Kale's Hale Reviews
That is my favorite place
This place was a surprise! My wife and I stumbled into Kale Shale Kitchen with modest expectations, but we walked out genuinely impressed AND STUFFED (the good kine).
The luau soup deserves special mention. I'll be honest, I was skeptical going in, but one spoonful and those doubts vanished completely. It's an absolute winner and easily the highlight of our evening. Some dishes you have to taste to truly understand, and this is one of them. It's just good, plain and simple.

Kale's Hale is a restaurant located on the corner of N School Street and Houghtailing on the 2nd floor. The restaurant is more spacious than it looks from the outside, with ample seating for small or larger parties. There are handicap parking stalls, and an elevator is available. Reservations are encouraged as it gets busy.
The restaurant offers different tiers of all you can eat (AYCE) items. The base offering has been enough for many guests. The marinated meats are different from other AYCE places, and the banchan selection is very plentiful with no charge for additional refills. The one ounce wagyu ayce choice offers many meat varieties. Favorite meats include the Wagyu, tongue, kalbi, spicy pork, PORK BELLY (THIN), and TRI-TIP STEAK. The luau soup is an absolute winner and easily a highlight. The bento boxes can be grilled at home with lots of meat and rice. Wednesday features free ayce sushi with ayce, and the SUSHI BOAT is a highlight. The GOLD ($34.99) tier is available for those wanting the sushi boat. The lihing mui ice cake hits the spot. The Bumbucha bloody mary has great presentation.
The service is outstanding. The owner comes around several times to check on guests. When Chef is there, he talks story with customers and brings specials of the day to the table. Servers are very accommodating and make guests feel at home. The ambiance is perfect. Air vents are built into the tabletop grills so guests don't leave smelling of smoke. The value is exceptional, with incredible selection and portion quality. This is a super friendly place with a local atmosphere and ono food.
