated with passion and mastery, making every bite an extraordinary experience.“
“I booked based on price and proximity to our hotel (walking distance). I didn't realise that was in the middle of a mall, which is barricaded off. It was a bit odd that people could look down at the show for free when we paid have our seat there. In saying that for interactive, my daughter my daughter love to trying all the different things, the service was amazing and it was a great experience in showing off all the cultures around the Pacific. The food was really good, as someone with dietary I wish I checked in the lead up what I could and couldn't eat. But it was all pretty delicious. The two free drinks are just soft drinks so make sure you bring money for the bar if you want to buy a drink noting they don't take cash. There was a real build to the fire aspect of the show and it was a really fun evening.Thank you for a great night, it's been the highlight of our trip so far.“
“Always a creative menu accompanied by attentive service. We sat outside on what turned out to be a windy Friday night. More annoying was the Mariachi band playing loudly at the taco place across the street (drowned out the pleasant music at Merriman's). We'll eat inside next time. My wife's Makai special (Kauai lobster) was superb. My peppercorn steak frite was almost impossible to cut. Sharper knives are needed! Be sure to have the anchovies with the Ceasar salad--a great experience.“
“Perhaps because it's a Japanese owner, it had a Hawaiian taste, but it was very delicious with the seasoning that Japanese people like. The customer service was great with a smile, and I had a great time with my family.I'm also happy that happy hour is long until 6:30 ♪It may be difficult to find as it is on the 3rd floor of the building, but it is worth a visit.“
“Food was great, the restaurant family was very friendly and patient with our picky 5 year old water. Grandma brought out a bunch of things for him to try, she was so kind and thoughtful. Also, come hungry or expect to bring home a lot of leftovers... The pork dishes we ordered came in very generous portions, I could only put away about half of my crispy pork belly before I hit my food wall.“
“The girl behind the counter was awesome. Hawaiian kindness you always hear about in full swing. I got some pork tacos and a burrito and they were fantastic. She offered some hot habinero sauce when I said I like hot food. It was not that hot but great flavor. Plus this location you can grab leonards for desert.“
“Palace Saimin on King Street is a true hidden gem that transports you back in time with its old-school taste done right. This quaint spot may be small, but what it lacks in size, it makes up for in flavor. The menu is super simple, featuring saimin, udon, and BBQ sticks - perfect for those who know exactly what they're craving. While seating can be a bit of a challenge depending on when you arrive, the quick and friendly service more than makes up for it. Just a heads-up, parking is limited to a few stalls in front, and whatever you do, DO NOT park at the Post Office across the street. If you're in the mood for some authentic local comfort food, Palace Saimin is the place to be!“
“Came to konos today to get a smoothie , best service I've had in a really long time! I was helped by Serena and this really cool dude with a stache' think his name was Jacob! They convinced me to buy a Chuns Bomber, and man lemme tell you! IT WAS GREAAAAT I'll definitely be back!“
“My boyfriend and I ate here more than any other place both of our visits to the island. I mistakenly got the Ribeye Steak and I could not believe how dang amazing it was! Happiest mistake ever and for $22 on a 10 oz? Come on! We love the outside atmosphere, so was no big deal eating outside during the day or the evening. So good, and love the staff they work very hard! Mahalo“
“First meal in Hawaii came right after we landed and i was BLOWN AWAY!! we got menu C with an addition of Fried Butterfish Collar and OH MY GOD you cannot miss it!All of the dishes were so amazing. Kalua pork, lomi salmon, short ribs - all amazing. The butterfish collar is out of this world good!! A must visit in Oahu!“
“Best authentic hawaiian food, taste absolutely delicious. The tasting plate is great for trying a bunch of things. I love the squid luau, kalua pig, chicken long rice, fried butterfish collar, ahi lomi. Can’t go wrong with anything. The kulolo walnut brownie is served hot with ice cream. Must try if you’re on the island!“
“Should not have started our vacation eating here for one of our first meals. This place was excellent and set a very high bar for what to expect. Throughout our visit we kept talking about going back and what we would get the next time. Make this a must stop for breakfast or lunch. Greats spot“
“Usually, the wait is so long that I couldn't even think about it.As I was passing by, there were no customers so I went in^^After a while, there was a huge waiting line.I tried the French toast and it was sweet and delicious :)But it tasted ordinary so I guess it was a good thing I didn't have to wait!!“
“Great experience! The food was great and they had several options for the kiddos if your kids are picky. Drinks were fantastic and our server, Kendall, was really good. She had great recommendations from the menu and was really attentive, despite have 2 other large tables, aside from ours.“
“Our Wonderful friend from the islands highly recommended Side Street Inn to us.This was our second feast here (dined here in 2023) and it did not disappoint. We ordered our usual, Collin’s Favorites.Crispy pork chops, tender Kalbi beef and garlic chicken with a scrumptious crunch yet tender. What’s not to like?? We Luv the food and the friendly service. Served family style, you’ll have full bellies or left overs.Everything was on point from the delicious food to impeccable service.Thank You and we’ll see y’all again.“
“One of my favorite Ox Tail soup place to be. At Asahi Grill you don't only get great food , but the service here is awesome. Restaurant is very clean , staff here is amazingly friendly too. Come stop by , and if you are hanging from a long night out. This will take care of that too. lol“
“I've been coming to Masa's so they opened I believe in the late '60s and I don't think I was ever disappointed- the taste and quality of their food is always great and portions are huge. Parking is a bit difficult but it's worth the hassle.“
“After hiking up Diamond Head and proposing to my now wife, we stopped here for lunch based on a recommendation from a local. I had the Mixed Plate and my wife had the Miso Ginger Salmon Sandwich. All the meats were well seasoned, juicy, and delicious. I like salmon once in awhile but that salmon sandwich nailed it, I could eat it all the time. Great place to eat and I look forward to coming back in the future!“
“What an amazing meal we had! We had the Wednesday special (amazing, highly recommend) the ahi Limu, and the spicy tuna poke (also amazing). Both meals were incredibly fresh and tasty. The staff was so friendly and helpful. Beautiful place, food and people.“
“Best experience during my visit Hawaii!!! Must see! Happening on Waikiki beach front hotel Marriott. Very easy to access from my hotel( Hyatt regency to there was mins away by foot)There is no long drive at night and no need to worries for D.U.I.Other luau usually far away from hotels in Waikiki, you need to drove car after enjoying party with lots of food and Mai tai or pay to pick up ride from luau $30 per person.“
“We got a reservation here. It's inside the outrigger. They have a nice courtyard area which gets pretty busy. I had a Mai Tai and the Hulu Chicken. It wasn't the best huli chicken that I have had for sure. Not a bad place though.“
“This was neat a place to find. They have a large musubi selection from rice balls to musubi combos. The cafe is small in size so it’s best to order to go. The staff is friendly and answered all of our questions. They also have some souvenirs to purchase.“
“This is a different take on this famous spot in Waikiki. The food is good, the drinks are good, the atmosphere is good, the service is excellent, but there isn't an outstanding trait which would make me go back on the same trip. So yeah, it's a place not to miss around Waikiki for the experience, but don't go if you are looking for excellent food or an outstanding atmosphere. You'd still like the overall experience.“
“All things just about right, nothing more, nothing less. Atmosphere, service, presentation, flavour of the food, price. Recommend trying it out.It will be perfect without this crazy 65km/h wind gust and rain.I wish I can come back again in the daytime to enjoy the ocean view next time.“
“Alot of space to eat alittle pricey but very ono...I'd eat here weekly my go to for Hawaiian food and you guys better go when you can...well they're only open 10 to 2 don't miss this place ..one more thing they'll be closing ending of June for good..so sad..“
“I'm an ass, I have been selfishly stalling on this review because I don't want it to be so crowded they turn me away. I really enjoy the homey feels of their food. Even when the man grouchy you cannot taste it in his food it still tastes good. I maybe tried only like 3 things because it's hard to change when you ono for something and that something is so good you scared the next thing going make you wish you had the other thing. Hamburger steak is that thing. I don't know how they make the mochiko chicken so lightly fried almost like tempura. I like that there is a sauce for it. I want to tell you what the worst thing is but I cannot get past the first few things to try everything on the menu ..I want to, but chances are everything is great. This is a take out only -you can blame the pandemic on that. There are a few parking stalls in the building. Follow them on instagram @ethelsgrill_kalihi because they tell you when the hours are. Which is not open Sunday Mondays and when they need a break from a holes like me and sometimes they have tsukemonos, natto thingies, & special made desserts on the days I cannot go. So let me tell you the coolest thing is the actual people of bobs burgers (the show) made a cartoon of Ethel's and it looks just like them as if they stepped out of that cartoon. Freakin awesome but so is the girl who runs this place.“
“Every visit to the Hau Tree restaurant is a highlight and must visit every time I go home, a must-stop whether for brunch, lunch, or dinner. The blend of its serene atmosphere, breathtaking sea views, and unparalleled cuisine crafts an exquisite dining experience. Its exceptional charm and culinary excellence make Howtree an embodiment of aloha spirit, truly a five-star treasure by the sea.“
“Mud Hen Water had one of the more unique menus out of all the places we ate in Hawaii, with dishes that were an interesting fusion of Japanese, traditional Hawaiian, and many other cuisines. My favorite dish was the handmade pasta with venison, which was absolutely delicious and caused my wife to almost abandon her meal to try and eat mine. Hers was also fantastic, a crispy chicken dish that was tender, well-seasoned and really juicy. With excellent service, great food, and a laid-back atmosphere, Mud Hen Water is a strong recommendation for anyone in the Honolulu area looking for a unique dinner spot.“
