Our favorite place for lunch, even better when we get to see our favorite bartender Amelia.

It is divided into outside and inside. The view outside is spectacular. The atmosphere is nice, and unlike Japanese store clerks, the store clerks are all very humorous. The price is really high...

The terrace seats have a great view! The food is generally good, especially the crab pasta, which has a good flavor and is recommended.

Our waiter, John, provided excellent service. We had the specials - crab pasta and braised duck. Our visitors enjoyed the ocean view. Only thing was Ala Moana had some kind of car show on the day we went with cars roaring their engines.

We had a 7pm reservation and we were 5min late because of poor planning on our part. We arrived and apologized and the hostesses were extremely nice, gave us a choice of inside or outside seating so we chose inside. We sat down and our waiter arrived and he was bit rude at first. We got water, he told us the specials and walked away. We waited about 10 minutes before he came back with what he called “fresh from the oven” pop overs. They were cold, stale, and dry. They were most definitely not fresh from the oven. That was strike one. He then walks away and comes back 5 minutes later and says “Last Call for Kitchen”... what the heck. Our reservation was for 7, it's not even 730 yet and you're telling us it's last call, Strike two. So we rushed to place our food orders (from an extremely limited menu). The food came out quite fast and it was decent. The saving grace of this experience was the front row view of the fireworks. The waiter got a little friendlier towards the end but it honestly doesn't make up for how we were treated in the beginning. Not sure I'd come back here again for dinner. Maybe it's different for lunch.

Mariposa is wonderful because the atmosphere is quite nice and the food is consistently good, which it should be considering the price point. The service was a little disappointing this time as we waited for the server (not the food) to come a few times. He brought the bill although he had not offered us dessert or coffee, which four out of five of us wanted. Making the customer feel like you'd like for them to leave is generally not a good move. But the 20% tip is automatically included, so maybe he didn't care.

We go there often, and always have a wonderful time. Good food, great staff. When really busy, the noise level can sometimes be a little high. We sat outside this time and think we enjoyed that is was not as loud. We will be back!

We went there for a birthday lunch, and everything was great. The consommé and popovers are always an added treat. Our lunch was delicious and they were kind enough to give us two birthday desserts that were very nice. Kawai was an excellent waiter.

Our server John was very accommodating especially with the request for separate checks for our party of 7 people. He also had a sense of humor. Two ladies had ordered two dishes to be split among them. To our surprise, the meals were split equally between the two with separate plates. Such great service!

Mariposa is always a great choice. Food and service is usually exceptional from entry to exit. Anything to change would be the noise level at peak dining times. But it's always a fave and always a nice time at Mariposa.

The food was good and the service very friendly. Prices were high as they are everywhere. The view of Ala Moana Park and the ocean from the outdoor seating is very pleasant. The free popovers are great.

For us Japanese, the usual volome of food quntities are quite a lot compared with our home country. So may a time we suffer from leaving the good cuisine behind which is not fit our culture. So in Mariposa, I reccomend you to order just 1 main dish and share with your partner. My wife and me visited for lunch and ordered a cheese sanwich and cob salad for two of us and the waiter said "Excellent". First a popover (This is true delicious and so nice to humble) came and then the cob salad which was also so good !! After that a cheese burger followed which was the best burger I tasted over the world (43 countries) and was so satisfied with the taste and appropriate quantity of the food which we can just enjoyed to the perfect satisfaction. As for dessert, we tasted the "Afo guard" wih complete harmony of coffee, ice cream and chocolate biscuit. Our last comment ? "Let's come back here again on our next trip to Hawaii !!"

There is always a uniqueness to Mariposa with their popovers, special fruit butter, and consume...oh and the views are absolutely beautiful! Food is always good, we've tried most entrees but our new favorite is the scallops and potatoes! And of course, the food always tastes better when service is on point. Our waiter was on it! He catered to my mom, giving her entree suggestions, explained how the dishes she was interested in were prepared, but he said his favorite was the scallops, it sounded so good, we gave it a go... my mom and were not disappointed. Definitely a go to place for lunch!
