This is an old fashion family restaurant that I grew accustomed to back in my days in LA. It’s fried chickens and banana ketchups brought back lots of memories. I took my granddaughter here and she enjoyed its fried chicken. I had the Pancit Bihonvwhoch was good, but not one of the better ones. The service was very friendly and our orders arrived quickly. The fish filet in black bean sauce was very salty. Parking lot was a chaos due to Costco’s customers.
The food was not authentic. The kare-kare was bland because they use powdered kare-kare packet. The Lechon Kawali was not crispy because they used crispy pata trimmings. The Dinuguan was not tasty at all as well. We tried both the Dillingham and Waipahu branches and bith were a disappointment. I will never go back to Max’s HI.
Your typical Filipino food. I gave this place a 3 because the only thing I would recommend from this place is their Max’s Fried Chicken, which is what they’re known for, and their halo-halo. Most of their food at very salty and the service is not that great either. Some of the servers tries to convince you to order more and next thing you know, there’s way too much food on the table and you are paying more.
Always a good experience with the family. The food never dissappoints.
The costumer service is worst . We noticed that our food hasn’t arrived yet, and we saw the other costumers who ordered after us got their meals sooner not to mention the same order. Why???? The taste of their food is disgusting. Not coming back again!!!
My recent experience at Max’s Restaurant Dillingham (Cuisine of the Philippines, Hawaii) was beyond unacceptable. From the moment I walked in, I felt frustrated, disrespected, and deeply disappointed by the service (or complete lack of it). What should have been a pleasant meal quickly turned into one of the worst customer service encounters I’ve ever had.
When I arrived, there was no host or server to greet me at the entrance. I stood there waiting for what felt like an eternity (easily over 20 minutes) without any acknowledgment. Employees walked by, but no one even said “hello” or “we’ll be right with you.” There was a sign that said “Please wait to be seated,” so I patiently waited but yet no staff member came over to seat me or even glanced in my direction. This long, awkward wait made me feel like I was invisible and completely unvalued as a customer.
After waiting far too long, I finally had to flag down an employee myself. I approached an older lady whose name tag said Aida working at the cashier counter chatting with someone and politely asked if someone could seat us. Her response absolutely shocked me. Instead of an apology or any attempt to help, she snapped at me in the most dismissive tone imaginable: “Can’t you see we don’t have any tables available?” She even pointed at the “wait to be seated” sign, as if the situation was somehow my fault for expecting basic service. I found this incredibly rude and unprofessional. Being spoken to like that is essentially being scolded for asking for service which made me feel humiliated and angry. There was absolutely no excuse for that attitude; a simple, courteous explanation or an estimate of wait time would have been enough, but instead, I was met with sarcasm and disrespect.
To make matters worse, even though she claimed there were no available tables, I could clearly see empty tables that just hadn’t been cleaned. Instead of putting in the effort to clean them and seat customers, she just continued her conversation with someone.
Honestly, one star is generous for this experience. I wish I could give zero. I have never been treated so poorly at a restaurant in Hawaii. I will not be returning to Max’s Restaurant Dillingham, and I’ll make sure to warn friends and family about the way we were treated. No customer should ever have to beg for a table or be met with rudeness when simply trying to get seated. Avoid this place if you expect basic courtesy and a clean table, you will unfortunately find neither here.
I rarely leave negative reviews, but this place was disappointing enough to speak up. The food tasted like it had been sitting out all day—or worse, reheated leftovers from the day before. Nothing tasted fresh, and the texture was off across the board, like it had been microwaved instead of properly cooked. The “crispy” sisig was anything but—it had the consistency of rubber. For the prices they’re charging, you’d expect at least a decent meal, but this felt more like something you’d reluctantly heat up at home. Definitely not coming back.
Walked in and there were no customers inside. We waited for 10 mins making several eye contact with the workers to see if they will start seating us in front but all they did was stand around and talk to each other. A few minutes later they still didn’t acknowledge us.
My husband and I like the food. Try the lechon and fish filet. But they need more people working. It took 30 minutes for food to come out. Otherwise good.

My first meal back in US, and of course it was Max’s! There’s no way of duplicating their lechon kawali Sisig! It’s my death row meal, my ultimate cheat day plate and my guiltiest pleasure. I love how it comes sizzling on its hot plate and how crispy the bits get the longer it keeps contact with it. My cousin treated me to lunch and we ordered an ass ton of other food too but nothing, nothing, nothing compares to the lechon kawali sisig. Funny enough my cousin is a freaking celebrity here and we were treated like movies stars…he comes here weekly and orders three or four dishes just for himself!
My only gripe is the increasing prices but maybe it’s due to being in Hawaii…nevertheless the sticker shock was real. Saying all this, I’ll pay anything for the Sisig!
Visiting Hawaii doe the first time and I looking for Filipino food ,this place was my recommended places from Filipino people and appreciate. But everything that they is so greasy it taste bad the chicken the lumpia stay away from those plates .staff where so friendly that's why I gave a 2 star
Friendly staff sat us down quickly food is always amazing and the service was great
on top of an extra loud sound system, it's impossible to work with the woman that was working up front tonight. I was on a delivery to pick up for Uber as a diamond driver and the woman refused to give me the delivery until I confirm that I had picked it up. I can't confirm a pickup until I have actually picked up the item. she started a fight with me at the front of the store and refused to hand it over after handing it to me and then ripping it out of my hands. she called for her manager up front who gave me the order then left me a negative review on my profile after I was already on delivery.
this is a terrible restaurant. I can't tell you if their food is good or not but I can tell you that their staff is the most unprofessional staff that I worked with tonight.
I bust my ass every single day without a day off. people like this make my job more difficult then waste my time.
on top of an already extremely loud atmosphere in the restaurant I can tell you from experience with other restaurants that these people are not professional and I would never trust them with my food.
the orders are not even kept in a hot box or warm area.
when I gave the woman the name for the customer on the delivery instead of looking at her bags of orders ready to go she spent an extra minute to 2 minutes walking around clicking on screens and looking at digital screens.
there are three bags on the counter.
if someone walks in and gives you a name and confirm the company the delivery is for as well as all the items, you should not need to see my phone or give me an issue about confirmation.
hand the driver the delivery so they can get done with their job.
every second counts when it comes to keeping food hot.
you already damaged the food by not keeping it in a hot area.
every second you spend wasting my time including that extra 5 to 10 minutes is costing me money and customer satisfaction.
you are not professionals
It is so so. Max is Max and the standard for filipino food. I judge other filipino restaurants to Max.
