“Māze was an incredible experience. The dishes paired with each cocktail for the Tasting menu were so well executed. The flavors of each dish matched the flavors of each drink. I especially liked the snack course - the waygu kimbap was probably one of the most delicious bites I've had. From start to finish, I truly enjoyed my dinner at Māze and look forward to visiting again next time I'm on O'ahu to try what's next on the tasting menu.“

“Great to have a new restaurant in the "Gold Coast" area. Lovely spaced tables & warm, calming ambience. Uniquely selected yet simple menu with island flavors. The Tomato Salad was a surprise w/ its "ling hing mui" vinaigrette. Hamachi & Ahi sashimi dishes were prepared in a different fun presentation. Wasn't much a fan of the Venison Tartare, & the fried chicken was great! Nice wine selection and I hope to be back soon with more of a organized strategy for wine pairing. *Desert-wise the mochi is great & the Panna Cotta alone will make me return.“

“My first time dining here in Waikiki, and we had such a wonderful experience! Rose and Steven were so sweet, welcoming, and attentive throughout our visit. The customer service was truly amazing, and they made us feel so special. It was also my friend’s birthday, and they went the extra mile by bringing out a cake to celebrate! Such a thoughtful gesture that made the experience even more memorable.

“Everything about Helena's was top notch! The service was great, the food was exquisite. It was my first Hawaiian food in my life and I ate Hawaiian food all over Oahu, Maui, Big Island and Kauai in the week that followed and did not find any better than Helena's in Honolulu! I bought the Option C plate. I've visited 49 states and eaten all over North America and Helena's was the best pork I've had in my life, best ribs I've had in my life, best salmon I've had in my life, the haupia dessert was incredible (especially with the salt and onion). If you can only eat at one Hawaiian place on your trip, make it Helena's! Mahalo!“

“My first time here after seeing them on tv. So glad the worker tied the bag of my 3 plates tightly and that they use strong plastic containers. I took a sharp turn and my bag flipped to the side. My food shifted a little in the container, but at least it didn’t spill out or leak out of the containers. Love the hamburger steak with crispy onions! Omg, the special parmesan chicken was huge!! This was ono too. Will definitely go back there again. ❤️“

“I loved this food truck! Not only does it look cool, but it also offers a great selection of food at decent prices. I wasn’t expecting too much from the fish and chips, but they were so tasty—the batter was perfect, and the mac salad was a great addition.

It was the perfect meal to enjoy next to the beach, especially as I was super hungry! They also have a chilled selection of drinks.

Service was fast, friendly and efficient. My wife also loved the shaved ice, especially the lime and watermelon flavours. Definitely worth stopping by!“

“Make sure you triple check your oder. Today we ate at the Honolulu Bistro for the first time. The guy at the register claims he didn't rung us up for 2 sandwiches. At checking out he did say back our order. The recipe is not detailed either. The amount we paid was definitely for 2 sandwiches. We ended up sharing 1 sandwich and left.“

“Eh, Howzit! Omg we haven't even eaten the food yet and it has been an awesome experience. It ain't the cheapest meal on the island, but it is a ton of food from the looks of it and we got a little bit of everything. They have all the classics, poke, like 5 kinds, chicken in garlic and teriyaki. Peak, hero level ribs, smoked beef, argh! Just got our food and must go eat the rest of it! Catch you next time!“

“This place was a surprise! My wife and I stumbled into Kale Shale Kitchen with modest expectations, but we walked out genuinely impressed AND STUFFED (the good kine).

The luau soup deserves special mention. I'll be honest, I was skeptical going in, but one spoonful and those doubts vanished completely. It's an absolute winner and easily the highlight of our evening. Some dishes you have to taste to truly understand, and this is one of them. It's just good, plain and simple.

Beyond the food itself, the value is exceptional. You get an incredible selection and portion quality that honestly puts other places to shame. For the price, you're getting significantly more than you'd expect to pay elsewhere. That's refreshing in today's market.

Our server, Obi (short for Naiobe, which she reveal later. I laughed because the name reminded me of The Matrix movies), made the experience even better. She stayed attentive to our needs throughout the meal, kept drinks flowing, and made us feel genuinely welcomed. That kind of attentiveness matters.

If you're in the area and looking for something that goes beyond the ordinary, Kale Hale is worth your time. We'll definitely be back.

“Got the Zip Pac Deluxe to try everything. This comes with Korean BBQ beef, fried chicken, fried fish, chili, spam, mac salad and rice with furikake. Definitely a lot of food so bring an appetite!

Overall, good tasting comfort food. Only note would be the tarter sauce was a bit too sweet (instead of savory), and rice could use just a bit more furikake!“

“Wonderful lunch with my wife at this gem I had almost forgotten about after being brought here over 10 years ago. Pleasant waitress, great food, and even a friendly cat who’s obviously spoiled rotten and loves cheese and shrimp.“

“The best old skool saimin joint on the planet...the broth just brings back alot of memories of enjoying saimin with your parents and grandparents...its just so rich in flavor and the noodles are second to none...then its time to sink your teeth in the smoky flava of their bbq stick,omg doesn't get any better..my go to is the wonton min and bbq sticks, if you haven't already visited this place, do yourselves a favor and check them out soon.. 🤙🤙🤙“

“Don’t frequent this place because I don’t live in the area. Got a barbecue cheeseburger deluxe, fries, and a can of Coke for less than 15 bucks. Burger was good. Fresh bun, fresh veggies. The fries were hot and crispy and not greasy. I was very satisfied.

Dining area was small, but bright and cool. Other people were eating big breakfast combos that looks good. I’ll I’ll definitely go back if I’m in the area. I remember I got a late lunch with barbecue beef there before. That was good too.“

“The staff at Cafe Kaila are so warm and welcoming. They also have best breakfast whether you choose to eat an eggs Benedict or a banana bread French toast. Always fresh fruit there so pile it on everyone and just enjoy 😉“

“I love everything about the poke here. Poke bowls are one of my goto takeout meals. I love it here becausd they have an option for sushi rice. For me, poke bowl aint bowling without the right rice. The tuna is crazy fresh. The variety is also A+ its just so sad that in this economy eating out is a rarity for my family and i.“

“The food was so good! Ok, there's no indoor dining and the outdoor dining is really rough but during our meal there the locals seemed to love it and for good reason. This is what I imagine authentic Hawaiian BBQ for the working man is like. When you go to a BBQ place and see the orange construction either shirts, is probably going to be good and it was. The girl at the register recommend the beef short ribs and they were amazing. My wife had the teriyaki chicken and it had amazing flavor, though a bit overcooked, I still finished it if for her gladly. My only warning: one dish is plenty for two hungry people! We were getting ready to head to the airport and didn't want any to go to waste, so we have half to a mother with four teenage boys. They were 😊. Definitely will return next time we visit the island.“

“I was surprised how good this restraunt was for being in the bishop museum. The pork was amazing and the rest of the meal was pretty good as well. It was honestly pretty inexpensive compared to other restaurants. Would definitely recommend if you are visiting the bishop museum.“

“Hard to find. But when you see the grill outside you know you are at the right place. Am pescatarian- will tell you these are the best fresh fish tacos w/ beans and rice I have had! Service is quick and friendly. Menu changes with demand. Highly recommended - always come here after beach or when friends are in town“

“I've dined at many L&L restaurants in Hawaii but this was my first visit to the location across from Whole Foods. There are lots of tables for diners, many are hidden around the corner from the drink dispensing station.

I ordered something I get at a number of L&Ls ... BBQ Cheeseburger combo (a deluxe BBQ cheeseburger, a LARGE bag of fries, and a drink); all for $12.50.

The burger contained lettuce, a thick slice of white onion, and a slice of tomato. Yum! The fries were crispy ... None were soggy ... Yay!

“Honestly: I’m disappointed in *myself* for not finding this place sooner! Got the loco moco plate and let me just say- it’s not only packed full of food, but it’s also packed full of FLAVOR! The mac salad was absolutely on point as well. The young lady that assisted me at the counter, Taney, was an absolute delight, and shared her insight on the best “go-to” items on the menu with an added twist. :) I’m already excited for what I’ll try next!“

“Nice and New. Glad L&L replaced the old previous Makiki Inn restaurant that was here before. I like it. It’s nice and has nice tables and new menu. I had the Chicken Katsu. I always judge an L&L by their Chicken Katsu. This location has pretty good Katsu. If you grew up in Hawai’i, you know what I’m talking about.

I give full stars for the niceties and new location.

L&L always provide customers with good local Hawaii plate lunches.
