We just landed a few hours ago for our first trip to Hawaii and after a long day of travel, we walked around for a while somewhat overwhelmed by all the options nearby. After a few failed attempts at finding what we were looking for - a somewhat unassuming place where we could sit down, read a menu with authentic flavors, get a drink or two from a wide selection of local favorites - we thankfully found the genius lounge, just a short walk away!

Great little place for some small plates or a full meal. Nice selection of drinks as well.

Genius Lounge – Hawaiian & Japanese Dining is a hidden gem in Waikīkī with a great rooftop atmosphere. The food was better than expected, with unique dishes like tempura sushi rolls w/ pico, furikake ahi tuna, Hawaiian Ribeye, chicken nanban, and shrimp dynamite. The oyster shooter and Loco moco were also tried. The drinks were solid, especially the Iichiko BLU cocktail, and there is an extensive drink menu with a large selection of sake. The staff was friendly, super helpful, and made guests feel welcome. The menu is reasonably priced for the area with a decent happy hour. Perfect for an intimate dinner or groups sharing dishes. Guests would come back again.
